About this property

Cape Oasis, complete upgrade Special discounted rate for couple and small groups

Cape Oasis is the perfect home for those who appreciate the natural beauty of the bay, want tranquility and privacy with a short walk to the beach. Manatees, starfish, seahorses, dolphins, bobcats, otters, ducks, eagles, ospreys, and deer have been viewed on property or from the dock. Public swimming pool available at Rish Beach Park .5 miles across the street. Boat launch at state park a mile from property. Pickleball courts and volleyball at nearby park.

For those interested in a video perspective of the home visit youtube and search for Bayrock 1 on Cape San Blas Florida. Please inquire after viewing my youtube videos to see if Cape Oasis (formerly Bayrock 1) suits your needs. Give me a ring (seven, eight, five, two, six, two, nine, four, three, six) Fishing is quite favorable. Inquire about the discount during September for couples and small groups.

The home has just recently been renovated and is available for private rentals until October when the conversion to a bed and breakfast model will be implemented

A 500 ft dock is a few steps from the home. A managed pristine environment of live oaks, palms, sea oats and sago palms surround the home.

2 upstairs bedrooms have king size beds and one with twin bed. 2 bedrooms downstairs one with 2 double beds. The other has the walk in shower and king bed. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with shower.

The main floor living area has TV and roku. Attached to the main floor living room is a large kitchen with stove, oven, counter top oven, full size frig with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, blender, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, cups silverware and cooking utensils. Off of the kitchen is a screened porch with patio table and 8 chairs. The washer and dryer are hidden away on the screened porch. A large handicap accessible shower is located on the main floor. The home is unique in that there are no steps from your car into the home.

There is parking for 3 vehicles. Boat trailers can be parked close to the property entrance on a private paved road set aside for trailer parking.

The home is a monolithic concrete dome. The concrete adds extra protection and energy efficiency. Amenities include wifi, tv, central heat and air conditioning. Upstairs has the entertainment area with billiard table. On the back porch overlooking the bay is a ping pong table and patio table with seating for 4.

Bring a boat or kayak for scalloping, fishing and recreation. If no boat plenty of fish can still be caught from the dock. Try throwing a cast netting for mullet from the dock. A favorite activity is spear or bow fishing for mullet as they swim under the dock. Floundering by night or day is an activity for those seeking some adventure. Depending on time of year an eagle or bobcat may be spotted close to the home.

The Bayrock experience is serene, peaceful and private. Here birds are singing, bikes can be ridden on the 12 mile bike path, snorkeling in the bay for scallops, windsurf in the bay and shelling on the beaches.

Golf and Pickle Ball courts are a short drive away at St Joe Country Club and beginning of Cape Road. Horseback riding on the beach starts at the beginning of the cape Road. Freshwater fishing is a 30 minute drive at Lake Wimico via depot creek or white city.

The cape bike path runs into the St Joseph State Park from the beginning of the cape road about 12 miles.

Unique retro house

This place was straight out of the 80’s! One of the most unique houses we’ve ever stayed in. Crazy cool layout with plenty of space. It’s not your average beach house by any stretch, but it’s a good fit for people who aren’t into the basic standard beach house vibe. The kids loved the fun accommodations and we all loved the view! Could use a few updates but would definitely stay again.

Hidden Getaway

This was our first vacation since forever. It was a hidden gem. We felt like we were in our own little get away. Check in and out was easy. We enjoyed having our privacy. Great space to be together and still spread out the group.

Fun Time at Bayrock

We were looking for something quiet, something unique and something pristine. The bayrock rental ticked all three boxes with some other advantages. The biggest plus was the room. We were a group of 4 couples. Each of us had our seperate bedroom and bathroom. We could gather in one area of the home ore spread out which was great for comfort and privacy. The dock was perfect for docking the 2 boats we brought and Captain Hal gave us some tips on fishing the local spots. Overall the vacation was pleasant and relaxing which is what we wanted. The beach accross the street was an added plus with the bathrooms and picnic area. We definitely recommend bayrock to adults and families seeking a pleasant relaxing vacation spot.

