About this property

Near Port Lucaya 2 Attached Top Floor Studios w/ 2 Bed Oceanfront Bahama Views!

Welcome to our Beachfront Bahamas Condos!
We love the Bahamas and enjoy our time there. When our apartment is empty, we offer it for rental to people who we hope will enjoy it as much as we do!

Our names are Liz & Don. We are the long time owners of unit #1503 VRBO 35737.

Please read our online reviews for units 1603, 1605 and 1503 (search Liz and Don Coral Beach) to see what our valued guests' experience has been! We take great pleasure and care in providing a clean and comfortable vacation rental to nice people. We enjoy getting to know each of our guests and we have established a friendship with many repeat guests!

1603/1605 is the unit that we have always wanted to own!! When it came up for sale we had to grab it! This property is unique at Coral Beach because it is two units that are rented together. They perfectly complement each other and offer double the space!

We have made several improvements since we bought it. It is the perfect location on the top floor of building one, facing the ocean. It features two large terraces. It also has a smaller balcony with a bistro table that's perfect for coffee or cocktails.

Unique opportunity during COVID
The pandemic created a unique situation where a location that normally would be bustling with tourists felt like an exclusive and private getaway. Grand Bahama/Freeport is taking covid very seriously so we felt the risk was very low during our stay. The beach out front was beautiful as was the weather. It rains but never for very long and only two times during a 10-day stay. We had two amazing authentic eating experiences (the fish fry and fresh conch salad) but other than that we were very happy to cook in the condo and go daily to the beach to relax. The naps were great too ;) Highly recommend. Wish more people could have this experience. Truly magical.

Epic Vacation
These 2 studios were perfect for my family of 4. Accessing the condo was simple and everyone in the building from the security to the other tenants were amazingly kind. We were blown away by the amazing views, the pristine beach, the great onsite restaurant (Sand Pipers) and all the fun times we had in Freeport. The 2 studios have everything and anything that you could possibly need from beach chairs and toys, to dishes, books and towels. The beds are very comfortable and we slept like logs all 4 nights. There is not enough room on this form to tell about all the great experiences we had in Freeport, but I will say the high lights were this: -Beautiful beach right there at the Condo Complex -Great Service and fun at Sandpipers (all the food is great) -half day charter with PK and his first mate Dante (highly recommend we snorkeled, fished, saw turtles and sharks) -Smiths Point Fish Fry and after dinner dancing with the DJ there -Dinner at Pier One and the shark feeding there--Pricey, but good -Fish pizza at Pisces in Port Lucaya, Zorbas in Port Lucaya grilled up the tuna we caught with PK and that was awesome -All the amazing and kind people we encountered in Freeport. Such an amazing place that we are already planning on visiting again soon! Coming back to reality was tough as I am still on 'Island Time'! Thank You for allowing us to stay at your place! Lovely
This was our first visit to the Grand Bahamas. The below made the trip wonderful: Excellent communication with the owner, Don. Don's detailed information regarding arrival, food shopping, restaurants, etc invaluable. Our unit was very clean and stocked with necessary items. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Safety was never a concern. The pool area, private beach area, and pool deck restaurant was wonderful with pricing normal for the island. Walking on the beach was better than Turks and Caicos. Port Lacaya restaurants were awesome, however, it appears the island is hurting and some are closing. We rented a car to experience all the great places and restaurants on the island. We hope to return next winter and stay longer than 7 days.

Heaven on Earth
We loved staying on Coral Beach! This was our second time and it is the perfect spot! The beach is gorgeous, the pool is refreshing, the snack shack is fun for drinks and lunch! If you rent a car, you can get all over the island and Coral Beach is centrally located. So close to the airport and Port Lucaya where you can do all the water excursions, shop and pick from many restaurants and bars. Since you have your own kitchen, you can save some money and hit the grocery store for breakfast foods and snacks. We would love to come again!!

