This lovely vintage house was very charming and set on a beautiful stretch of the wood river. There is a deck to relax on and large yard. The hosts were very kind and easy to communicate with.
We had four adults during this trip and this house was more than enough space for us. We had a fabulous time with the fire pit outside watching the stars and listening to the water. Got up the next morning and had a quick drive to the park and had a great day at Crater Lake! I’d stay here again.
This review is from a retired adventure couple. The River house was the perfect base camp for our adventures. We were close to Crater Lake, Diamond Lake horseback riding and fishing, Beckie's Cafe and waterfall hikes, and a Wood River kayak tour. Jo's Organic grocery proved to be a great place for us to get dinner and cook in the well-equipped kitchen. The house was clean and comfortable; everything worked. There are fish in the Wood River, but they are hard to catch. Tim and Jean were easy to contact if we needed anything. We would definitely come back.
This place has the look and feel of an old ranch house that has had additions built onto to over the decades. While it is clear that the house (or at least portions of) have been around a long time, it has been well modernized with kitchen and bathroom renovations. The deck is huge with lots of chairs and table that can be moved around as needed to take advantage of the shade. There are also some nice touches such as a horseshoe pits and a fire pit that are located nearby. It is an ideal place for families and small groups. Tim was very responsive to messages and really good to work with.
Enjoyed our stay. Great location for going to Crater Lake. Owner was very helpful when there was a power outage in the area. The outage was quickly restored. Beautiful grounds. Thanks for a great stay.
We loved kicking our shoes off and barefooting it by the waters edge. Wish the fishing was better, but that's OK

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Adequate home, beautiful property, fast access to CL NP
Tim was great to work with - clear and timely communication. We knew from photos the house wasn't remodeled, but it's sorely out of date and lacking the function of an updated home. Most windows don't open, old sinks, terribly worn tub, no AC in two bedrooms.

Mediocre at Best
The proximity to Crater Lake Park entrance is the best part of this property. Otherwise, the home itself is mediocre. The single bathroom is quite old and dingy. The toilet is loose and detached from the wall when you sit on it. ‘Air conditioning’ is also not an accurate description. They had a very old, dirty window AC unit in the king bedroom, and a fan in another. The river is beautiful, but other than that we were disappointed. We would not stay here again.
This beautiful property held our extended family with space to hang out together both inside and outside. Great living room for movie nights and great lawn for outdoor games. We floated down the Wood River and got out at the property since it is right along the river. We absolutely loved our stay here!
This place looks exactly like the pictures. It's a charming little house on the river. The grounds are very nice, there is a horseshoe pit, a bbq, a fire pit and a lot of chairs and picnic tables. The kitchen was well appointed and was easy to work in. The fan doesn't work above the stove, but if you opened the kitchen window it didn't seem to be a problem. There are a LOT of spices and condiments there, so you probably don't need to bring that.
Contrary to the listing, there IS a smart TV and it worked great. We streamed Netflix all week with no problems. There is also a DVD player.
The beds were comfy and it has good water pressure.
I gave 4 stars for location because it's close to Crater lake, but you have to drive 12 miles to the casino gas station for gas station type groceries. If you want real groceries you have to drive 35 miles to Klamath Falls. He stated it was remote in the listing, I'm just saying for me personally it was a little TOO remote. Ha! Ha! So either plan on a long drive or make sure you bring your own food from town or home for the week. We went to the organic health store in Ft. Klamath and it cost $25 for a loaf of bread and a pound of butter....Make sure you don't forget anything, or just plan on a day trip to go get it. The drive to Klamath Falls isn't unpleasant. It's scenic.
Overall, nice place, nice trip. We came back well rested!
Very comfortable house. Looked exactly and was equipped as advertised, except that there was no porta-potty. Lovely setting on the river. Quiet. Internet worked although we did not stream movies, etc. Cell coverage (Verizon) is spotty in that area.
We were there on a cold spring weekend and it was warm and toasty with the furnace and gas fireplace, plus some electric heaters. Beds were comfortable.
Convenient to Crater Lake.
We would definitely come back.
This place was so beautiful. I loved the charm of the old house coupled with the peaceful river next to the property! I wish that we could have stayed longer, we were passing through on our way to Crater Lake. Communication was great and fast with the owner!
Great place for our family trip to Crater Lake NP. Nice location for all the activities. River access was awesome. Only downside was the porta pot as second bathroom. Not a deal breaker and I understand the cost and effort for another. All in all a very nice place to call a home base while in Fort Klamath. Thanks for sharing your place.
This place is amazing! The property is very well maintained and larger than it looks in the pictures, and nicer! I will definitely stay here again anytime I'm near Crater Lake! Incredible view of the sky/stars too! Host was very responsive and friendly, and the location is very convenient and close to local shops and attractions. The house was in fine working order and no problems at all.
The Riverhouse was a great location for access to Crater Lake. We loved the older house with plenty of room for seven and the huge property, fire pit, deck and river. The only drawback is that there is only one bathroom and a pit toilet. For a large group it was somewhat problematic but not a huge minus. There were also a couple of small problems when the toilet had flushing problems and I was stung by wasps when I opened the garage where the bikes were stored. The owner responded fast on the toilet.
This property is beautiful and the house is really cute. The bed in the master is very comfortable. However, the downsides outweighed the positives for my family. I was sad there was no dishwasher but I suppose I could have found that out by reading the ad more carefully. We were traveling with 5 kids so lots of dishes. The Wi-Fi kept going out. There is only enough hot water for 2-3 showers. Lastly, the ad is deceptive by stating there are 2 bathrooms. There is one bathroom and a porta potty.
Cozy home with comfortable beds , cute kitchen , dining room and living room. Great big deck and a lovely large lawn for frisbee games, hide and seek and more. Biggest drawback is only one full bath inside the house. Half bath is a Porta potty outside. Very convenient to Rim Village - only 23 miles. Great area for cycling.
The property location on the river is very nice and grass is nicely trimmed. The house, itself, is old and hasn’t had a lot of renovation done to it. It is clean but the furniture, for the most part is at least 20 years old. For the price they charge, it really is overpriced based on the condition of the house itself.
Love this property and loved fishing the river even though I didn’t catch anything. This was the 2nd time staying here. Bring mosquito spray because they swarm.
The property was nice and a great deal with its proximity to Crater Lake. The stream connected to the property was beautiful and our dog had the time of his life. When the power went out in the whole community (and all the way up to Crater Lake!) The property owners were helpful in fulfilling some requests we had. It was a great place and made the trip much better!

I grew up 15 miles from The Riverhouse and have admired this property since I was a child. We have 4 sons between us and 10 grand children. Number 11 is on the way. We love the Riverhouse and spend as much time in Southern Oregon as possible.
Why they chose this property
If you want privacy and peace come to the Riverhouse. Sit on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the river go by. Birds are chirping, Eagles overhead. Fish from the yard, play horse shoes, just enjoy the nataral beauty of this property. BBQ on the deck at dinner time, enjoying the river and birds and squirrels. Gaze at the Milky Way and the rest of the Heavens at night.
What makes this property unique
Close to Crater Lake. An Oregon State fish hatchery 5 miles away. Peace and quiet in your own place. Lots of trails to hike and bike. Seven Lakes Basin is just a ten minute drive, Klamath Basin is home to two national wildlife refuges. Sun Pass State Forest is ten minutes north, the historic Fort Klamath site is two minutes drive or a nice 15 minute walk. I recommend the walk to the Fort to take in the Cascade Mountain range, the cattle grazing on miles of pasture, it's just a great place to see.
