Waterfront Cottage on Kentucky Lake

Nestled in a Kentucky Lake Penninsula in Buchanan, Tennessee, this quaint, country cottage has a dazzling view with a back patio and steps leading right to the water's edge. Fish for bass, catfish, and bluegills right from the large, private dock or just set back and enjoy the nostalgia of a cabin that once was the getaway place of Merle Kilgore. One of Nashville's greatest country music industry music moguls and a multi-hit songwriter, Merle used to come here all the time to write and to relax. Sometimes even stars like Hank Williams Jr., Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker, and others would end up hanging out here with Merle at this quiet, lazy, lakehouse retreat. Affectionately named 'The Boogie Shack', there are still many pictures of Merle and various celebrities on the walls so that you can enjoy the place's history. It'll almost make you feel like you are staying at a little, waterfront museum.
Conveniently close to the the Paris Landing State Park, you really just can't beat the location. It's rather spacious, too. Having the capacity to sleep twelve with 5 pull-out beds(4 doubles and 1 queen-size), one four-post bed(also a queen) in the main bedroom, a large living room with cable TV, a complete kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and a washer and dryer, you'll have everything you need. Whether you are planning a family vacation or a fishing trip with your buddies, boogie on down to the Boogie Shack. You won't be disappointed.

Waterfront Cottage - Fun, Beautiful Sunrises & Sunsets

This was such a great getaway! We All enjoyed the tranquility, the beautiful Sunrises & Sunsets! The Country Music memorabilia throughout the Cabin was enjoyed by All of US, very interesting and truly amazing. We have All said that We look forward to Our next stay at the Boogie Shack! I Myself enjoyed communicating with Evon. Evon was so helpful and really informative. Communicating with Evon sealed the deal for staying at this Cabin and wanting to stay there again and truly looking forward to staying again very soon!

AVOID THIS PLACE

The online pics are old…this property is in need of upkeep, cleaning, and updated pics. I feel like I got catfished via VRBO rentals. The grass was overgrown and the place looked abandoned, and then on our last day some stranger in a white van showed up at 8am on Sunday morning to do the yard. This cut into our privacy and the peaceful environment was ruined. Inconsiderate to us after paying 1000 for a long weekend. Also…it was filthy dirty inside. The sheets had blood stains (I slept on towels the first night) and there is dog hair all over the floor and furniture. This place is OVERPRICED for what it offers. Don’t stay at the Boogie Shack.

Boogie Shack

Quiet older place in good condition. Cool location on the water. Had the boat dock been repaired since the tornado it would have been perfect for our trip. But that was a minor inconvenience with several marinas near by.

Second Stay at the Boogie Shack

This was our second visit to the Boogie Shack this year. We're from central IL, so it is a great spot to meet up with our Nashville friends for a relaxing weekend. The Boogie Shack has a lot of character which we enjoy. We've had 5 in our party for both visits and have let a couple sleep in the one bed while the others used the couches and/or blow up mattresses. The deck has ample room and is where we spent most of the time eating and drinking if we weren't down hanging out at the dock. Overall, it's a solid bang for your buck place to hang out with friends for the weekend. Nothing too fancy - just a cool, clean cabin on the water with a great view.

Cozy home on the lake

We’ve stayed at the boogie shack a couple of times now and the home is outstanding. The owner was very quick to answer any questions we had. It’s really comfortable and has everything you need for a lake getaway!

Very nice location on the lake

A nice property whether you want to stay indoors or out. It has comfortable seating throughout, air conditioning, three tvs and plenty of space. A very nice patio as well, for sitting and dining outside. The dock is on a very quiet cove, perfect for swimming and small craft. The dock itself is a little run down, so isn’t ideal for a larger boat, but it’s functional. This was a great location to take young people who don’t mind spending nights on air mattresses and fold-out beds. The one adult got the bedroom, though did have to share a bathroom with seven other boys. Overall a fantastic stay.

Perfect Retreat

Loved, loved, loved the Bogey Shack. What a perfect place to recharge our batteries. The location was absolutely amazing, the views were stunning and the house was well maintained, clean with nearly everything we needed for weekend. Can't wait to return!!!

Quaint country lodgings & beautiful lake setting

Beautiful location and quiet cove off the main lake. We enjoyed the convenience of the boat house and 2 level deck with grille and propane fire pit. The evenings at the “shack” were probably our favorite part of the day. The cottage is quaint and well equipped with the essentials. The beds could be better but we anticipated that and brought our own air mattresses. Overall we enjoyed our 10 days and Yvonne is a dedicated property manager and keeper of the Kilgore name. Thanks for preserving a piece of American country music history.

Boogie Shack Vacation

This property was fantastic, the deck and view of the lake were amazing. The boat house worked great for my boat, I launched from Cypress Bay just around the corner and was to the boat house in about 5 minutes or less. The photographs and decor in the house were great to look at and the furniture was clean and comfortable. If I have the good fortune to make it back to the area I would definitely stay here again, highly recommended.

Loved the Boogie Shack!

We were very impressed with everything. The pictures do not do it justice. It was very well stocked, clean and very comfortable. The best part was the history. Loved the pictures on the wall and I even read a great book about Merle Kilgore while there. We also loved the dock and boathouse. Great fishing.. Caught a few large catfish among other things. We cannot wait to go back!

Fun Time!

We wish we could have stayed longer! Very cool and eclectic place. We enjoyed swimming off the dock. The deck is beautiful and has a nice electric fire pit. They provided all the roasting sticks and citronella candles. Plenty of beach towels and linens. The grill is an added bonus. We did get a call after my father and son did some shooting target practice that the neighbors were worried. We didn’t mean to cause any problems. Everything was great!

Great place!

This was the perfect spot for our family of 7 adults and one toddler to come and decompress for a few days. The cabin was super clean and had all the amenities we needed. The outdoor space is fantastic. It was very nice being able to launch our boat and leave it in the covered slip overnight, making for early morning fishing so easy. We all loved our stay here and would definitely stay here again.

Unplug at the lake

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. Very clean and very relaxing. Only 1 small issue was the mattress may be in need of a replacement.
