Wireless, high-speed internet access is available throughout the home. Enjoy a hot cup of tea and a good book on the quiet, enclosed back porch. Prefer to socialize? Relax with a nice glass of wine on the sun-soaked front porch and chat with the neighbors as they stroll by. This enchanting, historic cottage offers the opportunity to enjoy Traverse City as the locals do.

The Old Town Neighborhood is located just south of Downtown Traverse City. You will be a short ten minute walk away from the heart of town and only a 15 minute walk from the beaches of Grand Traverse Bay. Within the neighborhood is the Oryana Natural Foods Market. This community co-op has been around since 1973 and offers most, if not all of your grocery needs. Pick up some local wine, beer and cheese or take a morning stroll down to the adjoining cafe for a cup of coffee. Wander down to the south end of Cass Street and you come accross the Traverse City Whiskey Co., makers of velvety smooth bourbon whiskey. Have a seat at the bar in their tasting room and enjoy a fine cocktail. A little further south brings you to the famous Right Brain Brewery where you'll find a large selection of locally brewed, innovative and sometimes curious beers. No trip to T.C. is complete without a trip to Right Brain. Bordering the the east side of the neighborhood is Boardman Lake and River, a perfect place for a walk, run or bike ride on one of the many TART (Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation) trails. TART trails extend over 60 miles within T.C. and beyond.

As you explore the rest of Traverse City, you'll be amazed by the many options you have for dining and entertainment. As mentioned, it is only a quick 10 minute walk to the many shops and restaurants of downtown. On the west side of town, check out the historic architecture of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons along with it's many galleries and eateries. Love craft beer? T.C. has been recognized by Draft Magazine as one of America's new emerging beer towns. The T.C. area has over a dozen local breweries, most with walking distance to the cottage.

Just north of town are the scenic wine regions (AVAs) of Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau Peninsula. These peninsulas are sheltered from the northern winters by the waters of Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay. Dozens of wineries produce gorgeous still and sparkling wines and can be toured by car, shuttle or bike.

The Traverse City area offers a plethora of outdoor activities by land water or air. Hiking, mountain biking, sailing, fishing, kayaking, skydiving and more are at your doorstep. Enjoy one of the many beautiful and challenging Golf Courses in the area, including the highly praised courses of Boyne Highlands and the Jack Nicklaus designed Grand Traverse Resort. The outdoor fun doesn't end in the Winter. Traverse City is a popular destination for snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country and downhill skiing. The ski areas of Boyne and Crystal Mountain are accessible day trips from the cottage.

Of course, the jewel of Western Michigan is Sleeping Bear Dunes. The Dunes have been called one of the most beautiful places in America. Climb the dunes to endless views of Lake Michigan. Scuba dive at one of the many shipwreck sites. Ferry over to the Manitou Islands for a day of exploration. The Dunes offer endless hours of activity and nature.

The list goes on and on. From the many art galleries and cultural activities to the Carrribean-blue inland lakes and historic towns. You will never run out of things to do in the Traverse City area. Of course, a relaxing day around the cottage is always an option as well.

Wonderful Stay
The title of this rental, Old Town Cottage, is an accurate description of this small but homey house in central Traverse City. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is warm and comfortable with plenty of space for the two of us. It could easily accommodate up to four. The knotty pine kitchen has every tool and appliance you might need to cook at home, which we did frequently. The updated bathroom has a good size tub for soaking. The hosts were easy to reach and responsive to our questions. The best thing of all about this cottage is the location very close to the bike path and all downtown shops and restaurants. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

