Hello!
My connection to Shelter Island runs pretty deep. Thirty years ago, I discovered this secluded corner of Long Island—what locals fondly call the 'Un-Hamptons'—and immediately recognized its unique character. Over the decades, my family has created countless memories here, spending summers and holidays on the Island.
Now based in Hong Kong ( I work as an executive recruiter) I've maintained this property as a personal retreat. Sharing it with guests allows me to offer others the same opportunity to experience Shelter Island's distinctive tranquility. I really try and not think of this as another Hamptons rental—it's a more carefully curated space thats supposed to reflect the island's 'vibe'.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape, an opportunity to explore local nature, or a place to gather friends and family, I think you're going to love it here.
Enjoy,
Christine

Why they chose this property
What makes this property special is its exceptional privacy. Nestled on what was once a lima bean farm over 100 years ago, the land is completely surrounded by mature trees that create a natural barrier from neighboring properties. When we built here, we were careful to preserve Shelter Island's unique character and agricultural heritage.
The location offers a true retreat—quiet, secluded, and deeply connected to the island's landscape. Unlike other Hamptons properties, this spot feels genuinely removed from the world, with nothing but trees and natural surroundings defining the space.

What makes this property unique
I think what makes this property truly special is how we designed it for bringing people together. As someone who loves hosting big family gatherings, I purposely created a space where everyone can comfortably spread out while still feeling connected. We've got multiple living rooms and reading nooks so groups can have both shared and private moments.
With two full kitchens and plenty of dishwashers, meal prep and cleanup are a breeze for large groups. The expansive lawn is great for games and even offers surprise wildlife visits—deer and birds that wander through, adding a bit of extra charm. It's basically the perfect spot for those family and friend reunions where everyone can truly relax and enjoy each other's company.
