Cozy Country Cottage with Juniata River Access and Railroad Views

The fully renovated cottage sits on our 105 acre farm and is filled with country charm. Cottage was built circa 1840 but is equipped with a fully equipped modern kitchen, spacious living area, bath with tub/shower combo and two upstairs bedrooms. Amenities include central heat and a/c, satellite tv and free wifi access. The cottage sits approx 150 yards from the beautiful Juniata river which boasts some of central Pa's best bass fishing. Train lovers will enjoy watching trains as they travel through the upper farm fields as they make their way to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Great location for folks that love the outdoors or to cozy up in the comfort of the cottage. Burnt Timbers Winery is located approx. 75 yards from the cottage.

Cute Clean Cottage

I recently stayed at at this cottage and had a wonderful experience! The hosts were incredibly welcoming and provided all the comforts of home. Perfect getaway

We were coming from about 4 hours away for the Penn State/ Michigan game- our first big D1 game with my husband and myself, and two sons (14 and 10). The cottage was just far enough away from State College to be out of the crowds and hustle of the weekend, but close enough to be a short, easy drive. The cottage itself was the perfect mix of rustic and modern. The boys played football out back in the clearing. When they came in to relax, throw on a blanket on the couch, the satellite tv had all the channels needed. The scenery of the corn fields, winery, peak of mountains, peeking of the nearby trains was beautiful. There were plenty of restaurants, both local and chains, close by in Lewistown (about 10 minutes). I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the cottage to someone I know. In fact, I already have.

Hidden Gem

Great Cottage with great owners! My wife and my 5th day and every stay gets better! Owners stop multiple time and we talked at the winery that is right aside of the Cottage! Can’t go wrong!!

The house was great and the property was lovely! I like the style and everything was meticulously maintained. Chucking and Check-out were easy with only the basic, necessary instructions. Beautiful vineyard location

Beautiful and clean cottage. We did not realize the winery was literally next door, what a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed wine tasting and bought a couple of bottles. Drive was exactly as expected to PSU. I loved the farmland the cottage is on. The surrounding mountains are beautiful. My son loved the zip line. Thank you for a great stay!

Lovely hidden gem

Everything about our stay at the cottage was perfect. Mark was responsive when I had questions and easy to work with. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. It felt like we were staying with friends. The setting is also lovely - so serene and beautiful. There is a train nearby but honestly it’s not an issue. And the winery next door is a wonderful perk! We will be back!!

Quaint Cottage

We had a wonderful time relaxing and staying at this cottage for the weekend. It was just as it was pictured! We relaxed outside watching the chickens roam and deer eat from the corn fields. My husband and granddaughters were able to walk to a fishing spot close by and we enjoyed some wine from the winery right next door. I highly recommend this cottage and am sure we will return!

Amazing place to stay!

The 1840s farmhouse, which is wonderfully redone, was fantastic! It is positioned in the middle of many acres of corn and also right beside the Burnt Timbers winery. We were looking for a peaceful stay, surrounded by nature, and we got that here--with chickens, fields, the river close by, and the hills of Pennsylvania. Our stay marks one of the best VRBO rentals we have had. Thank you to the owners for making this wonderful place available to us for a couple of days!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Absolutely perfect for a quiet getaway. Our second stay here and it was just as lovely as the first. Arrived Friday evening and the kids enjoyed hanging out with the chickens, zip-lining and throwing a football around. As it got dark we all sat by the fire and watched the fields light up with lightning bugs. Saturday we headed out to some local attractions (Shy Bear Brewing and a State College Spikes game) and it was so nice to come back to this perfect spot.

The Burnt Timbers cottage is always a nice stay. Quiet and relaxing, well appointed, out of town but convenient to anything you need. The hosts are great and the chickens will provide hours of entertainment!

Scenic and peaceful getaway

The cottage was absolutely fantastic and exceeded all of our expectations. One of the first things we noticed upon arrival was how clean and tidy everything was. The owners take great care in maintaining the cottage and it truly showed in the immaculate condition it was in. The atmosphere of the cottage was incredibly peaceful and serene. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We spent many hours lounging on the comfortable furniture and enjoying the tranquil surroundings. The interior of the cottage was also very inviting. The decor was tasteful and cozy, and it really made us feel at home. We appreciated all of the thoughtful touches throughout the cottage, such as books to read and board games to play. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at this cottage. It was clean, peaceful, and inviting, making for the perfect getaway. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat.

Lovely stay away from but close enough to campus chaos

We needed a place to stay while visiting a Penn State student on a busy, chaotic campus weekend. The cottage was absolutely perfect. Immaculately well-kept and clean. Super easy to check in and out. Everything you could need in the kitchen and bathroom. And a winery like two buildings over. Plenty of information provided for food delivery and things to do in the area. Worth going just to stay here, drink wine, and watch fancy chickens.

Historic but Modern. Countryside setting not too far from town.

We loved the beautiful setting of this historic house. The updates made for an enjoyable stay. There definitely were more trains than we expected. BUT, we quickly became adjusted to the noise and found them very interesting to watch. The view of the mountains from the house was so nice. Also, the free range chickens that liked to roost in the bushes by the house were entertaining.

The cottage is the renovated residence of the Fisher Family (Sarah's parents) and has been owned by the family since 1918. Mark and Sarah hill purchased the 105 acre farm in 2000 and have been busy restoring the property's buildings.
