Truly a home away from home... great price, location and wonderful management team!!
Great roomy and comfortable location that fit 15 people comfortably. We rented all 3 floors, each floor has its own kitchen and was fully stocked. Convenient and within walking distance to the grocery store, Starbucks, Target, restaurants and public transportation. Friendly neighbors with friendly dogs. Nice neighborhood feel. Well appointed kitchens. Lots of pots and pans. Great to have a blender. House was very quite although construction was going on next door. Ms. Lois (the owner) and her team are amazing and responded quickly to internet issues and additional trash pickup as needed. Great space, location and price... I highly recommend this beautiful home!!!

Construction and layout of property
We really didn't appreciate the layout of the property. It was extremely odd having beds in living rooms with no doors. Perhaps more importantly, the construction next door and the enormous dumpster in front were significant distractions. The noise and garbage were terrible. We would appreciate a refund of some fair portion. Thanks, Kara

Great if You Rent All Floors!
We rented the entire house and it was great! I know that each floor can be rented individually, but I recommend renting all three floors of the house if possible. I imagine the experience wouldn't have been as great if we hadn't.

It worked great for 3 Families
It worked great for our 3 families with ages running from 8 to 71. The little ones loved playing hide and seek. Enough bedrooms and bathrooms for 15 people. Only drawback was no single room to congregate except the conference room. We made it work and the adults always came together to share at the end of the day while kids spread out.

Do Not Hesitate to Contact Property Manager or Maintenance with concerns!!!
Our family of 15 stayed at this house for four days. The location is wonderful with the metro, supermarket, restaurants just a couple of blocks away. We made sure our cars were locked with no valuables and had no problems finding a parking spot close by. As other reviews said, the house is old and quirky. It was enjoyable to find all the different areas of the three floors we rented. It was clean enough and the large conference table was very nice for our whole family to enjoy our evening meals together. It was fairly hot in DC when we were there and as can be expected, the A/C worked great on the first floor, good on the 2nd floor and ok on the third floor. It was nice to have 3 kitchen areas but to prepare meals for a large group would be a challenge as the kitchens are adequate, but small. HOWEVER, there were several negatives that I feel I need to point out. The main problem is that there are signs all over the house…….ie. “turn off lights” “do not move furniture” etc. There was also a sign on the 3rd floor bathroom…”Do Not Use Bathroom” and a door between front and back areas on 2nd floor ….”Do Not Open Door” So our family had the use of only 3 bathrooms instead of 4 as advertised. And one bathroom’s shower did not work. Also, two washer/dryer combos did not have directions on how to use and we all had to use the single dryer on the third floor. When we returned home, I contacted the property manager and she said I should have called because the bathroom with the sign was “off limits” to those who were not on the 3rd floor and the door between areas on the 2nd floor could have been opened. How were we to know that? Our family was very conscientious about following the rules and never thought to call to question a sign clearly stating “Do Not Use”. My advice to anyone who rents this house is to COMMUNICATE and call/text the property manager and the maintenance persons if there is something that does not meet your expectations when you arrive. Don’t hesitate to express your concerns at that time and do not wait until after you have returned home!

Wonderful and interesting house
We rented the whole house so found the discovery of bedrooms fun and exciting. House was clean. We did need go get extra hand soap but left it there for future use so it should not be a problem. We would definitely go back.

nice neighborhood feel
Property was a mixed bag. We rented the top 3 floors (not the separate garden apartment) for an office trip. Great neighborhood and close to everything. House was clean and linens were fresh and clean. Beds were comfy and rooms were not tight. Plumbing was quirky. One shower didn't have hot water unless you used the shut off value on the floor, one didn't mix the temps, you either got hot or cold. No working outlet in the top floor bathroom. Security might be an issue if you don't rent the whole house. Only one key for all persons in the house and individual rooms don't lock while you are gone. WiFi was spotty in the back bedroom. Kitchens were ok appointed and bath towels were clean. House had a lot of charm to it and we enjoyed the old house feel and quirks. Back yard was not very usable, overgrown and bottom step was broken. With all that said, I would probably rent this property again if we needed the whole house. Subway was only a block and a half away, restaurants and groceries/liquor one block. There is a handy man on call that did respond quickly to our concerns.

Columbia Heights Brownstone
Our family found this beautiful home to be the perfect place for our reunion. There was plenty of room for everyone to relax and spend time together. We loved the neighborhood and how close we were to the stores and metro.

Great DC Place for the Whole Family
My whole family had a great time in your townhouse this past weekend. It was the perfect place for all of us to stay while celebrating my sister's wedding. The layout was perfect for all of the families with their children, and the big room was used as a meeting/regrouping/storytelling room, as well as dining room. The location was perfect, too, with Giant, restaurants, and the metro so close to it. The townhouse helped make for a memorable DC experience!

