About this property

History Meets Luxury - Dreamy Sweeney Cottage

Found in the heart of Leiper’s Fork Village, Sweeney Cottage is a beautifully restored 1892 home that invites you to experience the charm of Tennessee’s most vibrant creative community. With its unique history and stylish updates, this cottage is the perfect base for artists, musicians, couples, and friends looking to immerse themselves in the village’s artistic energy. Enjoy local shops, live music, and nearby dining, or simply relax and take in the village vibe from the porch or fire pit.

Built in 1892 for the Carl Sweeney family, Sweeney Cottage is filled with the echoes of those who have lived, loved, and left their mark here over the years. The home was thoughtfully renovated with a focus on preserving its legacy, while incorporating modern conveniences. This charming 2-bed, 1-bath gem, with its rich history and timeless character, is perfect for up to four guests. The primary bedroom features a queen bed, while a second queen bed is tucked away in a lofted space at the top of the stairs, separated from the primary bedroom by a beautifully preserved original door.

The chic kitchen, equipped with a mint-green Smeg refrigerator and a Bertazzoni Italian stove, is perfect for preparing home-cooked meals. The antique farm table in the dining room seats up to eight and is surrounded by vintage décor that tells a story of its own. The bathroom boasts a deep soaking tub and a handheld shower, as well as a stunning brass console sink. The original 1892 entry doors are painted a calming pink in contrast to the original black screen doors.

Relax in the sunlit sitting areas, strum on two Gibson guitars while studying the historic photo wall in the music room, or take in the view from the porch, where you can people-watch and enjoy the charming village atmosphere. The backyard fire pit is ideal for stargazing or gathering around for s’mores after a day of exploring. Whether you’re here for inspiration, relaxation, or connection, Sweeney Cottage offers a welcoming space for it all.

What You’ll Love:
- Walk to Everything: Located in the vibrant center of Leiper’s Fork, Sweeney Cottage is just steps away from the village’s boutique shops, live music venues, and farm-to-table dining.
- Historic Charm, Modern Comfort: A lovingly restored 1892 home with antique décor, modern amenities, and an inviting atmosphere.
- Creative Space: Two Gibson guitars await your musical touch, and the peaceful vibe makes it the perfect spot for artists and songwriters.
- Outdoor Relaxation: Unwind in the private backyard around the fire pit, or relax on the front porch swing and rocking chairs, watching the village life go by and watching passersby.

What Guests Are Saying:
- "The ideal getaway—so much character, comfort, and the best location for exploring the village.”
- "Floor to ceiling, the cottage’s ethereal and romantic interior welcomes visitors from all over with warm hospitality. Though the small town outside the doors is the main attraction, guests might find themselves spending a little more time indoors than they had planned."

A big experience in a little town!

Leiper's Fork is a charming small town with lots of personality and things to do. I wish we had the opportunity to stay longer but we were just passing through overnight. The house was very clean, everything was in order, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Very unique!

Loved the historical house and cute area! Close to Franklin, Columbia, and Nashville for day trips! Be aware it is on a major road so there is traffic noise during the day….very quiet at night though!

Perfect stay in this charming cottage!

This charming cottage in Leipers Fork was the perfect getaway! We live in Nashville but wanted a "staycation" ...away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Sweeney Cottage did not disappoint. The house was beautifully decorated and offered everything we needed. Everything about the house was great-old meets new-and very cozy. We had an amazing dinner at restaurant 1892 which was right next door. It was the perfect night away and we can't wait to stay again soon!

Sweeney cottage

This cottage was so charming! We simply don't have words to describe this beautiful area in the country with its friendly people and cool laid back vibe! Everyone walking by the beautiful porch, complete with a swing, stopped to chat! The inside of the home was beautifully done marrying history with a touch of modern. The bedrooms all completed in charming beadboard were so inviting and so comfortable. The bathroom (only one in the house) was completely remodeled and so charming. The house was made more perfect by a fire pit out back perfect for conversation and laughter after an evening at the Fox and Locke. Totally cannot wait to return to this magical place!

Historic feel, modern amenities, and prime location

The pictures don’t do this place justice. It is beautifully decorated, and it’s larger than it looks. There’s a big sectional couch and chairs with a remote controlled fireplace in the living room; plenty of seating and natural light. The dining room has a long table with plenty of seating, also a nice dimmable chandelier. The kitchen has a large sink and is filled with all the necessary wares, and a sitting area just outside it. There’s a closet with board and card games. The beds and bedding are new and comfortable. Plenty of fresh towels and luxury toiletries. The deck has a nice porch swing that faces the street and there’s also a firepit area outback. The location is literally steps away from everything in Leipers Fork. Puckett’s, The Country Boy, shopping, etc. 5 stars, it was perfect. We will stay again.

Great Place to Retreat

Pros: We loved our stay in this home! The house itself is amazing, full of history, and the decor makes you feel right at home. Leipers Fork is a great town, and just a quick 12 minute drive to Franklin. So if you are looking to stay in a quiet town where you can be away from all the busyness but still be close enough to go get good food, drinks, or shop, this would be the place for you. There is also great food in Leipers Fork (1892 next door is a MUST). We also did a fun wine tasting right across the street too. Cons: If you are looking for complete privacy, this home may not be for you. The house is on the main street, and because Leipers Fork is a town that attracts a lot of tourists, there were times we would be sitting on the porch or in the living room and people would be in the front yard taking pictures. If you bring dogs, just know that any time you are outside with them (day or night), there is a chance there will be people walking the street too, which was hard for us with dogs. There is also a restaurant right next door, so there is just a lot of exposure to people from the area where the house is on the street. Not a lot of privacy. The other con for us was that there is just one bathroom and it is downstairs. So, if you are in the bedroom upstairs and needed to. go in the middle of the night, it was a bit of a hassle to go downstairs. But, outside of those two things, we would absolutely go back and enjoyed our week long stay so much! The town and the people are so friendly!

Just perfect

We were in Leipers Fork for 6 nights and loved every minute in our sweet cottage. Everything was comfortable, clean plus the AC kept up with excessive heat we had. I loved drinking my coffee every morning while on the swing on the porch.