September 2020 rental review

Property interior was clean and spacious. Exterior grounds need a little tlc, but nothing a weedeater and mulch could'nt fix. Has lots of screened in porch space too. House was very comfortable, lots of natural lighting.. All appliances were in good working order. We did have the misfortune of having to shelter in place during a hurricane, This house is tough! She stood the storm. She had a few leaks from the driving wind/rain but I am sure she will be a great place to stay after repairs. The house is tucked away on the bay with great views and about 2.5-3 blocks to the beach. There is a little public beach access with bathrooms and covered areas across the street. Even with the storm we had a good time and felt safe in the house. The owner was on site and very courteous.

Very cool and unique house. Needs some outside TLC

We had a great time. Our host accommodated our two cars and a small boat. The public beach access is virtually across the street. Easy walk. The house is a very unique dome type architecture. The inside is very spacious. Bedrooms are very nice and big. Beds are very comfortable. the common areas upstairs and downstairs are big. Tv's everywhere. We enjoyed multiple games of pool. Kitchen is great. The outside is showing some aging. The upstairs deck/patio is great with a great view. The decking needs some new paint. The back screen door from the patio to the walkway needs to be replaced. It doesn't really close well so critters can sneak in. The patio ping pong table is a plywood sheet which is ok but the paddles were in bad shape so bring some paddles. The pier is super long (500') which you need if you are going to tie up a boat. We had a great time fishing off the pier! Overall excellent experience! Our host responded quickly to anything we needed. We'll definitely visit again!

Bayrock is the Perfect Scalloping Destination

Bayrock is located in an ideal spot on St Joseph Bay with a long dock and easy boating access. We arrived late and Mick left the home open and the light on. We were able to unload, relax then retire to comfortable beds with private bathrooms. The weather was hot but the inside was cool and comfortable. In the morning we gathered in the large kitchen and the coffee maker. The early risers gathered outside on the screened in porch with their coffees and donuts. We love the layout of the home. The bedrooms are both upstairs and on the main floor. Everyone enjoyed quiet sleep and woke up on their own time. The really nice thing about Bayrock was not having to go anywhere else. Some of our crowd scalloped and fished. Others enjoyed exploring and swimming in the bay while some walked over to the beach enjoying the surf. There were several restaurants within 5 minutes drive and more than enough within 15-20 minute drive. It is easy to fall into island time after a few days in Bayrock. I was out for a non stressful vacation and after a few days we were all having pina coladas and singing Jimmy Buffet songs. I am glad no one objected to us having too much fun. Here are some answers to those thinking about renting Bayrock. Mick was easy to communicate with always timely and prompt with his responses. He remained available during the time we stayed at Bayrock and was helpful sharing local information with us. The home was clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the AC was cold. There was plenty of room for our large group. We liked the privacy of Bayrock being able to relax and not worry about anything. The boys liked the idea of playing basketball then jumping into the bay for a swim. We did some exploring of our own on bikes riding into the St Joe State Park about a mile down a separate bike path. Mick directed us to a spot at the end of the trail with a spectacular view of Cape San BLas Beach. It is well worth the bike ride for anyone interested in taking some terrific photos of the beach. Along the way we saw deer browsing and they just watched us as we passed. If you want a cool relaxing destination and you appreciate privacy and nature then Bayrock is a place to visit. We have recommended Bayrock to several in our circle of friends. We hope to return in a few years.

all the wildlife!!

I went to Bayrock 1 with my elderly father, adult brother, his girlfriend, my husband and four children (ages 19, 16, 9, and 9). The children all thought there should have been more information on the wildlife as a selling point. They caught and released frogs and lizards daily, actually multiple times a day. We saw during our stay multiple sting rays, a couple of horse shoe crabs, a large spider crab and multiple snails and hermit crabs but the highlight of our trip was seeing an ovation otter frolicking in our driveway. We thought the house was great for our family but we are a critter loving set. If you aren't coming to the area to see wildlife, this might not be the house for you because the natural setting is definitely the highlight.

