A Londoner who fell in love with a room and turned it into a home.

I love to see the Guest House enjoyed. It offers a unique and comfortable stay in a quiet town by the beach. Perfect for those who prefer to be far from madding crowd and spend time in a natural tranquil environment in a simple untouristy Mexican town. A great resting place for travellers rather than tourists perhaps.

My favourite place is a fresh water creek that feeds into the ocean. It is a 20 min walk from home and is rarely populated with other people (bar the week ends)It’s the most beautiful swimming spot I’ve ever had the pleasure to swim in.

I garden and am determined to grow the best tasting tomatoes for miles around. It’s challenging but I’m learning and cannot wait for the day when I can offer guests Mozzarella (made from local milk) Basil and Tomatoe salad.

Why they chose this property

I fell for the charm of the architecture of what is now my home. I had never conceived of such a home and “went for it”.

I did not know the town at all I came here for the property then discovered the town and it’s environs after the fact.

The property is hidden behind other properties so it really has a secret garden character., with a BatMan Cave entrance. Giving nothing away of what lies behind. The neighbours act as de facto gate houses and the property is extremely secure and not overlooked at all.

What makes this property unique

The original property comprises 2 buildings: each was just a room around which I built a house. The Guest House room is 7 sided and Adobe. Outside is a roofed wrap around veranda: kitchen, shower, seating area overlooking its own garden

Total privacy, not overlooked, hidden, safe, secure.

I designed the garden to be more like an encampment in a tropical rainforest rather than a domestic garden per se. Mature trees offer shade and attract lots of birds. The property is always 10* degrees cooler than the streets beyond the property. Great breeze.

The rooms are special: beautiful bedrooms with a numinous quality. unique. Each is the heart of the home and inspired my love of the property. As a designer I simply had to have them

Each property is screened off from the other by mature planting and each has their own entrance

My “room “ is 6 sided and around which I built the house: kitchen, sitting room, study. All being under a roof looking out into the garden.

An opportunity to live like this, for a Londoner, only ever having lived in closed boxes over looking other closed boxes, was too tempting. I’m so happy I did. To live like this is a sensual luxury a pleasure and a privilege .
