About this property

Waterfront on Lake Cowichan - Available from October 15, 2025.

Due to local bylaws, we have a firm 30 day minimum rental. Rentals 30 nights or longer don't incur the BC accommodation tax.

We have availability for up to a 4 month rental anytime between October 15, 2025 and May 15, 2026.

Regular 1 month rentals are available at the posted rate and include BC Hydro up to $200 per month. Message directly if you have questions.

Enjoy 70 feet of swimmable lakefront with a private dock at our Lake House. Our Lake House is located in an executive neighborhood and offers you incredible lakefront living in our 2200 sq/ft 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom walkout. Unlike some properties, our house is DIRECTLY on the lake. This is one of the nicest and newest neighborhoods in all of Lake Cowichan.

The house consists of 3 levels: The master bedroom Is 500 square feet and occupies the entire upper level. There is also a trundle bed with 2 single size beds in this room if you wish for your children to sleep with you. The master bedroom area takes up the entire top floor so there is lots of room. There is also a full en-suite bathroom with tub and shower and walk in closet on this level. The main (middle level) contains a beautiful kitchen complete with granite counter tops, immaculate stainless steel appliances, and an enormous butcher block island that seats 4 easily. The living room has 2 leather couches and a flat screen TV. The walkout lower level contains 2 bedrooms and a separate open rec room that we use as a 4th bedroom. There is also a full shared bathroom on this level. There is a full walkout deck on all 3 levels of the house and ALL of the bedrooms have a view of the lake.

Our home is child friendly! There are manual alarms on each of the lakeside doors that act as a siren if the doors are opened. Also, we live on a private flat road that has almost no traffic - perfect for little ones who want to ride their bikes. We do not have traditional cable - we have a Roku TV that is enabled for internet TV. If you have Netflix or Amazon PRIME, these can be accessed on our TV. We have Internet service with 75 MBPS. **We have had approximately 10 rentals over the last 10 years - 3 of the families have gone on to buy on our street and become neighbors! The lake is located 20 minutes (31 kilometers) west of Duncan along Highway 18. Our Lake House is approximately a 1 hour drive from the Nanaimo ferry terminal or 1 hour 15 minutes from the Victoria ferry terminal. The Town of Lake Cowichan is a 5 minute drive away and amongst other things, has: a BC Liquor store, a full grocery store, a variety of stores, pubs, and restaurants.

Please compare rates - the cost of renting our property for 1 month is approximately the same cost of a 1 week rental at a comparable property! At this time, we are only able to accept a 30 night minimum rental. Please do not contact us for rentals less than the required 30 night period - due to bylaw restrictions we cannot accept them. The 30 night period does not have start at the beginning of the month. We will work with our schedule and yours. We only rent it out once per summer - so contact us now to secure your time spot! **Please double check that you have your VRBO settings (upper right corner) to Canadian dollars. Thanks!

Beautiful Lake Cowichan

The house is exactly as is shown in the pictures, 3 bedrooms on the lower level and the master on the top level. Directly on the lake. I spent as much time as I could sitting on a chair on the private dock reading or taking phone calls. There isn't a lot to do directly around the house but I would recommend the drive to Port Renfrew. The drive alone is stunning, and the area over there is equally as beautiful. We would regularly drive over there for the day and didn't find it too far for day trips. John and Lisa are great hosts and were very quick to reply to questions I had or make suggestions of things to do. While we were there the oven quit and John worked tirelessly to get it fixed right away - so bonus to the next guests, there is a new stove ;-). They are very conscientious about COVID-19 and helped to ensure that everything was properly cleaned and don't allow partying, etc. So if that is what you are looking for this isn't the place. If you want a peaceful place on the lake. this is it! We would stay here again in an instant. This is a great place to call home for a while.

Uniquely off the grid

The lakeside home is a superb seasonal getaway. With the focus on outdoor activities, winter has it's challenges. Still, the landscape is hauntingly beautiful and a town with all the amenities is a relatively short drive away.

wonderful holiday at lake cowichan lake house!!

We were so happy with our experience at this beautiful property. For us, the best part was the location, right on the water. We were able to bring our 20 ft Malibu wakeboard boat and keep it at the dock belonging to this property. The lake is so clear, clean and deep- but not too cold for swimming. We definitely fell in love with Lake Cowichan. We also brought our own canoe and paddle boards and were able to keep these down in the dock area as well. The property has very easy access from the highway to Duncan and to the town of Lake Cowichan itself. The lake house itself was perfect for us. Very clean, comfortable and well stocked. It was a pleasure to stay in. All the amenities you would expect were available. The neighbourhood and neighbours were great. I would not want to change anything about this property and hope to have the chance to do a repeat holiday next year!

A Truly Wonderful Place!

We had a fabulous time during our four week stay in July - Aug 2014. The home is located in a great part of the lake, and we enjoyed walks and scooter rides on the quiet street, and excellent swimming and tubing...we even watched the Perseid meteor shower from the upper balcony! The home is clean, comfortable, modern and has a very well equipped kitchen. The owners were fantastic to deal with: friendly, efficient and answered any and all our questions in a timely manner. We were sad to leave and would definitely stay here again!

Such a great place to get away

We booked the house for a month in April. We were looking for a quiet place by the lake, where we could enjoy lots of outdoor activities and still find decent coffee close by. The coffee ended up being a stretch, but the rest was fabulous, perfect! The house has just about everything you need and the owners were great to deal with, they really made it so easy to enjoy their house. The property is an easy 25 minute drive into the centre of Duncan. If you are into hiking, biking, running, there are so many options in this area you will never be bored. If you just want to chill out at the house, this is very easy to do as well. I greatly enjoyed a morning tea on the dock. The neighbourhood is very friendly and is a very safe place for kids to run around. The house itself is set up really well for children. If you have problems climbing stairs, this is not your ideal property, unless of course you are just happy to sit back and enjoy the lovely view. There is a transport bus that can be picked up from Lake Cowichan that takes you into Duncan if you are without a car, but I would suggest a car is necessary for a stay at this property. I do hope that we are fortunate enough to spend another month at this great house.