Beautiful Beach and Bay

Overall we had a wonderful experience exploring the beaches and bay with our families. This property is conveniently located with lots of potential and the owner is very responsive. While the outdoor adventures abound making this an amazing vacation destination, the home itself was uncared for and quite outdated (dark, dusty, lights out, fans not working, no air conditioning downstairs, overgrown, etc.). It is too bad as this is a quirky, fun place just needs a good bit of TLC. We will be back to Cape San Blas!!!

We came for the unique building and superb location--and stayed for Hurricane Michael!

If you want an ordinary vacation, go to a condo or traditional beach house. If you want a memorable experience, this is the pace for you. The monolithic concrete dome is located on high ground above the bay. We arrived late Saturday and Sunday had caught our first big red fish. We also got the word that Hurricane Michael was inbound to arrive Wednesday. Everybody started evacuating. But why leave the strongest structure you know of to go to a weaker structure somewhere else? We decided to stay and have no regrets. We experienced the great storm as it approached and as the strongest part of the eye wall passed over. We saw the water blown out of the bay down to bare mud flats and then rush back in to 12 feet higher than normal. The next morning I was again catching red fish off the dock! No city water and no power? No problem because Mich is the greatest owner imaginable. He too had stayed in his adjacent dome home and immediately got on fixing damage and making sure we had everything we needed to survive in style. Red fish and shrimp gumbo coked over an open fire were our staples. Post storm the weather was perfect and we were thrilled to watch the wildlife including butterflies, doves, pelicans, seagulls, herons, ospreys, bald eagles and squirrels, get right back to living their lives. You may not get the hurricane with most visits but you are certain to get Mick and a unique and memorable vacation experience if you choose Bayrock 1.

Bayrock 1 Retreat

The guys and I were looking for a getaway from all the stress life can bring. We found our perfect retreat at Bayrock 1. We didn't arrive until late the 1st night due to weather delaying travel but Mick was there to greet us and get us settled in. We hit the beds hard but I can't remember the last time I had such a peacful nights sleep. We awoke the next morning to sunshine and ocean breezes. We spent the next few days touring the island, fishing off the pier right out the back door, swimming in the Gulf of Mexico and just kicking back. At night we threw back a couple of beers, cooked on the grill and swaped stories of our youth. There were pool games and music playing through out the nights. Mick hooked us up with a local fishing guide and we tore em up! The guide knew the bay honey holes and we limited out on sea trout. The guide cleaned and bagged the fish for us. Man they were good fresh off the grill and we had some to take back home to the wives and kids! All in all the guys agreed we had a great retreat that was relaxing and we will definetly be back.

Bayrock 1 Spectacular views and virtual serenity!

We arrived late in the evening, Mick was already there. As a member of his community for more than 20 years he was most helpful with his insights, he was genuinely concerned about us, and expressed a deep interest in our complete satisfaction. We were a bit weary from the trip but overwhelmed by the amenities and freshness of our vacation home. The kids were so excited they could hardly sleep! Whether you are a family looking for adventure or relaxation, a group retreat, or friends looking to connect or reconnect we truly found a hidden treasure here. We found a place that was safe, secluded and certainly not over crowded. Mick provided a fishing guide (with over 30 years experience) for a very reasonable price. We caught our limit. I love to fish but don't often get to go so I brought my trusty zebco 202 ( The Pinto of fishing rods). I was practicing my casts on the pier and hooked into a bunch of redfish, one of which broke the line. As a Chef I enjoyed working in the nicely equipped open kitchen preparing fresh redfish and the blue crabs that we had also caught. My daughter collected as many sea shells as she could carry off from the white sandy beaches. My wife enjoyed reading on the deck overlooking the ocean. In the evenings we relaxed in the hot tub, played pool and ping pong, or just took things easy.We wrapped up the trip by cruising the oceans waters and observed dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, horseshoe crabs, herons and many species of wildlife. Our plans include atleast one visit annually that left us feeling refreshed and energized!

