About the host
Hosted by Jeff Hutton

My wife and I are from Ohio and I have been coming to the Charleston area with my family since my senior year of high school - a long, long time ago! I attended the College of Charleston for 1 year and crazily decided to move back to Ohio. I've been trying to get back ever since. My wife and I have been together almost 20 years and she has fallen in love with the area too from our many trips with our kids. Our youngest moved to Charleston about 3 years agon and it was the push we needed to find a place we could stay at and spend more time visiting him and doing all the things we love like walking on the beach, kayaking or exploring the streets of Charleston Being a host allows us to do that and we love it! We've done everything we could to set up the house so it would be comfortable, relaxing and memorable for our guests and it's our hope they fall in love with the area too!
Why they chose this property
When looking for a home in Charleston we quickly zeroed in on the James Island area. My wife and I both love walking on the beach or just sitting watching the waves roll in and smelling the salt air. While there are a number of beaches to choose from, we love Folly beach the best. With it's laid back vibe, the best waves in the area for surfing or boogie boarding and several excellent restaurants it's easy to leave all your troubles behind and just relax once you're on the island. We're also drawn to the historic beauty of downtown Charleston and all it has to offer. By buying a house on James Island we are literally minutes from both! We love that the neighborhood is quiet and tucked off of the main road. When we're in town we love to take walks and explore the area and homes all around us. People are friendly and will wave to say hello.
What makes this property unique
The most unique thing about this property has to be the private backyard, shaded by huge live oak trees. You sit in the Adirondack chairs and look up and see the massive limbs stretching to the sky while taking in the southern breeze, it's just so relaxing, almost heavenly! The other most unique feature has to be the 3 hole putting green. It's set up for simple to harder putting challenges with a thick frog hair to catch wayward puts. There's putter and balls available if you didn't bring your own.
