About this property
Lakefront cottage with magnificent views in Bellingham!
Relax with the whole family at this peaceful lakefront retreat with 90 feet of waterfront. The home is located 2 minutes from the boat launch and now has a new dock - as of 12/2024 (shallow water-no jumping off the dock). This is a rustic cabin-with many 80’s charm still (under mount cabinet coffee maker), classic appliances, blue sink/tub (bathroom), etc.
Bellingham has 700+ biking trails, whale watching and schooner tours to name a few activities
The space
We purchased this property as a means to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It is a quiet retreat and a perfect way to enjoy magnificent views, great swimming in the summer and fun wildlife (the eagles come swooping along the lake often and the bunnies will say hi also).
If you are looking for an upscale, sparkly home, this is NOT it. It is well stocked and furnished.
We allow one dog - pet fee applies. No cats due to allergies.
Please add a pet to the reservations when applicable.
Be mindful that around water (lakes, rivers, etc), there tends to be more rodents. We have traps/ultrasonic repellers/etc) to deter rodents.
Boat tie up rules - do not tie a boat to the float more than 2 hours per day and always use boat bumpers. No tie ups to anything else on the property, including but not limited to retaining wall, pier, gangway, pilings, etc). Absolutely no overnight tie ups to the float as this could cause damage at the guests expense. No anchoring the boat allowed in the lake. Please use the boat launch 2 minutes down the road-DO NOT USE the ramp on the property other than for small boats (kayaks). Damage to the property/fines from the County caused by boats/etc are at the guest expense.
Cameras - we have cameras monitoring the exterior of the property.
We have kayaks and a playset for guest use. These may sometimes have cobwebs-after all, they are outdoors. We have a broom and/or rags to wipe them down.
Distances to some points of interest:
10 mins to Lake Padden Park
15 mins to downtown Bellingham
15 mins Western Washington University
20 mints to Bellingham Airport
20 mins to Bellis Fair Mall
20 mins to Larrabee State Park
1hr 30 mins to Mt. Baker
20 minutes to Trackside/Portal (bike, putt-putt, beer garden, food, ice cream, etc)
Guest access
You are welcome to use the single and tandem kayak. Please DO NOT drag them across the yard or ramp. These need to be lifted.
Other things to note
ONE WEEK MINIMUMS (6 nights) - June through September 2nd
3 NIGHT MINIMUMS - holiday weekends/spring break (March/April)
There is no AC in this home and it will get warm in the summer months. We offer several fans.
*We live on the same street to help with any needs when we can,* We also have home caretakers that check on the property. Our neighbors are always looking out for each other.

What makes this property unique
Lake Samish is a shallow lake (warm in the summer months - to our standards). The home gets amazing afternoon sun with picturesque views of Mt. Chuckanut...not to mention the lake is RIGHT in front of you!