Pleasant Days and Blissful Nights at Bayrock 1

We have traveled to the Panhandle area of Florida for years. We started out in the Destin area and have gradually moved Eastward. Cape San Blas reminds us of all the reasons we travel to Florida. The area is still quaint and unspoiled. The people are friendly and traffic is non existent in the winter months. Bayrock 1 suited us like a warm blanket on a chilly night. The home is large and spacious with plenty of light. It overlooks the St Joe Bay with plenty of wildlife in the area. We saw deer, eagles, hawks and heard several owls in the evening hours. We loved how bright the stars are at night. We liked our walk to the beach across the street. Bayrock 1 has all the basics we required including high speed internet. Mick was there to greet us and available if we needed any help. We left relaxed and energized. We look forward to our return trip to Cape San Blas and will not hesitate to book Bayrock 1 again.

Holiday on Cape San Blas

We arrived late at night. Our host, Mick, had left the door open and the lights on. Everything was in order, beds were made, the home was clean and smelled fresh. We awoke to a wonderful sunrise over the bay. The early morning light was spectacular. We did a few fishing trips in the area and were pleasantly rewarded with a few fish dinners during our stay. The beach was a short walk to the beach across the street. Our holidays on the Cape was very rewarding and we found the accommodations of Bayrock 1 to be quite satisfactory. We would rebook with Mick in the future. Thanks for all the local information.

Best Cape San Blas Vacation EVER!!

We have been vacationing at Cape San Blas for 15+ years! We have stayed all over the Cape. We decided to stay on the bay side for a change so we could have our boat right outside at our own dock. Bayrock was the best place with the deepest water we have found. Mick is laid back and stays out of your way but quick to fix any problems that might arise. The house is far off the main road so no traffic noise and located close to great fishing grounds. The house is huge and we happen to be there last year when tropical storm Colin rolled thru with high winds and inches of rain. Because of the structure of that house we felt very safe and secure. Would not consider renting anywhere else on the bay. Looking forward to it again this spring. See ya then Mick.

We Love Bayrock

My kids love Bayrock 1. They love getting in the bay chasing crabs and exploring. I liked being able to sit out on the porch and not worrying about what they were up to. The home has a perfect location being just across the street from the beach. We strolled over to the beach and walked the edges looking for cool shells and enjoying the wonder surf. Cape San Blas is such a clean and natural habitat. I hope it never changes but we see new houses going up on the beach side but not so much on the Bay side. Hopefully we can come back to Bayrock in the future and enjoy the natural serenity and habitat. Inside bayrock is nice too with oodles of room to relax. The beds are comfy. The bathrooms are spacious and I liked the living and kitchen space being combined. There is a large gaming area upstairs with billiard table, games table, computer desk, hifi and cable TV. There is also a stereo system we plugged our phones into and played our favorite music. The dome has terrific acoustics. We had a wonderful time. Mick is a great host having the home open and waiting on us when we arrived. Everything went as smooth as butter on a warm day. Had a great time and hope to come back.

Bayrock 1 on Cape San Blas

We thought looking at Bayrock 1 online what a cool house. My kids couldn't wait till we got there. There expectations were met when we drove down the drive and saw the outline of the home. Inside the entire house is made of concrete. It was totally indestructible. I was surprised how clean the air was inside. Mick explained it was the most effective house option for anyone with allergies. The home was clean and ready for us when we arrived. We all loved the layout of the home. There is so much space to relax in or to find a private corner somewhere away. The kids liked the dock and checking out all the ocean life in the bay. The beach is conveniently located across the street. We used our car to go back and forth but next time we will bring our bikes. We were happy renting Bayrock 1. Mick was available if we needed anything and happy to share local information with us. I can recommend renting Bayrock 1.