Best birthday getaway for Mom in 9 years of birthday trips!
My sisters and I have been taking our world traveler (now 95 year old) Mom to someplace south/warm for 9 years and she praised this island and Don & Liz's condo as her most favorite. We had both units which was perfect for 4 of us: lent easily to being together as well as having private space; Tv watchers could enjoy while non Tv watchers did not have to be in same space; it worked for early risers and late sleepers. Most of our time was spent outside on the condo decks, the magnificent beach, the local market, and touring the island. My personal favorite spot was the condo deck and balcony from which we experienced island breezes, beautiful view and BOTH sunrise and sunset with one step out the glass doors! This island is filled with the most generous and gracious people. We were fortunate Don's sister Karen was vacationing while we were there because she became our instant friend and island expert. Condo staff went out of their way plus Don and Liz were responsive to every question. One more huge benefit was the phone provided for unlimited calls to anywhere in the states. We toyed with buying a condo so that we could return regularly but this unit is the one we would want!

I felt the property to be in need of upgrades.
First impression, stained and very old and out of shape bedspread. Even the pillowcases have stains which is disgusting...Futon cover was nasty looking. When I pay to stay somewhere it should be pretty and inviting. I will not stay at this property again. Very dissatisfied. Also wasn't aware of how much we would have to pay taxi drivers every time we went somewhere.

Great location, well equipped, and extremely attentive owner.
This was our first time vacationing in the Bahamas. We were celebrating my sister’s birthday and looking for a place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. We certainly accomplished our goal at this condo! We rented both 1305 and 1303., there were 3 of us traveling together. The view was spectacular. We enjoyed easy access to the beach and convenience of the pool and pool side restaurant and bar. The island is definitely still recovering from Hurricane Matthew (2016) however that worked to our advantage. There were just enough people and we did not feel overcrowded at restaurants in Port Lucayan marketplace shops and restaurants. We walked to Port Lucaya marketplace several times and used taxi service other times. We found the local people friendly, reliable, and helpful. Don, the owner, was so accommodating and so helpful with questions as we prepared for our trip and while we were there. I highly recommend this condo if you are looking for a great escape and want to enjoy the beautiful beach and island.

We had a blast!
The condo was beautiful and well stocked with everything we needed. The employees of Coral Beach hotel were so awesome! The elevator was broken and the condo is 70 steps up to the sixth floor. The security guard and a construction worker jumped right in and helped us carry our baggage and groceries up all those stairs! We highly recommend the 7 hr. jeep safari tour. Our tour guide and the adventure were well worth it! The beach off the condo is crystal clear and gorgeous! Thank you Don & Liz for helping us to have such a wonderful vacation! Don even called us a couple of times while we were there to make sure all was going well! Awesome vacation!

Vacation on Week of July 4 2017
We stayed at Liz & Don's place the week of July 4. What a nice place. Sure the hurricane has devastated the island and took out the elevator, but this was the most relaxing, low stress vacation we were looking for. Don's restaurant recommendations were great (Zorbas, Pisces). We spent our days fishing(Native Son experience)and diving (Sunn Odyssey) and snorkeling. Our taxi driver (Michele:242-442-6068) was our personal tour guide. She would wait while we shopped for groceries, while we ate at the restaurants and hauled us to our dive boat. No extra charge! Don & Liz's condo was very nice with the best views from the balconies. It was comfortable for all five of us and was nicely furnished. The island is certainly hurting, but we were not without anything we needed or wanted to do. Actually, we felt satisfaction to be able to help the local economy. I highly recommend Grand Bahamas and if you go, try to stay at Don & Liz's place.

Great New Years Vacation
We stayed at Don and Liz's from 12-31-2016 through 1-5-2017 and both rooms were great and met all our needs. We have a 20 year old boy, an 18 year old boy, and an 8 year old girl, so we definitely enjoyed the space of both rooms and used all the sleeping arrangements available. The accommodations were comfortable for all and the views were fantastic. With the 2 older boys, I don't think they could've survived without the wireless internet which worked great. The island is still recovering from the Hurricane, but that worked out for us because the restaurants in the Marketplace were never too crowded so we didn't need reservations. All the staff at the Coral Beach are very friendly. The beach is great and water was perfect for swimming. Nothing like swimming in the ocean on New Years day when you live in Michigan. The food and drinks at the bar/restaurant were very good and probably better than you can get at the Marketplace. The location is very good and we walked down the beach to the Marketplace just about every day. After walking up and down the beach, you could tell which property was Coral Beach because that's where the people were. Some of our recommendations are to use Queenie for cab rides (she took us a number of places and by the end of the trip, seemed like family). We swam with the Dolphins through Unexso and would definitely recommend that. We've done that other places, but this one gave you the most individual time with the dolphins. It was a too windy on the days we were there to snorkel except for the day we had to leave, so I would recommend that if you think about going to Paradise Cove, wait until the day you want to go to see if it's calm enough. I think the snorkeling at the Condo would have been great had we had a calm day to try. Restaurant recommendations in the Marketplace are Cappuccino's , La Parrilla, and Sabor. All were excellent. I would definitely recommend staying at Don and Liz's at the Coral Beach. Our family had a great and memorable vacation.

