About this property
3-bedroom remodeled home in Old Town Monterey with large yard and home office
Our home is a light-filled colonial-style home in Old Town Monterey, within walking distance of downtown's Alvarado Street. It is on a street-to-street lot so there is a large back deck and large yard to relax and play in. Built in 1928, the home is newly renovated and has an open floor plan downstairs with white oak floors. The kitchen has all new appliances including gas range and oven, large fridge, and microwave. The counters are beautiful Neolith and the kitchen has a large center island and a nearby inset desk area. The high efficiency washer and dryer are also new, and are tucked away in custom cabinetry just off the kitchen. The dining room with table for 6 is open to the kitchen and living room. The living room has a large picture window, wonderful L-couch, a new gas fireplace, digital piano, and a bookshelf full of great books for all ages and interests. The downstairs bathroom is a half bath.
Our home has three bedrooms with closets. The first bedroom has a Cal King bed, and the others each have a twin bed with twin pull-out trundle. The upstairs bathroom is a full bath with heated tile flooring and a large new bathtub. The home has a home office, with a sun-filled dedicated workspace, adjustable standing desk, and a large comfy L-couch that can also sleep 1-2.
The kitchen area has double-doors that open out to our large back deck and yard. On the deck is a gas BBQ and twinkly patio lights. To be eco-friendly and water-conscious, we do not water our back 'lawn' so in the dry months it becomes fairly dry and dusty and in the wetter months it becomes quite lush. The yard is completely fenced, with a large back gate for when you need to pull a car or trailer onto the large cement pad. The yard is rimmed with climbing rose bushes, Mexican marigold, and privet, and we have a several small planters for growing veggies.
We live in our home full-time, except when we travel. This is a loved and lovingly cared for family home, so it will obviously show signs of our life here. But, we will make sure you have drawer and closet space, luggage racks, fresh linens, and a clean and tidy home!
About the neighborhood:
Old Town Monterey is perfectly located for access to all there is to enjoy on the Monterey Peninsula. A short walk down the hill takes you to patio light-strung Alvarado Street, with its many restaurants, bakeries, and shops. Just up the hill from our home is Veteran's Park, a wonderful area for a fun hike, a stair-climbing workout, camping, or just some fun at the playground. Also nearby are Fisherman's Wharf (about a mile), Cannery Row (1.5 miles), and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (2 miles). The home is also steps away from a hiking and running trail that leads to the 26-mile network of relatively unknown historic hiking trails that span Pebble Beach and connect to open spaces beyond. If you prefer flat running or walking, or run/walk with a stroller, the home is just 0.5 miles from the Monterey Bay Recreation Trail, a paved path that spans our coastline from Lover's Point to to Fort Ord Dunes State Park.
Our neighborhood is residential and quiet, serving as a great jumping-off point to the bustle of Monterey's tourist attractions, the exclusivity of Pebble Beach and its golf courses, the beauty of the Big Sur coast, and so much more! Monterey regional airport is a short 10-minute drive, and there is shuttle service to San Jose and San Francisco airports.
Additional info:
Our home is strictly non-smoking. Pets are not allowed.
