Isolated Knotty Pine Charming Cabin w/Stone Fireplace on 575 Acre Preserve

One Room All Knotty Pine, Hardwood Floors, Stone Fireplace w/Kitchenette

Romantic, Cozy cabin for 2 with beautiful stone fireplace in secluded 575 wooded acre preserve with stream & waterfalls. Newly remodeled with bath, tile flooring, Kitchenette, hardwood floors. Nature Lover's Paradise. This charming comfortable cabin is an authentic 1930s era hunting cabin on a large property with hiking trails that go on for miles. The stream & waterfalls are breathtaking with a private swimming hole that is relaxing and refreshing. Bring your fishing pole (if you have a Pennsylvania fishing license).

Exceptionally private, half-mile long driveway (gated); for 75 years was a private hunting club but now is maintained as the owner's exclusive retreat. Privacy and discretion assured.

This building is one of three rental properties at the Dwarfskill Preserve, which include a 4 BR Lodge, 2BR Cottage and 1Rm Cabin. The buildings are spaced around a large circle at the end of a 1/2 mile driveway. The Lodge faces the Dwarfskill Creek and its screen porch and deck cannot be seen from the other two buildings; the Cottage faces a meadow, similarly private. The Cabin sits between the other two buildings, at the beginning of the trail to the waterfall on the 575 acre property. The only other habitable structure on the property is the Caretaker's Barn, halfway up the driveway, which is not available for short-term rental.

The cabin is located only 6 miles from Milford, PA, which Atlantic Magazine once called 'The Prettiest County Seat in America'. 3/4 of the village is in a National Historic District featuring galleries, antiques, coffee shops, boutiques and specialty shopping.

Heritage attractions include Grey Towers (Richard Morris Hunt-designed 19th c. stone mansion), The Columns Museum (featuring the blood-stained Lincoln flag, which cushioned the President's head moments after he was shot) and the Hotel Fauchere/Relais & Chateaux, with its three restaurants, patisserie, day spa, vintage menu collection and permanent exhibit of Hudson River School paintings. The day spa, Badea & Soul, offers massages, facials and body scrubs/wraps in the comfort of your cabin rental, by pre-arranged appointment. Contact them .

Milford is also adjacent to the 70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Park and the federally-protected Upper Delaware Wild & Scenic River offering a wide array of river activities, including tubing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, eagle-watching and more.

Beautiful rustic retreat
We rented all three cabins (lodge, cabin and cottage) at Dwarfskill Preserve for a family gathering: 8 adults, two young kids, and two big dogs. It was the most beautiful, peaceful setting for a wonderful, relaxed and relaxing holiday, and the owners were warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Easily accessible and yet incredibly private, Dwarskill Preserve offers 500+ acres of diverse woodland, meadows, creek, waterfalls and swimming holes. The cabins are all old (in a good way), reasonably well maintained and well outfitted with good kitchen equipment and hotel-quality bedding and towels. I can highly recommend it for a very special getaway.

Perfect place to de-stress!
Loved the cozy cabin and grounds. Engages all your senses from the sounds of the waterfalls, crackling fire, to the wood smoke (assuming you've built the fire close to the back of the firebox), to the gorgeous grounds to explore, to the comfortable bed to recover in. Trails need a little maintenance and cabin a brighter interior light but can't really think of anything more to make this the perfect getaway!

Perfect short getaway
I had a few days off from work in Manhattan. This place was a short 90 minute drive. I own property in the Adirondack mountains but it's locked up for winter, this place felt so much like home. I really enjoyed using the fireplace especially on the first night, when it was rainy and misty. The next day was a lovely 60 degrees and I hiked all around this beautiful property. There are many places to just sit and relax, read a book and enjoy nature. There are multiple waterfalls and cool rock formations, a swimming hole with Adirondack chairs on a deck over the water.. The fresh air and scent of pine is lovely. I can't say enough good things about this property, it was exactly what I needed. The cabin has a comfy bed. The kitchenette has everything you need. I kept cooking simple such as grilled cheese and soup, oatmeal, prepared chicken and rice etc. There are also multiple places to eat/shop that aren't too far. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would love to visit again. I met Megan and she is so pleasant and explained all I needed and gave me some great tips.

Great stay at this tiny cabin in the woods.
Tiny cabin in the woods. Everything was great. I think I would like it better in the summer to enjoy the water behind the property.

Great Cabin
My husband, dog and I had a great trip. We loved that we had so much land to explore without the crowds of the known trails. The cabin was cozy and just perfect for the three of us. The owners were great and very helpful. We grilled and had s'mores at the fire pit :) Would highly recommend for those that love the outdoors.

Weekend getaway
Our weekend was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet cabin in the woods where our dogs could run and we can relax by a fire. It had everything we needed for just the two of us. And the pups absolutely loved running through the snow and exploring the property! Our host was available and always responded quickly to answer our questions. It was clean and cozy and absolutely perfect. We did explore the town and found some great places to eat as well. We will 100% be back and can’t wait!

