About this property

Tiny House [Fenced in yard, 10mins to Downtown AVL]

Our guests come from all walks of life - and we do too. Our tiny home is a safe space for folks from all minority and marginalized groups and we hope it reflects our deep appreciation and respect for the differences among us. Whatever your age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, sexual identity, education, or national origin, we invite you to "Come on up to the house!"

ABOUT THE PROPERTY

## Hurricane Helene ##

We are very lucky and amazed to say that we were not injured and there was no damage to our house or the Tiny House! We are extremely thankful and grateful for everyone who came here to help us recover from this 1 in 1000 year storm. We also wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who wrote and asked if we were ok #AshevilleStrong

## About The Tiny House ##

Located in a quiet, woodsy neighborhood, our tiny house has almost every amenity and is perfect for couples, adventurers, family & friends. We welcome pets at no extra charge.

Enjoy our comfortable pet-friendly tiny house with a fenced-in yard, deck, and beautiful views just minutes from Asheville's River Arts District, the Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Downtown Asheville's wonderful restaurants, shops, breweries, and other attractions.

The kitchen has everything you need to cook or just heat up leftovers from your favorite restaurant. The bathroom has a claw foot tub complete with bubble bath. The main room has a Murphy Cabinet bed and small seating area.

If you're bringing your pup(s), the yard is completely fenced in (although other people's pets and wildlife can [and do] get into the yard). We have blankets, a dog bed, treats and more. We also have a large, adjustable dog crate you can use.

GUEST ACCESS

You'll have the whole house + deck and backyard to yourself (it's all separate from our home, which is on the same property). We have off-street parking for 2 cars (or a car/truck and ~20ft trailer).

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS

We want you to feel comfortable and welcome!

We live just up the hill from the Tiny House ( in the house just where you park ). If we're outside when you arrive (or when you're coming or going during your stay), we'll stop and say hello and introduce ourselves.

Otherwise, we're always just a quick text or phone call away if you have any questions or need anything at all. We're always happy to answer any questions you might have about local events, activities, restaurants, etc.

HOUSE RULES

1. PARKING
Please park in front of our house. We have room for 2 extra parked cars near the "Tiny House" sign with the house number. Please do not park in the spaces across the street (they belong to our neighbors). Please don't try to drive down the gravel footpath to the Tiny House, it's not suitable for cars.

2. PLUMBING
We have a sensitive plumbing system. Please put *ONLY* toilet tissue in the toilet. *EVERYTHING* else must go in the trash.

3. PETS
We're delighted to host you and your pets!
A. Fleas & Ticks: All pets must be either on regular flea and tick repellent treatment OR must be treated for fleas and ticks three (3) days prior to arrival.
B. Furniture: PLEASE protect our bedding, linens and furniture by always placing a pet blanket on the bed / furniture for your pet to lay on.
C. Pet Waste: Please clean up after your pet by picking up your pet’s waste in the yard, on the sidewalk and street and placing it in the outside trash.

4. MUD / Spills
Please use the towels on the ledge in the bathroom, or in the bins near the front and back doors for cleanup (mud, red wine, etc.) Please do not use our kitchen towels, bathroom towels or bed linens for “clean up.”

5. SMOKING
There is absolutely no smoking inside the house. There is an ashtray on the back porch. E-cigarettes / vape pens / etc. ONLY may be used inside.

6. SAFETY / WILDLIFE
Asheville & Woodfin are part of the Appalachian temperate rain forest perched atop one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. In addition to the lush forests and incredible views, we have insects and animals (like Black bears, birds of prey, coyotes, deer, rabbits, snakes and other wildlife) that are a natural part of our ecosystem and we are trying to help them stay safe and in the forest.

A. Please do not leave any food (even if it's in a package or container) or food-garbage in your vehicle or outside the house. Black bears are curious creatures and will break into your car for an M&M. Although they can easily get in, they don't have the same facility getting out. Once inside your vehicle, they are likely to destroy the interior and possibly injure themselves trying to get out.

B. Please do not allow your pets to be unattended in the yard. The yard is fenced in, but other people’s pets and wildlife in the area can ( and do ) get in.

7. QUIET HOURS
Please keep the noise levels down on weekdays between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., and between 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

8. Accidents Happen
If you notice something broken, or damaged or if you break or damage something, please tell us! We know that accidents happen and we're so grateful to most of our guests who tell us what broke or was damaged and how it happened (if they know).

OTHER DETAILS

## Things to note about the house ##

The Tiny House is located at the end of a gravel footpath, about 150 ft from the street / driveway. The footpath has a slight moderate slope and is not suitable for cars. We dream of tinkering up some motorized luggage cart with a remote, but until then, we're always available to help carry bags.

There is no dishwasher or laundry in the house (there are several laundromats nearby).

The Tiny House has a 30 gallon hot water heater - a little on the small side if you're used to living in at least an average size house. If you plan to take a bath, the hot water heater has to be full if you want warm bath water (e.g., don't try to take a bath right after someone has showered or washed a bunch of dishes).

## Groceries ##

Ingles and The Fresh Market, both on Merrimon Ave, are the closest grocery stores - about 2½ miles from the house.

## Restaurants ##

There are several terrific restaurants less than 2 miles from the house.

# Moe's Original Bar B Que #

"Moe's Original Bar B Que features award-winning Bama-style pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken smoked over hardwood served with two unique sauces in addition to Catfish and a Shrimp Moe-Boy sandwich. Additionally, a daily rotation of traditional Southern sides and tasty desserts are served fresh daily from recipes passed down for generations. Large party takeout orders and full service catering for parties and special events with delivery are also available."

# The Barrelhouse #

"Local pub with a late night scratch kitchen that's always open. We specialize in pierogies, wings and all natural, grass fed Angus burgers."

From personal experience, their Elk burgers are absolutely fantastic!

## COVID-19 ##

The health and well-being of our guests and their pets will always be our top priority. We take standards for hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and we believe in being transparent about the steps we’re taking to protect you and your pets, as well as ourselves.

In addition to the cleaning and disinfecting protocols that we normally follow between every guest, we're now also following CDC’s COVID-19 recommendations for cleaning and disinfecting homes (available on the CDC website).

Also, both Michele and I are fully vaccinated and boosted. In addition, everyone who cleans or performs routine maintenance inside the Tiny House is also fully vaccinated and boosted.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Michele is /The Conversation Coach and Dana is a UX designer and furniture builder. We met in 2009 and married several years later on Halloween night at Michele's family home in Fairview.

Why they chose this property

This is where half of Michele's family lived. In fact, her Great Great Grandfather built the house next door to us over 130 years ago.

What makes this property unique
