About this property
"Old Pine" Rustic Waterfront Cabin w/ Outdoor Tub #CabinVibes
Our perfect getaway is now on VRBO! You're in for a treat with our family’s rustic waterfront cabin dubbed "home away from home" by our many repeat guests.
You’ll love the privacy of the surrounding trees, the cozy couch, and comfy beds. But guests agree that nothing is better than the 180 degree water views and the outdoor bathtub! Water activities (SUP and kayaks available), hiking, and beach combing... Whether you’re seeking solo reflective time, family time, or a romantic getaway, you’ll find yourself wanting to return here.
There is a "locals" only entrance to Tolmie State Park at the end of our dead-end street for easy-to-moderate nature hikes. You can enjoy beach combing and magical views of Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier at low tide, and enjoy dining and shopping in our state's capital, as the cabin is just 15 minutes drive from downtown Olympia.
Once you are on Sandy Point Beach Road, keep an eye out for herons, migrating ducks, and eagles in the marsh before heading up the hill to our property. This is a bird-watcher's paradise!
Look for the big red mailbox with the row-boat-flower-bed marking our driveway. Parking is available anywhere on the gravel parts of the driveway or under the carport. The lockbox code will be sent with your confirmed reservation.
The space
The addition is newly furnished to host up to 5 guests: All guest access the Main house which has a bedroom and office/yoga space, living room with record player and smart TV, fully stocked kitchen, porch with porch swing and telescope, meditation deck, fire pit, hammock for dry days, kayaks and SUPs! For parties of 3 or more, we open up the Addition (Queen bed, twin bed, laundry and work area).
Once you settle in, watch for bald eagles flying by daily over the Sound, or an occasional seal. The whole property is yours to explore!
With newly improved beach access and a meditation deck --- you can enjoy coffee with a view or keep track of the tide charts for some fun beach combing. At low tide, you may see geoduck farmers working the farms on the neighboring beach properties -- in case you are wondering what all the nets or pipes are - just some local shellfish farming! Enjoy walking along the beach on low tides; you may catch a glimpse of Mt. Rainier out to the right.
The house is single story but not very accessible for wheelchairs, with narrow hallways and small bathroom, and we don't have wheelchair-accessible beach access, but Tolmie state park nearby does.
Other things to note:
There are no doors in the main cabin (except the bathroom) , just curtains for the bedroom and office. (Crooked floors don’t like doors. :P )

About the host
Hosted by Jess McKimmie

I'm new to VRBO but have been hosting on AirBB for 10 years. I love creating an environment that feels like home, and I have a comfortable and quirky style.
Why they chose this property
This neighborhood is generally really quiet and private. There is private access to Tolmie State Park trails too! Tons of wildlife (deer, seals, river otters, eagles, herons, ducks and seabirds).
What makes this property unique
The Outdoor Tub is a highlight. Fire Pit (Bring your own wood), hammock, kayaks and SUPs provide for all the entertainment you need. You don't even need to leave except for groceries!