A Memorable Family Vacation at Coral Beach
We recently returned from a 1 week stay at Liz and Don's adjoining 6th floor suites at Coral Beach (Dec 23rd - 29th) and can truly say we absolutely loved it (and yes, the units were exactly as described and pictured). From the fully furnished/decorated suites and their accompanying views, to the laid back and gracious people (locals, residents, and fellow travellers alike), Coral Beach met our whole families needs (a pretty impressive feat for 2 adults and 2 teenagers). While the grounds and buildings still reflected some scars from the only 2 months earlier hurricane, we were so very fortunate that the pool and its adjoining restaurant had just returned to full operation the day we arrived (we drank and ate there copiously every day of our stay:). The white sandy beach and emerald ocean just steps away from the pool and bar were awesome, although the water was a bit sandy/murky for snorkelling - bad on us for not trying the recommended snorkelling spot just a 10 minute walk down the beach. While we spent most of our time hanging by the pool/bar/beach, there were 2 things we did do that we can't say enough about (both big hits with our 15 and 17 year old teenagers); we booked a 4 hour catamaran excursion with Bootleggers Tours (call Tony at 242-646-1051; visit their facebook page to read our review) and attended the Wednesday night fish fry about a 10-15 minute cab ride from Coral Beach (we ate at Outriggers and stayed for the dancing and music videos on the big screen). We also want to give a shout out to the cast of characters who made our stay so memorable; condo residents Congo Man and Irvine Palacious (island historian, boxing enthusiast, and taxi driver), Congo Man's sister Gerri (also a taxi driver), security staff Marilyn, Katie, and Marco, bartender Nate and bar assistant Shirelle, handy-man and aspiring singer/music maker Logan, and the restaurant's dedicated chef and her magic elves. Not surprisingly, all the other holidayer's we met at Coral Beach - which included numerous condo owners and repeat visitors - were friendly and happy to be there. This was truly a 5 star, 4 thumbs up vacation for this British Columbia, Canada family!

Charming Stay at Oceanfront Studio
We got just what we expected and just what we were looking for with our stay in Liz & Don's place at Coral Beach. We had a direct ocean view from the front room, a comfortable king size bed, and a fully equipped kitchen, which we prepared most of our meals in. It was very quiet, and not crowded. We were the only people on the beach at times, which was great. The water is crystal-clear and the beach is super clean. The pool was nice to have too, overlooking the ocean. There is a little on-site restaurant-bar that supplemented our own cooking. The food there is quite good - much better than the touristy options up the beach in Port Lucaya and in the Market. We highly recommend the fish-burgers (fish sandwiches) and any of the curry dishes - delicious. Logistics-wise, Liz & Don were in immediate communication the couple of times we reached out with questions. We took a cab from the airport to the condo (did not rent a car) - ~20 minute ride/$20, and stopped at the Sands Brewery, just down the road from the Airport. We highly recommend stopping here on the way in - it is the cheapest option to pick up beverages before you get to the condo. Beyond that, there is a Solomon's (akin to an American grocery store) that you could run/walk/take a cab to (2 miles), for all grocery items you may want. We highly recommend staying here, and would stay here again!

