The space
We are a local couple raised in Atlanta and this perfect location was our home for 8 years. With lots of TLC and loving care, we rehabbed this house from being a 'tear down' to a TREASURE! It has been featured in several national magazines because of its unique characteristics. It is totally made of metal. That is right....metal. It is called a "Lustron".

I was born here, went to college here, started a thriving business here, and found true love here. But I’ve been to many other cities and countries and believe, wholeheartedly, that I live in the best city in the world.

There’s just so much to do whether you love culture – museums, galleries, theater, music, nightclubs – or are drawn to more outdoor activities like hiking, biking, strolling through historic districts and/or checking out all the modern marvels. And it’s family friendly as well – zoos, children’s museums, and the Georgia Aquarium.

Totally one of a kind. We hang our photo with suction cups and magnets. This property is on the National Historic Register.

TERRIFIC!!!

I rented this lovely property to spend Thanksgiving holiday with family. The property is gorgeous and perfectly decorated to period. We did not have any amenities missing. Can't say enough about the location... everything is extremely close and easy access to anything from shopping to tourist venues in the Atlanta area. Sarah was attentive and a terrific host checking periodically with me to ensure we did not need anything during our stay. Would highly recommend this property for any stay in the area. I will definitely be staying here in my future travels to Atlanta.

Unique Experience

We were looking forward to a unique experience in this retro landmark. We were challenged by the lack of heat when we needed it, the noise from the cars gunning their engines during the night and the outdated appliances as well as the temperamental toilet.

Great location, Unique property

This small bungalow with metal interior walls and ceiling, is an interesting historic oddity. Great fun to stay in. Perfect location providing easy access to Buckhead and midtown. Pro's: Interesting property. Very comfortable. Great location. Con's: AC window units a little loud, though they work just fine. Outside patio furniture had not been dusted, though inside was very clean.

Moving day

I was moving my daughter Atlanta and rented the house for 3 nights. It was amazing to see such unique architecture. The house was decorated from the 60’s and reminded me of growing up in that era. Sarah was great to work with. The house was comfortable and clean.

Comfortable House in the Middle of Everything

I enjoyed my brief stay in this little bungalow. It is an adorable kit house from the 1950's and the owner had done an excellent job keeping it in nice shape. Good bedding, good towels, good pillows. Only suggestion is that it was dark when I arrived and there were no motion detector lights. Thanks!

Charming Bungalow!

What a charming place to stay in Atlanta! I highly recommend staying here during your visit. The place is charming, a perfect size for my party, and very clean. Sarah Kathryn, the owner, makes it so easy to stay here and was such a pleasure to talk to. I would recommend to any of my friends.

Great Bungalow in the City

What a fabulous location! We arrive and were right at home. Sarah Kathryn, the owner, was very helpful and accomodating. The bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms were all clean and ready for us when we arrived. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in the city!

Love this charming home!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this cozy home in Atlanta. I stayed for a few days, and this was the perfect location in the city. The owner, Sarah Kathryn, was so easy to communicate with and so accommodating. This home was well decorated, cozy, and felt like home. I will definitely be staying here again, when I'm back in the Atlanta area. I would recommend this place to a friend for sure.

Nice location, cleanliness below average

Chose this location to be close to my daughter's apartment on Collier Street. Great neighborhood, walked to my daughter's and walked to Tanyard Creek Park several times using pedestrian crosswalks and sidewalks. Beautiful location and landscaped very nice. House was musty and missing bathroom door which was broken, curtain was used in place of a door. Refrigerator was filthy which we brought to the owner's attention. She checked it out, apologized and compensated us for the issue but did not clean it. Parking was tight but we were able to deal with it. Owner responded to my late evening text when we arrived and answered my home access and parking questions - which we appreciated. Basically a great neighborhood location but house cleanliness was below average.

Owner was extremely accommodating during our stay and even made entertainment suggestions! Highly recommend and plan to stay again!

Small & Quaint Historic Bungalow

we rented this property for a long 3 week stay to set up and attend a trade show in Atlanta. Sarah, the owner was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The bungalow is old but tastefully dated and decorated to match the period in which the house was built which is what gives it it's charm and designation as a historical landmark. Sarah takes pride in that and has done a great job of maintaining the integrity of it's unique character. It was very clean! The wifi was fine, nice patio areas to relax in front and back of house, ample parking. super convenient location to many areas of Atlanta (just a few exits from downtown). It is set back on a busy street and although a very safe neighborhood, nothing to walk to for food and drink. It fit our needs perfectly. we would recommend this property.