5 Week Stay
We had a pleasant stay at this home. And we would stay again. At first when I walked in it felt a little narrow, small, but it ended up being Perfect! I needed a place for 5 weeks, I was coming to see family as well as work full time; remote. It was a perfect place for my family. And the WiFi connection was great! The home is charming and clean. It is an older home so you have to be ok with that vibe. I used the dining room table for my work space, and we used the kitchen table for eating, visiting and playing cards. The kitchen feels like a cabin :) Which we like. We also used the table outside on the patio. The description of the home was accurate. And Chris was an excellent host and very responsive. He addressed my questions prior to arriving as well as during our stay. We used the TV room a lot, that is where we gathered to hang out as well as watch movies. We used the kitchen table and outdoor patio to visit and play cards. Kids used the sun room often. We also used the gas grill, which has been used well but it’s still doing it’s job :) The house is in a great neighborhood, only a block from a great co-op and coffee/cafe. Nice to walk and get a coffee and a scone; which were amazing!! We used the bikes around the neighborhood as well as riding around Boardman Lake which was 4 miles.. Very nice! There are a few places you can bike to or walk, one of them being Traverse City Whiskey Company. We enjoyed this charming tasting distillery and bar. Nice to have a few drinks and be able to walk home :) We also walked 4 blocks to the Catholic Church for mass; it was lovely! Very convenient to take day trips from this location as well; up Old Mission Peninsula for wine tasting, fabulous views, visited the Lighthouse. as well as Leelanau Peninsula which is much larger, wine tasting, distillery, beaches, shopping, M22, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is a must! We were comfortable at this home and we would stay again! Thank you Chris for making everything so convenient and easy.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Bed very comfy, furniture comfy, everything you need to cook is in the kitchen. I enjoy walking so this was a perfect location as I could walk into town. Nice grocery store around the corner. Many pubs within walking distance also. Felt very safe.

Cute Cottage - Perfect for Fall Quarantine
This home was cozy and cute, and exactly what my friends and I needed for a fall getaway during the pandemic. The kitchen is FULLY supplied and the cottage is located very close to a delightful coop supermarket- which made cooking easy and fun. The main TC sites are a short walk away, there is a beautiful trail perfect for biking (with the bikes that come with the house), and nice hikes are a quick drive away. Though small, the cottage has enough space for 4 guests - even when the 4 of us were working from home. Highly recommend this home. Thanks for a great stay!!

Exceptionally well provisioned
This cute cottage has all the “up north” trappings you expect - beach scene art, vintage Revere Ware and knotty pine, plus all the amenities you crave - good WiFi, big screen TV and a very modern bathroom. The kitchen is packed with everything you can think of, plus bikes, beach umbrella, you name it! It’s all here. Great rental and very quick communication with the owner.

Classic TC Cottage
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is fantastic. The neighborhood was peaceful and beautiful. Sleep came quickly! The backyard was lovely with lots of lovely flowers. There were bikes if one was so inclined. Just a short walk, a few minutes away, is a wonderful grocery store with everything (and more) that one needs. Also has a cafe-type set up. Delicious! We loved our stay in Traverse City! Oh we also got there in time for the Traverse City annual Film Festival! Awesome!

Peaceful Neighborhood Cottage
We stayed at this peaceful Traverse City cottage for the month of May. The location of the home on a wonderful tree lined street is perfect. It is within easy walking distance to several restaurants and a 15 minute walk to Front St. Really could not have asked for a better location. Oryana is the star of this neighborhood. It is maybe a 30 second walk from the backyard to Oryana's front door. We went there almost every day, sometimes twice a day. Such a relief to not even have to get into the car to go get groceries or a great meal. Their hot food bar is wonderful, as well as their sandwiches and coffee creations (loved the Lavender Latte...) Oryana is a wonderful neighborhood hub, making this house a total gem. The house is charming and peaceful and comfortable. We particularly loved the bedroom at the front of the house with the big window. The beds are comfortable with the softest sheets I think we've ever slept on. The house is very old with lots of character, however, inner working of the home are top of the line. Tons of hot water, excellent furnace/A/C, great gas stove, etc., etc. Finally, the fact that the owners of this home are always immediately available to answer any questions and address any issues that arise during your stay is a huge factor in our recommendation of this home. The owners, Chris and Lora, care deeply about this home as well as your comfort and satisfaction with your stay while a guest in their home. Chris is very easy to communicate with, and extremely yes-oriented to any requests you may have while at the house. We recommend this home without reservation for a peaceful Traverse City neighborhood experience. Without question one of our best TC vacations ever. Thank you Chris and Lora!

Wonderful month at Old Town Cottage
My husband and I stayed at the Old Town Cottage during the month of August and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very roomy and comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything you need to prepare meals which we sometimes enjoyed eating at the outside patio table. The bathroom was remodeled and very nice. It was also great having a garage to park our car. We enjoyed some of the books the owners had in the cottage also. We loved the location and walked to downtown Traverse City many times and enjoyed shopping and restaurants. The owners were very easy to work with and replied quickly to any questions and requests we raised. We met several of the neighbors and they were great people. We hope to return to the Old Town Cottage for another visit sometime in the future. Great spot.
