Julian Wagon Wheel Retreat for large or small groups

This wonderful western home offers a warm country feel and a great mountain energy. The downstairs offers so many possibilities. There is a full kitchen fully stocked with all you need to cook, bake and enjoy preparing meals. There is a large, homey family space which can be used as two separate areas for one group to play cabin games, while others curl up in front of the wood burning stove and enjoy the over-sized comfortable leather couches and a good movie on the TV. There is a big master bedroom with a separate bath, allowing you to retire in comfort. Two more bedrooms offer additional sleeping space, while sharing a separate family room. These bedrooms, an accompanying bathroom and small living room can be closed off behind a dividing door, to allow privacy and the separate 2-bedroom suite.

Upstairs leads to even more space and delights. There is another full kitchen attached to a family room with a wood burning stove/fireplace and an opening couch. Connected to this room are two additional bedrooms each with its own bathroom.

Through the French doors you find another great living room which leads to two individual suites boasting their own bathrooms, private entrances, and access to all the fabulous decks on the back of the home.

This wonderful log trimmed home backs up to over 20 acres of wooded space allowing for walks, hikes, meditation and bird watching. The sounds, views and smells of the country surround and entice you to venture out into a great exploration of Julian's mountain wilderness. The property connects to horseback riding trails, bike trails, extensive hiking trails and any number of combinations. Perfect for family reunions, group retreats, corporate getaways, or just a little time with your family. There is a large propane grill inviting all to gather round and picnic, feast, or entertain. Most bedrooms and living rooms open onto decks allowing for enjoyment of the views and mountain air at any time of day or night. Completely private and natural.

This home is dog friendly with prior approval as well as a minimum $100 pet fee. We apologize we do not allow cats.

Another Wonderful Stay
This past Christmas in Julian was magical. It was the 1st time that we as a family have woken up together on Christmas morning in over 20 years! The kids had a tree to decorate together and the two kitchens allowed for lots of food and special preparation for Santa's cookies. Every request was responded to in 15 minutes! Thank you for another special holiday celebration space with the family. We loved the upgrades from last year!

We have stayed at the Wagon Wheel every year for well over a decade. It is the perfect place for our gymnastics team retreat and there is plenty of room for everyone. Barb and Samantha are always super responsive if we ever need anything. We love staying at "our" house!

Great Family Rental
So much space to spread out. Has a country/western theme through out the house. Plenty of clean linens. Most beds are comfortable. (Twins could use an upgrade). But we always have a great time at this home. There is even a Christmas Tree with ornaments in a box, so the kids could decorate/redecorate the tree. Highly recommend home for large groups.

Julian Getaway
We used this property for our church leadership retreat, and it worked out great. There was plenty of room both upstairs and down. I loved how so many rooms had individual bathrooms. The host was extremely communicative, friendly and professional. We saw several deer walk past the house each day we were there, and the fresh air of Julian is always a treat. Great place for a larger group getaway, or an intimate getaway for a smaller few.

Great to have two kitchens. And plenty of room for different activities in different areas of the house. Bring your own knives if you want them sharp. And don’t plan on any spices or cooking supplies, other than pots and pans. You will have to hunt for some light switches, so read the notes on the walls that give instructions.

Very fun place! The pool table and foos ball table were great additions. I liked that many of the bedrooms had their own bathroom and were for a couple (instead of multiple beds in one room). However, the room that slept 5 came in handy for our single guests. Two kitchens was a wonderful feature. I was able to serve the breakfast and have another kitchen for the party and dinner food. There was plenty of parking and the grounds were pleasant.

Out of town family wedding
Wonderful place for our family to congregate and stay for a weekend while we attended a wedding nearby. We had plenty of space to be together and to spread out. We played card games, pool, and other table games, visited outside in the deck and had a wonderful time.

A New Favorite Memory
We had our 6 kids, spouses and many of our grandkids together to celebrate my wife's 80th Birthday. It is so difficult to get all the kids together due to jobs, living long distances away and for them to be able to travel. So what a super time we had lounging around the cabin enjoying each other's company.

Responsible host, good size for 20 people.
We visited in spring. Heat are running fine, hot water sometimes cannot catch up with many people using showers. Did not use deck and backyard for activities. Rooms are ok. Some tiles in game room are broken. They actually upgraded all TV to LCD, however they’re very small for large group viewing. Hence bring your own projector and screen if required large screen (we use our cell phone as personal screen instead) Air hockey table (a bonus but occupying space) not working. Overall very positive experience and will visit again.

Great for larger groups
This is a very large, peaceful, and welcoming space for gatherings of multiple families. Two kitchens allow for different kinds of meal prep at the same time which was useful for our group of 19. There are effectively three living rooms in which to sit, read or play games/watch TV. We were especially grateful for the 4-5 separated bedroom areas where different families/groups of people could be somewhat isolated from others, while still being in the same location. The fireplace stoves are pretty to watch as the fire burns and you enjoy each other's company. There are a few things that are a bit worn/tired, but nothing kept us from having a good time with our friends with beautiful views of the surrounding oak forest out the windows.

Our group had a great time at the house! There are plenty of bathrooms for a large group. The double kitchen was very helpful with prepping meals and clean up. We hiked around the property and we loved the open space.

Amazing family getaway
We had an amazing fun relaxing stay! The cabin was bigger than we had imagine ! The pool table and the air hockey table were a surprise that the kids enjoyed. Very spacious, making hide and go seek real fun. With 2 kitchens we feasted every night. Drive to downtown Julian was about 10 min away. Great place for early AM runs as well! Overall a memorable and fun family getaway!

Great family meeting
A huge house with two big kitchens and a lot of space for play in and out of the house. The bedrooms and bathrooms give privacy, so it is comfortable to saty inside when weather is cold. There is a pool table, soccer, hockey table and board gases.

A Holiday to Remember
We had the pleasure of finding this place for our annual Holiday celebration. It was gorgeous. There was enough space to feel together as one and enough room for everyone to have personal space. The kids enjoyed playing and the dogs loved running around in the backyard. We grilled our way through the weekend and made great use of both kitchens. There was something to do for everyone. One of the favorites was that the piano could be heard throughout the house. Many of the nieces loved waking up to the sound of their cousin playing Christmas music in the morning hours. If you plan on coming in the winter, please bring extra blankets. The only thing that was difficult was keeping the temperature comfortable for all. One room in the very front didn't have curtains, a vent, or a space heater so they were very cold at night. However, the first room in the 2bd room suite on the 1st floor was overheated. Their room had a vent which meant they were sweating while the second room was warmed up. We took a family trip to the main town which was only 10 minutes away. It was cute and had plenty to look at and taste. The mango apple pie was delicious! It was a nice day's adventure. Parking is scarce but it was worth the trouble in finding a spot! Overall it is an amazing house. The decor was perfect and the older generation loved each painting and each piece they found around the home. We would LOVE to come back in the future.

Need lots of rooms and lots of space? Consider this place!
Our family of 18 (proud grandparents, three sons with spouses and 10 grandchildren) had a wonderful five days in this retreat. There was plenty of room to spread out! We had card games, tv watching and homework getting done without a problem. The two kitchens were great. We were able to locate most everything we needed to make our meals. Plenty of parking space is so helpful. Our family enjoyed the mountain cabin feel of this place-not brand new but very doable. First risers got the hot showers. If you hang your clothes- bring hangers. Management was helpful and ready to answer any questions. All in all, this was a great location for our retreat!