Retreat to Paradise
We just returned home from our amazing vacation. Our trip was even better than I had imagined. Liz & Don were a pleasure to work with and guided us through our first vrbo experience with ease. The condo was absolutely wonderful. It was just as pictured and described. The view from the terrace alone made the whole trip worthwhile. Wow. The condo was decorated serenely and was a peaceful retreat for our family. We spent most of our time on the beach and in the ocean. I was glad to see the sand toys and beach chairs. We took the cooler down to the palm huts for lunches. Most meals we either cooked in the condo or ate down at the condo bar. We enjoyed drinks every night and loved chatting with the other guests. Shuffle board was a fun surprise. We called Queenie for taxi services. She was a delight and drove us all over the island. Shopping at Solomon's was a neat experience, be aware that the prices are 2-3x of the States. We were SO grateful to have the pack n' play. The reef was stunning to look at. We followed directions when we went snorkeling and found the brain coral! We walked along the shore to Port Lucaya Marketplace a few times. It was fun to shop around. The kids (and adults) really enjoyed feeding the Sharks and eating at Pier One - and I made sure to bring cash, as they've been known to be scandalous with credit cards. Jet skiing with our five and seven year olds was a blast! I look forward to returning next year, if not sooner!!

Highly recommended
We have had the unique experience of staying at Don & Liz's, and then due to a previous booking, we had to move down the beach to one of the big hotels. Within minutes of arriving at the hotel, I was wishing I was back at Coral Beach!! It had all the things the big hotel had (pool, private beach with umbrellas, shuffle board & lawn bowling, poolside bar with food) but Coral Beach was quiet and felt like you were staying with friends. We also had fully stocked kitchens to make our own dinners if we wanted to stay in. The rooms were very clean and the kitchens had everything we needed. There were even beach chairs and towels to take down to the beach so we didn't need to pack our own. Don was always a phone call away if we had any questions and they provided us with all the information we needed to fully enjoy our stay on the island. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and it was nice and quiet at night for a great night's rest. We could easily get to the grocery store and restaurants, as well as the sites with usually just a short drive. I would stay here again over any hotel stay. Thank you again Don & Liz!!

Escape From The Cold
This was the ideal place to escape a horrible winter that did not want to end. The location is excellent, the unit above average and the owners' exceptionally easy to deal with. We are not "beach people" but certainly enjoyed Coral Beach and, if at all possible, will return for more fun and relaxation in the sun. Oh! Although we like to explore and find things on our own, it was great to have all of the suggestions that Liz and Don provided.

Excellent Experience and Highly Recommended!!
We were so pleased when we arrived. The two units were spotlessly clean and as depicted on this website. We had a wonderful time with everything stocked that you would need to cook and live at this small resort!! We left calling cards for the next guests because the cell phones did not work...the number was expired because the previous guests did not use the phone number. It is easy to use the calling cards and we left instructions too. The blinds do not rotate shut on one unit so I just wore my sleeping mask because it was so sunny! No big deal. The snorkeling was great and we went to the recommended spot by the owners two days in a row! We are older and fit right in with the retired crowd but also saw all ages there including children. It is a great place to get away and the small restaurant/bar there is very inexpensive! These owners are first rate! Oh, we recommend calling Queenie's Taxi Service because she is the greatest! Oh, just an FYI...You will need to call a taxi to go grocery shopping and they will call a taxi after you are done. Easy!

My family of 4 rented these two units together over Christmas - my daughters had 1603 and we had 1605 (the parents got the better view of course!). The condos are as depicted in the photos - very homey, very clean. There is a closet with beach towels, extra linen. A washer and dryer just down the hall (uses tokens purchased at front desk). The rental process was smooth and hassle-free. Liz and Don give detailed information on the condo and on things to see and do on the island. They had recommended Brad's car rental, however we didn't book ahead and there were no cars available, also no cars with Avis - we got one through Island Jeep and Car Rental - it was pretty expensive, I would reserve ahead of time if we were to go again. We also took the "bus" (vans) a few times - $1.25 per trip, they'll pull over and pick you up even if they're going the opposite direction! We enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner on the beach at the Coral Beach Bar and Grill. Great pina coladas too. My husband and daughter dove with UNEXSO - they walked there on the days we didn't have a car, probably a 20 minute walk. They were happy with their dives except there was a lot of wind, one dive cancelled as so choppy. We would absolutely recommend this condo - having the two together was really nice as my daughters had their own space, yet we were still all together.

Had A Good Time.
The Condo was comfortable, the staff was great, the beach was nice. The one thing I would highly recommend was the Coral Beach Bar & Grill at the pool area! The food was great (best buffalo wings I've ever had) and the prices were good compared to others in the area, and the staff is great.

