About this property

Coyote Casita

Dark skies for stargazing and abundant wildlife make this incredibly peaceful spot a true gem. No cleaning fees!

Vacation - or stay longer - at Rancho del Viento. You can see more about us on our website. Experience its dark skies for stargazing, abundant wildlife, private arroyo, and peaceful spaces. The Rancho sits on the edge of the Galisteo Basin, and the center of Santa Fe Plaza is an easy 15-mile drive.

Casa Arroyo is a perfect balance of Santa Fe city access and the wide-open lands of New Mexico's outdoors. Stargaze or sunbathe in the casita's lovely outdoor living spaces, enjoy your close proximity to our arroyo from which shy deer and elusive coyotes might emerge, or slip out the back gate of the Rancho onto over 4,000 acres of the Galisteo Basin for walking, hiking & cycling.

Coyote Casita is one level, with over 1,200 square feet. The casita features high ceilings, tile floors, natural fiber rugs, and abundant amenities.

Coffee service, simple breakfast items, snacks, and samples of alcoholic drinks made in New Mexico are included in your amenities, and wonderful local restaurants are a short drive for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Santa Fe, Galisteo Basin Preserve, and many more destinations are easily accessible from Rancho del Viento.

You will have the entire casita to yourself!

We live on the property and are available for any questions or needs. We try to say hello to all of our guests but give you your privacy.

Pets must be pre-approved. Up to 2 dogs will be considered, with a pet fee of $20 per night, per pet. We also have a few guidelines for your pup:
1) Dogs may not be left unattended. We charge for any damage done by your dog. Our concierge can arrange pet sitting if needed.
2) Please keep dogs off the beds or furniture. Please request dog beds and blankets if needed. We charge a $100 cleaning fee if dog hair, dirt or mud must be cleaned from the beds or furniture.
3) Please prevent excessive barking.
4) Please up all poop immediately. Poop is hard to find on this terrain, and if left in place will contaminate our water supply. We charge $10 per pile to remove waste that is left on the property.

A Hidden Gem

I am afraid to leave a review of this hidden gem in Lamy for selfish reasons but happy for others to experience this wonderful desert oasis. The Coyote Casita is beautiful, well decorated, super clean, and has all the amenities one needs for a weekend stay or more! Thank you Sharon and Clem for making our trip to visit family a wonderful experience! Thank you also for the treats! We look forward to our next visit!

We loved Coyota Casita & it's rural location!

The Casita had everything we needed for our 6 week stay. We loved the rural experience of being away from Santa Fe,yet close enough to make frequent forays into town to explore all the cultural sites, events and festivities over the holiday season. We especially loved having acres to explore right outside in the "back yard"! And,having the Galisteo Basin to hike in,just down the road was quite a bonus!Clem and Sharon are WONDERFUL hosts! We look forward to coming back!Clem and Sharon are the

Quiet casita near Galisteo Basin one of a pair

Modernized spacious quiet welcoming casita; landscape views are not spectacular but sunsets sunrises and stars impressive. Quiet and yet the thoughtful and generous owners are responsive and right on property. Nice touches like wonderful giant welcoming muffins. Yogurts. Coffee. 1/2 and 1/2. good modern plug-in platforms for use of computers, mobile phones in study area and bedroom. Nice standup shower.Bedroom needs heavier drapes to block morning sun from shining at sunrise through and around current drapes. My wife found bed pillow too high annd spongy for her cushiinbcpap. Otherwise everything including clothes washer and dryer up-to-date.I wish we had had more time just to hang out there a bit.25-minute drive from SF airport. Close to Cafe Fina, Harry’s, and The Legal Tender and the grocery store, print UPS shop, coffee shop and Gyros shop in Eldorado shopping area.

About the host

Hosted by Sharon and Clem Williams

Host profile image
We are Sharon and Clem, owners of Rancho del Viento since 2024. We moved here to replace the crowded mountains and highways of Colorado with the easy lifestyle and wide open skies and spaces of Northern New Mexico. Clem's great-uncle was a prominent citizen of Santa Fe many years ago, which forged our connection to this vibrant, international city.

We are passionate about each other, our family and friends, our rancho, our community, and hospitality. We love it best when laughter, food, outdoor adventures and stories fill the days and when all the beds are filled at night. You can find us on our rooftop deck many nights, watching the stars, planets and Milky Way emerge in the dark skies. We are up early to catch the sunrises, and stop everything to marvel at the sunsets. We feed many birds and watch for the ever-elusive coyotes to emerge from the arroyo. In 2025, we will be busy with landscaping projects, sowing sunflower seeds in our open space, building a chicken coop, and planning new outdoor spaces.

Rancho del Viento can be translated as "Ranch of the Wind" or "Ranch of Encouragement." Our guests don't want to leave the peace and tranquility of the rancho, and we don't either! If travel takes us from home, we feel a little lost being away and impatient to return. Find new spaces in yourself, as we did, in this land that never lost its way. Come for an unforgettable stay in the Land of Enchantment.
