About this property

A HIDDEN GEM AT THE END OF THE GARDEN PATH!

A Cottage In The City

A riding stable formerly converted during the World War II era, originally the earlier owners wanted to replace it with a new house, however, they were unable due to the war effort and decided to turn it into a charming little cottage instead. We tried to keep as much of the original work to keep its true essence.

As you open the iron gates and walk past the roses at the entrance of the garden path passing one of two outdoor seating areas, you will find the cottage which is hidden from the street at the end and you will see the red door to the Little Cottage in the City.

This home is found on a quiet street (once school is let out) within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, tea shops, boutiques, flower shops, and Asian markets. A perfect neighborhood for evening walks, as you will see many of our neighbors do.

You can also enjoy reading a good book in the backyard while relaxing on our custom-built lounger or you may enjoy picking some fresh vegetables and herbs from our little garden, which changes seasonally.

Conveniently located in the heart of San Gabriel Valley, 15 minutes from downtown LA. 10 minutes from Pasadena, and minutes from the 10 Fwy.

We hope you enjoy our little cottage in the city at 8 Palms.

A cozy cottage indeed!

We absolutely loved our stay at this cozy cottage in the city! It was everything and more than we had hoped for. The home is impeccably clean and decorated and communication with the hosts was great. Bart met us there upon our arrival to get us all set up. He was so friendly and offered some great suggestions of places to visit in the area. Tatiana stopped by to drop off some items for the new grill and was so kind and helpful as well. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and it was especially nice to have the extra powder room and the washer and dryer. A designated off street parking spot was a big plus too! The sofa bed was even comfortable which we have found is often not the case. It was very hot during our stay but the window air conditioners worked well to cool us off and the temperature dropped in the evenings which made it lovely for us to enjoy our evening meals out in the adorable and very private courtyard. We enjoyed picking fresh herbs and veggies from the garden during our stay and there were fresh lemons from the tree out back that we loved using in our drinks! We were just sad that the avocados on the tee out front were not yet ready to pick, how great that would be! The location was perfect, set back from the street and very quiet, with easy access to the freeway and so many great shops and restaurants nearby. Thank you Matt & Tatiana for the use of your beautiful home! We would not hesitate to stay there again!

Great Stay In a Tough Situation

What happened was our house flooded when a sprinkler in our attic broke. Suddenly, we were out of a home and had no where to go. We ended up at the Hilton but knew that we'd need a more permanent "home" while sorting through insurance, etc. The place is just like the pictures, they've really put a lot of finishing touches on it that other units simply don't have. A big thank you to you two.. you really made being out of our home as comfortable as it could have been! Bottom Line... it's a great, quaint cottage, and the owners were a pleasure to work with. They really went out of their way to take care of us and all communication was answered quickly and professionally.

We are a fun loving couple, been married over 7 years (yeah we made it pass the 7 year itch) Matt is from down under and I was born and raise under the California sun. We hope you love your stay at 8 Palms, our little cottage in the city.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the quaintness and the potential of the property among the noises of the city. We love the fact the house has a history that dates back to World War II. We wanted to keep the original charm of the cottage, especially since so many property owners in the neighborhood are destroying the old charm to make it more modern. I don't think they know what they are tearing down.

We hope once you enter through the iron gates you will immediately start to relax, and when you enter through the red doors you will feel at home.

We planted our first vegetable garden in the courtyard in hopes to have fresh veggies for your tables. We also planted Bougainvilleas on one wall and Night Jasmine on another wall to enhance the feeling of relaxation.