The Lustron has a perfect location, great character, and everything you could need!

I stayed in this house for an internship with a roommate for two months where I commuted to downtown Atlanta each day and it was perfect! 12-15 minute commute, couldn't have worked out better. The location was more than awesome, easy uber ride to Buckhead and anywhere else on the weekends. The Lustron is awesome, it was decorated adorably and felt very homey! There was everything in there that we could have needed. The side porch was a bonus, loved siting outside and enjoying the oddly warm Atlanta winter. Even with someone staying in the loft above the garage in the back of the driveway, there was more than enough room for parking. Only downsides: The house is on a busy road right off of I-75, so road noise can be loud during the day and at night and did wake me up once or twice. Also, due to the unique metal style/composition of the house, most of the interior doors are pocket (sliding) doors which can fall off their tracks and become difficult to maneuver. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, I think it was an awesome place to stay long term, but I could also see this house being perfect for a fun weekend in Atlanta. Sarah Kathryn was so welcoming and helpful, she really made this place special. Would definitely come back!

Perfect Spot!

I had a wonderful 4 month stay at this Carriage House in Buckhead. It was the perfect spot for me to commute to my internship at Westminster Schools. The yard was well maintained and the landlord (Sarah) was responsive to all issues. I had a lot of lightbulbs burn out all at once and the ceiling was too tall for me to reach. I highly recommend this adorable rental!

Excellent

The house location was perfect for our downtown seminar. We enjoyed the books in the house about the history of the home as it is all made of metal. Sarah was great to work with, accessible and made sure we had every thing we needed when we got there.

Fantastic stay at a great location in Atlanta!

My family and I had the opportunity to stay in this wonderful little house in September. My two daughters absolutley loved it - the house is a historic "Lustron" and it has metal walls - and the neighborhood was fantastic. It's cute and very well decorated, and the owner has added many personal touches that make it feel like a special home. She also went out of her way to make sure we got settled and were well taken care of. I was in town on business and needed a good location - it was very centrally located to everything in Atlanta. We all wished we had more time to stay. We will be back next time we're in town!

Quirky, Cute and SOOO convenient!

Loved my time at the Lustron! Sarah Kathryn was so very accommodating as a hostess and has done an excellent job creating a comfortable, attractive 1950's oasis in the heart of Atlanta. Loved the side porch for coffee in the morning and will miss the the Lustron and its charm, karma and convenience!!!

Atlanta getaway

Fabulous location. The house is quaint but needs to be updated. New bath sink and clean out the drawers to make it look neater, get the doors to close and put curtains on the main bedroom window. The neighbor can see right in. Good for the price. Regards, George I I

Great time staying in architectural landmark!

We had an amazing three-month stay in this architectural landmark - a 1949 all-metal house known as a Lustron. It has been restored so well, and is chic and totally comfortable and user-friendly. The owner is incredibly generous and accommodating, intent on her guests having a great stay. The location is ideal - a few minutes from some of Atlanta's best restaurants, walking distance from banks and a grocery story, and a four minute drive from downtown while also just a hop skip and a jump from Buckhead. We were making a film while in town, and staying in a hotel after working long hours wouldn't have been nearly as worthwhile as having this house to come home to. I was nervous about what it would feel like living in a metal house, but I shouldn't have been. It's a perfect cozy retreat. No negatives whatsoever.

We are a local couple raised in Atlanta. This location is perfect and was our home for 8 years! With lots of TLC and loving care, we rehabbed this house from being a 'tear down' to a TREASURE! It has been featured in several national magazines because of its unique characteristics. It it totally made of metal and it is called a Lustron.

This home was built in 1949 so travelers need to understand what they are renting. A forgiving person who can ignore a little draft. And as a disclaimer this is on a busy road so there can be street traffic.

Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique

On the National Register of Historic Places, this one-of-a-kind all-metal house is situated in the southern-most part of Buckhead, one of the most expensive zip codes in Atlanta; but, because it is practically in Midtown, the area’s nicknamed “Bucktown.” In addition to having the convenience of a two-car garage, the backyard is cute, and the front porch affords great privacy.

A little backstory: over the course of eight wonderful years living here, we rehabbed this unique house from being a near “tear down” to a sparkling treasure that’s been featured in several national magazines. Given that it was originally built in 1949, be advised there may be the occasional draft. Also note it is on a busy street, so there can be traffic – but those are the only two downsides compared to innumerable upsides!