Totally recommend!
Bring your favorite person. Or just yourself. Bring your pet. Definitely bring an orange vest if you want to explore as much of the acreage as possible during hunting season. This location was beautiful even after the trees had been stripped of their leaves— I’d love to come back during the spring or early fall. The pictures don’t do the preserve justice. We made good use of the stone fireplace and the fire pit in the yard, plenty of firewood provided. Having the sound of the creek in the background was relaxing, unfortunately it was too cold to take a dip. The cabin was as described and very clean, the property is well-maintained. It was nice to know there was a backup generator for power because there was a t-storm the last night we were there. Water pressure in the shower was great, if you worry about that kinda thing. We brought our own pillows because we’re picky about that kinda thing. The kitchenette doesn’t really allow for cooking indoors but there is a grill out back and a toaster oven and microwave. Mini fridge lives up to its description, don’t bring a ton of perishables. Or you can take a quick drive to historic Milford and grab a bite and some coffee, maybe a beer at the brewery? Well worth the short 10-12min drive, the town is very quaint and clean and the people were friendly. I know I sound like an ad for Milford tourism but we did have a wonderful time in the area, there is plenty to do (even though some activities were limited due to COVID). We also appreciated being able to meet someone who led us to the property because we got there after the sun had set and we would have been driving around in circles looking for the mailbox that marked the path we needed to turn onto (it’s not on Google maps). Javier gave us a rundown of the preserve and was on his way after we asked questions. I hope to be able to come back here with some family to rent out the other properties on the preserve, would make for a great family vacation.

Such a cute small cabin with amazing secluded location. They definitely take their time thoroughly cleaning all cabins upon check out. My pups enjoyed their time swimming and hiking, as did my fiance and I! Overall a great experience, and I can't wait to come back!

A great change of scenery
From the moment we first arrived, we were met with great hospitality. Originally, we had only booked a cabin but since the entire premise was empty, we got an upgrade to the cottage. The entire premise was clean, tidy, and breathtaking. Communication was crystal clear with owner at all times, and has been without a doubt the best rent/stay experience we've ever had. Would definitely come here again!

Cabin
It felt as though the property manager was in a rush to orient me to the cabin and the property. The interior of the cabin was fine, but a bit more run down than the pictures showed. There was one rug that seemed to be covering a few problems with the floor underneath. The front door didn’t lock, which is a concern for a single woman on the property alone. The flashlight provided didn’t work, nor did the handheld butane lighters, nor did the light over the sink. All of the cabinets were full with linens, cleaning supplies and assorted kitchen ware so there was nowhere to put any personal food/kitchen items that I brought. I was surprised by how run down the other cottages on the property were and how much garbage of old rakes, hoses and other maintenance type items were just left lying around. The woods were very nice, but the trails not very clear, especially with all the leaves having fallen.

A romantic wilderness getaway
My husband and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. The cabin was so cozy and being able to hear those waterfalls right from the property was absolutely idyllic! It was far enough away from civilization to feel like a woodland adventure, but close enough to make grocery trips and fun jaunts into town for lunch. We noticed that is would be a great place to bring a large family, too, because you can easily all share the lodge, cabin, and cottage! We were especially excited that no one was staying in the lodge next to us bc we were able to use their fire pit and picnic table. The only thing wished was that our small cabin had its own fire pit and picnic table like the cottage and the lodge. If the other properties were occupied, we would not have been able to enjoy those amenities. Overall we highly recommend this hidden gem and will be back in the future!

Cabin in the woods
We had the best time. It was very private; no other cabins were rented during our stay and it was very quiet. We brought our fur baby and she loves hiking the trails daily, swimming in the water, and finding waterfalls. It was a gorgeous property and if you enjoy hiking and nature this place is for you.

Charmed by nature
As so many others have noted, the setting of Dwarfskill Preserve is idyllic. While the property has authentic, rustic charm, the amenities in the cabin were first class. Be sure to bring substantial footgear if you plan to take advantage of natural beauty surrounding you, the trails are only marginally improved and footing can be dicey. Milford is an easy drive on twisty, scenic - and remarkably well-maintained - roads. The town is charming and offers several suprisingly high quality dining options. Overall, this is one of the loveliest spots we've visited in the Northeast.

Owner is a writer and investor who lives in nearby Milford and New York City. Loves dogs, nature, reading and gentle, kind people.

Why they chose this property

I bought the property because it is exceedingly private, evokes a spiritual connection to nature and it is movie-set gorgeous. It is also close to NYC, only 75 miles away, but it feels like you’re in the Canadian northwoods or somewhere far away from the stresses and pressures of urban life.

What makes this property unique

Mushrooming; trout fishing; hiking; wildlife including black bear, deer, wild turkey, mountain lion. Very few mosquitoes (the bats eat them.)

Pond; stream; waterfall; swimming hole.
Exceptional privacy, half-mile long driveway.

The Historic Village of Milford - the birthplace of the American Conservation movement - is only 6 miles away, with heritage & cultural attractions, antiques and great restaurants (including the Delmonico Room, Bar Louis & the Patisserie Fauchere at The Hotel Fauchere, co-owned by the owner of this cottage).

70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
