One of a handful of cottages designed by renowned East Hampton architect Alfred Scheffer, interior includes original wood beams, wide plank cedar floor and walls. 4 Bedroom (2 upstairs, 2 downstairs), 2 bathroom cottage nestled in the Amagansett Dunes, just 200 yards from private beach. House is equipped with spacious private deck, outdoor shower, grill, boogie boards & beach toys, beach chairs, bicycles, washer/dryer, all necessary kitchen supplies, window unit a/c and working fireplace. Also cable tv/wifi.

A perfect getaway

Our family had a great time in this beautiful and comfortable home. All of the games, beach equipment and bikes were a bonus. It was very homey and so close to the beach. Owners are great to work with--very straight forward and simple. We will definitely be back

The beach was a few more yards than 200 yards, but it was a nice walk

Cottage was perfect for us. There were 4 adults and my 4 yr old grand daughter. It is beach cottage with no frills but all the necessities. There were plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, boogey boards and bikes. We came after the summer rush, so there were fewer people and the lane was nice and quiet. Wasn't grand by Hamptons standard, but that is exactly what we wanted. Nice and comfortable...beds were great. We lived on the side porch. Would be great if the owners repair the back patio. The bricks were sinking. There was cable and internet access. We had a wonderful time. The beach access was right down the road. We walked the beach every morning and evening. We cooked out on the propane grill a few nights. Just a truly enjoyable week.

Perfect Beach Vacation

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this cottage over Memorial Day and immediately booked it through a local broker for July 4th Week. A seasoned renter, this was possibly one of the most relaxed homes I have ever visited. Everything was easy and nothing was fussy or worrisome. We biked to the farmer's market in the morning, walked an easy 2 minuted down our own dirt road to the beach, and grilled on the deck. The owners made sure the house was spotless when we arrived, and you could tell it was lived in and loved. If you are looking for fancy and modern, look elsewhere but if you are looking for a very chill, comfortable, easy holiday--this is the place to be.

Why they chose this property

My husband and I had been renting houses in the Amagansett Dunes for years; I used to come here with my family when I was a girl, and my husband rented here with friends when he first came to New York. This was the first house he had rented back in 1992. My husband, our two children and I moved to London in 2004, but we still continued to summer in Amagansett. When we were looking to purchase a home here, this Scheffer cottage, which my husband had loved, was on the market, and we purchased it. It is a special place for us, with its all wood construction, its location on a dirt road, its natural landscaping and its proximity to the beach.
