About this property
Cozy Aloha Suite with AC in charming Kailua
Welcome to our home! We are a legal vacation rental (TA-188-004-1472-01, 90/BB-0102) hosting guests for more than 30 years. We are an environmentally-conscious family doing our share to "Live Lightly" so our natural resources are protected.
**PLEASE NOTE: As of November 2022 the area next to our home is being used as a construction holding area for a project being done a few blocks away. There are some trucks and cars that start up and leave in the morning (7-8 am) and then return to park in the afternoon. They typically do not work past 5pm. Occasionally during the day they may come and pick up materials or prepare for the next steps. It can be noisy at times. We have reduced the rate to compensate for any noise disturbance. Please know that while this may be an inconvenience for your short visit, you have the option of being able to use the AC and close the windows to block out noise. Our main home does not have AC and we endure this on a daily basis.
Come stay in the spacious Aloha Suite for the perfect "home away from home" atmosphere. Your entrance is located a short distance from your reserved parking space and opens to a spacious suite decorated in the colors of Hawai'i. The pathway to the Suite is "cobblestone" which makes it rough and a bit uneven. Please be sure you are able to navigate this type of surface safely. The suite (about 350 square feet) is furnished with a comfortable Queen Bed. The kitchenette is stocked with tableware, utensils, coffee and pots and pans. There is a microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker. The large bathroom provides a walk-in shower and handmade shelled mirrors add to the decor. We understand the damage pesticides have caused to our fragile world so we use an organic spray outdoors every few months to keep the occasional ant or bug at a minimum. Please know that geckos (Hawaiian house lizard) are very common. They do not hurt you nor is it a sign of uncleanliness. They eat the mosquitos and so we are appreciative of that. Your vacation in Hawaii is one to be enjoyed and if the occasional ant or gecko may be disruptive you may want to look at a hotel or other accommodation. We want you to take home positive memories of your time with us in Hawai'i.
Please be aware that there is no smoking on property. This is due to the health of a family member. For safety and policies only registered guests are allowed on property. Please be aware of this if you have family and friends on island. Please do not share details, address or information with others. A home can become a target if it is known to be a visitor accommodation.
Kailua is about a 30-60 minute drive from Honolulu International Airport depending on traffic. With public transportation this takes about 1 hour - 90 minutes and requires a bus transfer to make connection to Kailua. While Kailua is easy to navigate by foot and we are conveniently located, a rental car is recommended if you choose to venture and explore other parts of the island.
Please be aware of other guests when you walk through the gate leading to your Suite. On your left is another guest unit and we appreciate you being mindful of the noise when you walk past. If you have a late arrival, please keep noise to a minimum and talk softly so our neighbors and other guests are not disturbed.
Guests have access to the whole suite, outside covered sitting area and small yard located by the Aloha Suite. No access to host's backyard area beyond the second gate. ONE parking space is provided. No parking allowed in front of neighbor houses as this jeopardizes our license.
Please let us know your approximate arrival time. After your booking is confirmed, we will send you driving directions and instructions on how to enter if it is late or we are not at home. Mandatory Hawai'i vacation rental tax of 14.91% is included in your stay. There are no additional fees upon arrival.
We charge our guests a minimal cleaning fee. We incur the additional cleaning costs so you may have a more affordable vacation. To offset the cost to you we ask that you please follow the checkout procedures: Empty trash in the bins located by the mailbox. Blue for recycling, green for compost and grey for normal rubbish. Wash all dishes properly and return to the cupboards. Please put glasses and cups upside down.
We leave the windows open to enjoy the tropical breezes. If you use the air conditioner please close all windows and doors. Failing to do so will result in damage to the unit and you will be accountable. We live next to a park so occasionally the dust may blow inside. This is normal living in Hawaii.
Reach out if you have any questions.

About the host
Hosted by Gabriele

We have lived in Hawai'i since we both were young children. We both graduated from our public local high schools. I love where I live and am grateful that I can share the beauty of the people, culture and land of Hawai'i. We are environmentally conscious and want to preserve the limited resources of our island. We ask that our guests are respectful and humble at all times.
Why they chose this property
Our neighborhood is mostly long term residents who have lived in their homes for 30 years or more. We support one another. We are located a short 8-10 minute walk from beautiful Kailua Beach. Kailua town is a short 15-20 minute walk. The busline is located about 5 houses down the street. The bus can take you directly into Honolulu.
Vacation rentals can be controversial in residential neighborhoods and so we ask you to remain respectful and come and go quietly.

What makes this property unique
We are unique because we have a legal license to operate. Current licenses are no longer given and we want to ensure that policies and procedures are followed by all guests so our license is not jeopardized.
