If you're seeking privacy and seclusion, this mountain retreat is the one for you! Located about three-quarters of a mile up the Logan Mountain slope, you will find quiet solitude with a great view of the Absaroka Mountain range. Elk and mule deer are hunted in season around this forty-acre compound and the adjoining federal lands. Guests with horses return year after year to enjoy riding the 100's of miles of trails in the immediate area.. At Lazy J Basin, nineteenth century privacy meets twenty-first century amenities and comfort!

When entering this cabin, you are welcomed by an open floor plan with a gas fireplace and fantastic views through the windows. The kitchen is fully equipped with all your cooking needs. The kitchen does have a mini fridge, but for additional cold goods, there is a full-size refrigerator. For guest convenience there is a washer and dryer. Newly installed mini-split air conditioning keeps the cabin comfortable during the summer months. Bedroom 1 is located in the loft and has a queen bed. You enter the bedroom 2 through the bathroom and has a full bed. Bedroom 3 has twin bunk beds. The bathroom has a step-in shower. Make this one of kind property your home away from home on your next trip to the wild west.

Awe striking and private

Beyond expectations based on setting. Clean and well kept. A bit daunting to find and g00gle maps takes you wrong way for “driveway”. If you are approaching for the first time and feel like you’re driving through a quarry, then you’re in the right spot. Drive toward then past the storage building. It’s steep everywhere you walk, but views are wonderful. Nits: reccomend 4x4 for higher clearance over weeds in driveway, small shower in single bath, no dishwasher, no internet but my ATT cellular worked enough for video chat. Giggles: great ambiance, horse facilities, well appointed, clean, 3 bedrooms, potable water, killer views (3 large buck deer passed thru).

Gorgeous views!!

Amazing views and privacy galore. Well-kept cabin with a warm feel. We were a little uncertain that we were on the right road leading up to the cabin. Just keep going. We timed it and it took a little under 5 mins from the main road to reach the cabin. The bedroom layout is unique but the views and privacy are worth it! There’s also no wifi. For our family, a few days away from wifi was exactly what we needed! Thank you for a great stay and we hope to visit again in the future!!

Fantastic Retreat in the Hills

Booked this stay to visit Yellowstone and the town of Cody. Have 2 teenagers who really enjoyed the peace and quiet and ability to disconnect from electronics. The family was able to spend quality time together in the most beautiful setting and relax. We loved our stay there and look forward to coming back. Unique location away from everything

A true mountain oasis

My family of 4 drove here from Minnesota in our Wrangler, bought some cowboy hats and then traversed our way into the mountains of Wyoming off the beaten path of a beaten path to find this little ranch house; fully equipped with a place to park your jeep (or your horse). One of my favorite amenities was that their was no wifi and you could hardly get reception - forced us to play games and talk to each other... it was amazing. Quick word of caution, try to check-in before nightfall as it's a little tricky to see the signage and some of the landmarks for the turn. We highly recommend!

Mountain retreat

Beautiful mountain cabin! We loved staying here, it was a short drive to Downtown Cody and a great location to travel to Yellowstone.

Family of 4 with kiddos loved it!

Our family visited Yellowstone for a few days and this was an amazing place. Our kiddos ages 7 & 9 loved it just as much as we did. Cell service was minimal which is a great thing these days… but if you plan to work remotely here don’t plan on it. We enjoyed taking some hikes around the property. The reviews were accurate about trying to come in during the daylight as at night could be a challenge. You’d never even know this place is there. Just loved it!

Nice location

We enjoyed the location of the property, including the secluded area and the spectacular views. Just be warned that the bathroom, specially the shower, is anything but spacious. Also, we had a mouse problem when we were in the home. Which I’m sure is something homes In this area are prone to but it was not fun walking on pins and needles waiting for the mice to come out in front of you. They had been there a while because there was several areas of mouse droppings in the downstairs rooms, including the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. Overall, it was a lovely stay and great location.

Cozy Mountain Cabin

What a lovely place to stay while exploring Yellowstone Park and the Cody area. THe cabin is tucked away on a mountainside- could not be more private. It is a bit or a drive to get up there, and hard to find the first time, but worth the drive when you get there. We especially enjoyed the views and the breeze on the front porch. The cabin is well appointed and had everything we needed for cooking simple meals, as well as plently of linens, towels, etc. It is a bit of a drive into Yellowstone- about 40 minutes to the gate, but Yellowstone is so large that it is another hour to hour and a half to get to the sites you want to see. But the drive in and out of the park is stunning, so we grew to like it! The rental company was very helpful and attentive. All in all- a lovely vacation rental.

Awesome House with Spectacular Views

There are amazing views from every window. Try to get there before dark because it's tough to find otherwise. Enjoy the porch any time of day....coffee in the AM.or dinner at night. You don't need anything but your clothes and food because this house has everything!

Great location for Cody, WY & Yellowstone

We loved this cabin in the mountains. Our kids enjoyed climbing around and exploring outside. We had plenty of room for our family of 5. It’s about a 25 minute drive from Cody and takes about 50 minutes to get to the East entrance of Yellowstone during the day when there’s normal traffic.

Perfect getaway

We loved the location. It doesn’t get better than this home and location if you want serenity. Boys enjoyed climbing rocks surrounding the home and I enjoyed doing yoga on the deck. Great location in terms of reaching everywhere we wanted to go. Thank you!

Beautiful cabin!

We had a great stay at the lazy j! Would love to go back there, very quite relaxing area. The cabin itself tho, that's the best part. We all hated to leave it, but couldn't fit it into our suitcases. lol I highly recommend a stay here :)

Perfect location between Cody and Yellowstone

If you're looking for a cabin near Yellowstone that's quiet and remote, but still close to the amenities in Cody and Yellowstone National Park then the Lazy J Basin is the ideal spot. I could easily get used to sitting out on the deck with my morning coffee watching the sun rise. The closest cabin you can see is right over the other side of the valley, so peaceful and private really do describe the Lazy J Basin.The cabin itself was well appointed so it provided a very comfortable place to relax between sight seeing trips. As a family of 4 we did not even use the third bedroom, but it was nice to know it was there in case our kids had wanted a room each. As for amenities, this cabin is ideally situated to use as a base for seeing the Tetons, Yellowstone and Beartooth Mountains. Cody is little more than 10 minutes away which was very handy for provisions and the tourist attractions like The Irma, rodeo and evening gunfight. In summary, it was the perfect cabin for what we wanted. Private, peaceful, close to Yellowstone and with a stunning view from that deck down to the valley. If we return to Yellowstone then the Lazy J Basin will be where I'll want to stay.