Loved this DC Brownstone!
My family was in DC for our family reunion. We rented the entire house and basement apartment. We loved the location. It was safe. Very convenient to grocery store, shopping, restaurants and the Metro subway! The house was clean and we had plenty of room. We loved preparing our meals and sitting in the huge dining room to eat and play games at the end of each day. This was our first VRBO experience and I am certain we will use again for our next vacation! Thanks for making our DC vacation memorable!

Everything as promised!
This was a great place to stay for an extended family group. We had 10 people from 5 different households and the accomodations were great. Metro was very very convenient to hit all the tourist spots. The large dining table became the central spot for us to unwind after a long day of walking. The bedrooms were spread out enough for those that needed some downtime. Everything is really as close as the description. Absolutely no need for a car! In house laundry was a life saver! THANKS LOIS!

Extremely Comfortable and Convenient
This townhouse is really great for a crowd, and its location couldn't be better. It's just a five-minute walk to breakfast options, the Metro, a Target, etc in the heart of Columbia Heights. But it's off the main drag enough that it's quiet. The beds and bedding are really comfy, like what you'd find at a nice hotel. One note about the number of beds: if no one in your party is interested in sharing a bed, this house sleeps 10 (and that's got two people sleeping in bunk beds and one on a pull-out bed). If everyone in your party wants his or her own room, the house sleeps 5. The owner is good at returning communications and even went the extra mile to ensure we got our security deposit after our stay. I really appreciated this kind of 'customer service'. We'd definitely stay here again when our team is in town for a conference.

Awesome accomodations
Our daughter got married on Jan. 3, 2014 and family came from all over the country for the event. We rented 3 of the 4 apartments and were able to sleep 14 very comfortably. Besides the great location and size we needed a large dining area so we could cook and eat together, and this house had it. We spent a lot of time around that conference/dining table! In fact, this house became the central location for both sides of the family to spend time together and make preparations for the wedding. Everything was just as Lois had promised and we had a blast. Thank you so much! PS. We TRIED to be quiet for the other guests staying there. They were lovely and very understanding.

Middle School Field Trip
We traveled with 21 students to D.C. for 4 days. The house suited our needs very well. Nice spacious rooms with ample floor room for multiple luggage per room. Large dinning rooms allowed all of us to eat at the same time (with some small modifications). Close to the metro, convenience stores, and other stores. Homeowner was wonderfully accommodating.

Great place to stay
Fantastic place. I was here with a big group, we rented the whole house. We had privacy when we wanted it and lots of space to hang together too. Everything was clean and well-maintained, we had no problems at all. Easy to get around, Subway is a short walk away, grocery store just around the corner. Would definitely reccomend it, especially for large groups.

Jan 25 – Jan 28 2013
This is an absolutely amazing property! I stayed at this property from Jan 25 - Jan 28 2013 to celebrate my birthday. The property manager Lois and her staff made my stay remarkable with their excellent customer service and willingness to go above and beyond to make my visit enjoyable. I rented the entire house to include the basement, each floor (4) was decorated very nice and spacious. This rental property is good for travelers visiting DC/MD/VA as well as those in the local commuting area, the house is located in a very nice area and is close to everything you need (stores, metro, dining etc). Many many thanks to Lois and her staff for taking good care of me and my guests! I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, and look forward to renting with you in the future. There is NO way, I would ever stay in a hotel when in DC ever again!!! I highly recommend this property. Thanks Lois! Sukeena

Five Star DC experience
Location! Location! Location! The house is so conveniently located around the corner from the supermarket, 2 blocks from shopping, restaurants, and the metro that you can't help but have an unforgettable stay in the nation's capitol. The house is a beautiful brownstone that comfortably housed the nine of us. We enjoyed our girls' getaway and the four bathrooms were certainly welcome. Thank you Lois for a memorable experience. 3 story Rental in Columbia Heights
We rented the whole house for 4 days, it was amazing. There were 15 people in our party, each one of them had their own comfortable bed space with clean linens, abundance of pillows, towels, etc. The combination of queen, double, twin beds worked out great for our family. The rooms were decorated with nice furniture, solid beds, great mattresses and other pleasing decor. Lois had taken extra care to set a table for 12 with placemats, dishes, wine glasses, napkins which we enjoyed the most. Having kitchen at each level was very helpful to brew coffee, etc. Metro is just 5 mins away, also Target, pharmacy, nail salons, bank and much more. Everyone enjoyed their stay at this rental. I would highly recommend this rental. Thanks Lois, you were wonderful to work with!

Perfect!
This listing was all it said it would be. My party of 9 were all at home and comfortable. Since we were 4 adults upstairs and 5 young adults on the 2nd floor, the accommodations were perfect, even to the point that the 3rd floor bathroom was in the hallway making it accessable to our "princesses" (LOL)!! Lois was a wonderful hostess, with easy to follow instructions and helpful tips. The on street parking and general area was so convienient traveling around DC was a snap and worry free. After a day of visiting the attractions at the museums, the 1st floor "sitting room" gave us a wonderful gathering room. We all enjoyed the local nightlife too! We plan on returning! Thanks Lois for providing us a fun & safe place to see DC!
