My husband and I stayed here for eight nights, and our experience was EXCELLENT.
The description of the space that Scott and Bisera have composed is very accurate, so take the time to read it, because they truly represent the accommodations as they are.
Things worth emphasizing:
-- The unit was very clean.
-- The neighborhood is so quiet and safe that we left the front door open every night, locking only the screen door, and left the windows open as well (all the windows have safety stops). A single woman traveling alone would feel completely at ease here.
-- The bed is every bit as comfortable as described. Wow!
-- The kitchen is very well equipped. We cooked most nights and had almost everything we could have wanted.
-- The house is ALWAYS comfortable. During the heat of the day, the space felt cool; in the chill of the evening, the space felt cozy.
-- There are multiple outdoor spaces where you can read, relax, watch hummingbirds while you have your morning coffee, watch the sunset while you enjoy an evening cocktail, etc. If love being outside and prefer to sit in the sun, there's always a spot for you. If you love being outside and prefer the shade, there's always a spot for you.
-- From this location, you can easily drive anywhere and everywhere. We went to the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas; we explored the tide pools at Cabrillo National Monument; we went sailing in San Diego Bay; we spent a day in La Jolla; we ended most days at the dog beach at Ocean Beach. Everything was a short drive from "home". Bonus: If you want to use public transportation, the Morena/Linda Vista trolley station is nearby. You can park there for free, take the trolley into town, and hop on and off trolleys and buses all day long with a $5 MTS day pass (a great way to get to and from a Padres game without the hassle of traffic and parking).
-- Grocery and drug stores are close by, as are several gyms (if you belong to LA Fitness, there's a gym in nearby Kearny Mesa). Tecolote Canyon is practically in the back yard -- easy, pretty day-hiking.
We did not use the television at all, but we did avail ourselves of books from the large, eclectic collection available -- nice touch!
If we need accommodations in San Diego in the future, we will happily stay here again. If you're looking for something fancy or hip, this spot is not for you. If you're looking for a place that feels like home, you'd be hard-pressed to do better.
