About this property
Historic "Woody" Cabin on the River at Miramichee Falls w/kayaks
Unwind at this historic cabin on the river at Camp Miramichee Falls in Hardy, AR. This original stone cabin was built in 1940, used by the Zonta Foundation, then by YWCA Camp Miramichee until 1979. Its history and craftsmanship make it a unique find to spend a relaxing getaway. Stone floors and walls keep it cool in the summer. The original stone fireplace is cozy in the winter. Though the modern central air and heat are a nice touch!
You will feel like you are in a treehouse perched above the Southfork of the Spring River. Your cabin is directly overlooking river. You have your own firepit on the waterfront and you may use our kayaks around the cabin area. This cabin is approved for adults only for safety reasons (proximity to the river and heights). We are long-time hosts and we are excited to be joining VRBO. We look forward to hosting you.

About the host
Hosted by Catherine Lynn Horton

We are new to VRBO. But, we are not new to hosting. My husband and I started hosting in 2017. We love this area. I grew up going to summer camp in Hardy, Ark. I learned to swim and canoe in the river and made life-long friendships there. I have pursued the mountains, deserts, and all types of water over the years. Yet, as an adult, this area called me back. Now I have the chance to share it all and nothing makes me happier. Reconnect with nature and the personal touches of this small town.
Why they chose this property
In 1916, Camp Miramichee was founded on the banks of the South Fork of the Spring River in Hardy, Arkansas. This stone cabin was built in 1940, used by the Zonta Foundation and by YWCA Camp Miramichee until 1979, when the camp moved upstream.
Being a Camp Miramichee camper myself, I was drawn back to the area as an adult. I met and married my husband who was living at the old camp. In 2019, we acquired and renovated some of the original Miramichee stone cabins. While preserving as much of the camp history as we could, we added modern creature comforts to the original cabin experience. We offer 2 cabins on the river and 3 cabins on a wooded hillside for rent here at Camp Miramichee Falls.
My husband and I also live on the grounds of the original Camp Miramichee and are stewards of the land. We love and honor its history and do our best to preserve and share it.

What makes this property unique
River - river - river!
This is one of the prettiest sections of the Southfork River. It joins the Spring River about a mile downstream.
Beautiful Miramichee Falls just downstream from the cabin.
The river is (usually!) the perfect depth to put a chair in the river and just sit and let stress melt away. It is also a good depth and the current is good for floating and swimming. The river is shallow right in front of the cabin but has deeper areas close by.
History of the camp (YWCA Camp Miramichee). We have LOTS of photos from 1920 to current day, documenting the history.
Craftsmanship of this historic cabin built in 1940 (stone walls and floors, and original wood panelling).
Fireplace for cozy winter nights.
Kayaks for use around the cabin area.
The private park across the river has horses that roam freely and are fun to watch.