Condo 1605 - Wonderful!
We stayed at Liz and Don’s condo unit 1605 from Mar 18th – 25th. I had never rented a condo before and from my very first inquiry e-mail to the final confirmation e-mail, all went very smoothly and I felt very reassured with the rental process. The condo was very clean and had all the amenities you would pretty much have in your own home! We spent quite a bit of time on the terrace in the mornings and in the evenings. We would leave the balcony doors open at night for the cool breeze and the sound of the ocean waves. The condo was very quiet and safe. The other renters/owners as well as the condo staff were all very friendly. We walked down to the Market place/Marina quite a few times by either the beach or the road. When we were going a distance, we would call “Queenie” the taxi driver. She was a super, friendly local lady and would highly recommend her! She took us to the local fish fry at Outriggers on Wednesday night – the food was superb there! We spent quite a bit of time in the beach bar at the condo as well. The food was excellent and Jim and his staff there are wonderful/friendly people. We found there was always someone interesting to visit with when we stopped in. We had a very nice one week vacation at this condo and I would not hesitate whatsoever to rent from Liz and Don again! We hope one day to return!!

Picture perfect place
We recently stayed in this condo with my mother (who uses a wheelchair) in the joining condo. They were exactly as shown in the pictures. Very clean, bright, and beautiful. Everything is there for your use. The view was unbelievable. We were married on the beach at the condo and had our reception at the beach bar within the property, and it was just a perfect, romantic experience. Our friends also came for the wedding and stayed in condo's, they were very nice, but our condo took it up a notch. We felt very spoiled and special during our entire stay. Our group of 12 met every morning on our balcony shown above, for our morning coffee and to plan our day. I would recommend these condo's to anyone who really want a VERY above average stay. The condo owners were wonderful, made the rental details very smooth and seamless. We can't wait to go back!

The best place to stay in Freeport
Our family recently stayed at this property. We would highly recommend staying there when you go to Freeport. The owners were excellent to work with. The accomodations were impeccible. Wonderful Stay at Coral Beach Unit 1605
I highly recommend staying at the Coral Beach in Unit 1605. It is extremely clean and has everything you need and more, to enjoy your stay. The kitchenette is complete with microwave, coffee maker, fridge and stove. There are plenty of dishes, utensils, and cleaning products. The rest of the unit is adorable. It is spacious and charmingly decorated with an island flare. There is a flat screen tv, with dvd player, including dvds for those rainy days. There are 2 balconies, both with amazing views and furniture to sit outside. It was great in the morning, when having tea and coffee. Again, the whole unit is newly renovated and kept very clean. The bathroom is very clean and there are tons of towels and facecloths to use. Big fluffly beach towels are also supplied. The owners even provide a cell phone to use, while on the Island, and have a phone in the unit that provides you with free long distance throughout Canada and the U.S. The grounds of the Coral Beach are impeccably upkept and there is a nice beach bar with the best Bahama Mamas on the Island. The food is also very good. The pool is very well maintained and the beach is extremely clean and the water beautiful. I highly recommend staying in this unit. I have been going to Freeport/Lucaya for years and have stayed in many condos. This is by far the nicest, and the owners really go out of their way in terms of hospitality and making sure you have all the comforts of home.

10/10 Excellent

Coral Beach 1605
Liz & Don's condo was wonderful. It was very nicely decorated, everything and more than was represented. The resort area was beautiful, everything we had hoped to find. Liz and Don were extremely helpful with all our questions; they were wonderful hosts. The activities nearby were plentiful; there are many smal, local shops and restaurants. I would recommend Liz and Don's place to everyone.

We are Liz & Don. Don has been coming to Coral Beach since his parents bought there in the 1970's! Liz & Don bought #1503 in 2006 and love the Coral Beach and Grand Bahama Island community.

Why they chose this property

When this property came up for sale, we had to buy it because it is a rare gem. There are very few like this at Coral Beach. It is on the 6th floor of building one. The two adjoining units are abutted by large terraces on each end. which is a rarity. Plus, it is the top floor of our building. The view is gorgeous from all directions!

What makes this property unique

The previous owners had the intention of making this one unit but didn't complete the renovation. Our condo is configured as separate studios that rent as one unit, separated by a 'hotel' type door. The ocean facing unit is #1605. It offers a king bed and a overstuffed futon. #1603 has an ocean view and a large western facing deck. It offers a few feet of extra space; it has a queen bed and sleeper sofa and a chaise sleep chair.
