About this property
Rustic Ranch Retreat - 6 bedrooms, 5 bath, game room, working cattle ranch!
Relax with the gang at this peaceful working ranch on 509 acres. Your home away from home while you visit. This amazing property can hosts multiple families, corporate retreats, or small groups. There is much to do on-site during your stay, including hiking to the bluffs ands beautiful waterfall, fishing in the two creeks, kayaking, swimming, horseback riding, if guests would like to bring their own horses, visit the Civil War grave site, 150 year old cemetery, roast s’mores around the fire, play pool, ping pong, and shuffleboard, or just get some R&R.
This property offers an amazing opportunity to get away from it all and make memories with your favorite people! This is a working cattle ranch that our family uses often for gatherings and events. We love sharing it with others and know you will love it too. We will meet you on site when you arrive to show you around the property and go over the basics. We may or may not be around during your stay, but if we are there we will stay next door in a separate house and will not interfere with your group at all.
Please note the upstairs bedroom/bunk room set up. Each bunk room adjoins to the bathroom that is attached to one of the bedrooms (Jack-and-Jill style). Each bedroom is accessed through an exterior entrance, similar to a motel. There is a very small fold-down staircase inside that leads up to the bedrooms, but it is not suited for adults or luggage to be brought up through.
We have a side-by-side ATV that seats 6 available for rent ($100/day) and places to board horse ($25 per horse) if you'd like to bring them. Please reach out and let us know your plans.
Pets may be considered on a case-by-case basis. There will be an additional $100 fee for each dog. We do not allow dogs to roam all over the house or on the furniture. Dogs are ONLY allowed in the large game/bonus room and must be on a cable or kenneled at night. Please let us know about your pets at the time of booking and we will approve and request payment at that time. Failure to follow these rules will result in an additional $300 fee.

We are a retired couple who enjoy sharing our beautiful place with others.
Why they chose this property
This ranch has been in our family for 75 years.
Access to ranch:
Put Hargis Rd in your gps. That will bring you to a row of mailboxes. Turn right onto Hargis Rd. Go to the bottom of the mountain… about 3 miles down. 2 miles down, you will come to a switchback…. Just be aware. At the bottom of the mountain, There is usually a closed gate if you were to go straight…. Some one else’s property. Turn right which will take you across a low water bridge straight onto our property. Follow the road through the pines on up to the house. This bridge is typically accessible year around. If we have had a lot of rain, it may be high, but goes down quickly. We would alert you if there were to be a problem. We haven’t had an issue with any rental in 3 years!

What makes this property unique
This property is a working cattle ranch that our family uses for family gatherings and events. As I said, we love sharing it with others and know you will love it too. We will meet you on the property to show you around and go over the basics. We may or not be around some during your stay. There may be circumstances that warrant having to check on the cattle or feed , especially during the winter. We will not be in your way or interfere with your group. If that happens, will be in and out!
Please note the upstairs bedroom/bunk room set up. Each bunk room adjoins a bathroom that is attached to a master bedroom…. hack-n-jill style. Each bedroom is accessed through an exterior door. There is a small fold down staircase that leads to the upstairs bedrooms. It is not built for adults or luggage to be brought up. It is handy for anyone if it is raining!!
You are welcome to bring any off-road vehicles as they are a fun thing to have. We can also arrange for you to rent some. If interested, just check with me on prices. You will need a pick up to cross the creek. Also, there have been a few times that we are unable to cross the creek after torrential rain. The creek does go down pretty quickly once the rain stops. Of course, we have no control over the weather, but the creek runs through the middle of the property, so there is things to do on both sides. Also, in hot, dry summers, the water will not be in abundance in some places seen in the pics. You will not be able to kayak.
We have had some bad experiences allowing pets. We will consider a request for pets at $150 for each pet. We do not allow them to have the run of the house…. absolutely nowhere upstairs! May have them in the big game room only but not on furniture. We ask they be kenneled at night. Outside is wide open !!