The Cape Retreat

Have been going to Cape San Blas since I was a child. The beach side has changed a lot over the years. I use to stay on the beach side until I discovered how quiet and relaxing staying on the Bayside is. This is the second time we have stayed in Bayrock 1. Our group really got use out of the pool table upstairs. It was a nice addition to the home. The internet was fast compared to other places and the ability to get on Netflix was nice when we were winding down for the evening. We could all sit around and watch a movie together. This year we tried fishing but only had limited luck. Mick told us there was a red tide last winter that devastated the aquatic life and all but wiped out the scalloping season. News is the Fish and WIldlife Department reseeded the scallops in the Bay so next year is hopefully back to normal. We still enjoyed ourselves regardless. The home overall was very satisfactory. The second frig on the porch was an added convenience for our group especially since we ended up spending quite a but of time on the porch. We will continue returning to the Cape each year and likely stay at Bayrock 1 again especially if we plan on returning during Scallop Season as Bayrock 1 has the Best Location on the Cape for enjoying both the Bay and the Beach. Thanks Mick and look forward to seeing you again next year.

Relaxing Holiday on Cape San Blas

I am so glad for a friend's recommendation to visit Cape San Blas. In the past I had visited Panama City Beach Florida but as I get older my need for peace, quiet and less stress has become precedent in my life. A friend recommended Cape San Blas which I am so grateful for. The next best discovery after Cape San Blas was the Zen House Bayrock 1. Cape San Blas is a laid back relaxing atmosphere and Bayrock 1 is like a monastic retreat on Cape San Blas. It overlooks the serene Cape San Blas Bay. The home is full of positive energy and helps one connect with the natural surroundings. There is natural landscaping all around with birds singing in the surrounding live oak trees. I was fascinated by the small lizards that are constantly zooming around the perimeter of the home. The weather was ideal and most of our time was spent meditating on the dock and on the porches. It is so special to hear natural sounds versus man made sounds. Inside the home the upstairs is acoustically phenomenal functioning just like an amphitheater. This was a special location for our meditations. We were renewed physically, mentally and spiritually after our time on Cape San Blas and in Bayrock 1. My thanks to Mick for creating such a special retreat. I recommend anyone seeking a place to meditate and reconnect with Nature to schedule a visit to Cape San Blas and Bayrock 1.

Had a great vacation experience

Arrived at Bayrock and Mick was there to greet us and answer any questions we had about the home and the area. The home location is ideal having the dock just steps from the home and a beach access park directly across the street. We had reservations about going to the beach and needing to use facilities but there are excellent facilities in the beach park along with picnic tables, playground, shower and covered sitting area. The weather could not have been better. The parking was convenient and secure by the home. Mick said there was no need to lock up and we felt very secure during our stay. The home is exceptionally roomy and comfortable. Inside and being all concrete makes it quite amazing. The kitchen and living area are combined which made for easy dining and fluid conversations. There is a gaming area upstairs with TV, DVD, Internet and Pool table for the younger generation. The home was clean when we arrived. The bedrooms each had attached full bathrooms which was a must for our group. The handicap accessible bathroom on the main floor was nice for older folks with knee pain. Based on the responsiveness and friendliness of Mick, the convenient location of the home and overall enjoyment of our vacation we rated the home high and we will certainly stay here again when we return to the cape.

The location of this home is the most ideal among all Cape San Blas Properties. The bay access is the deepest for boating with a long dock. The beach access park is directly across the street with a large state property park about a 1000 feet further on making the beach very secluded. The water is clear and pristine with plenty of wildlife. If you want to be surrounded by natural beauty and solitude then this is the best choice and still be able to visit all the modern restaurants, stores and beaches.

What makes this property unique

Most unique benefit of vacationing at Bayrock is the serenity, abundance of birdlife and opportunity to spot an eagle, see a bobcat walk by, fish from the dock, see porpoises at the beach, catch tarpin in the bay or do nothing at all. The Cape is a sanctuary for wildlife. Oh yes the Cape Palms Park beach access park is directly across the street.
