Stay with us at Chinquapin Gap!

Bring the adventure back to your life ~ the mountains are calling you! Immerse yourself in the beauty of the North Georgia Mountains at this mountain cabin just outside of Dillard, GA and nestled along the banks of beautiful Betty Creek. This 1 private bedroom, 1.5-bath Canadian Hemlock hand hewed cabin with open sleeping loft is all you need for a memorable getaway. Enjoy playing in the creek right out your backdoor, or venture to Tallulah Gorge State Park, raft the Chattooga River, catch your dinner at Andy’s Trout Farm, or enjoy one of the numerous beautiful hikes in the Nantahala Wilderness Area. It's time to unplug and get away from it all! Let Turnstone Cabins be your home away from home!

Turnstone Cabins were built by the family of Ben Parrish, and are owned and operated by the Parrish Family. Along side our Dad, we laid every board, log, and rock with our own hands. Each cabin belongs to one of the Parrish children as a legacy of our Dad. We love opening our homes to guests so that they can share the beauty of the mountain valley we have loved over the past 25 years.

Please see our other listings on VRBO. There are 4 cabins in Turnstone. Our additional cabins are Sassafras Rock (ID 154364), Walnut Falls (ID 924357), and Cherry Bluff (ID 68189).

We are a family oriented property with cabins geared towards a quiet getaway. Any large groups or loud outdoor gatherings are not allowed in an effort to provide all of our guests (and neighbors) the most pleasant experience.

By booking with us, you are agreeing that you and anyone in your party are not experiencing symptoms of COVID 19 upon checking in to our property. We want to protect our guests and staff during this time in the best way possible.

This place isn't real
The lovely little stream behind the cabin gives a soundtrack like no other. And the quaint cabin without any unwanted distractions is furnished enough to be cozy without being fussy. We didn't see another person for three days and literally stayed in our pajamas the entire time. Bliss!! We have stayed here several times and consider this "our cabin". Minus the property taxes!!

Weekend Getaway
The cabin was secluded, but accessible. There is WiFi that works if you need it, but I imagine you’re going there to escape all of that! The owners were responsive and accessing all of the beautiful sights in the immediate area was no problem at all. I highly recommend this location!

Amazing
My husband and I celebrated out 39th Anniversary at the Chinkapin Gap cabin. This is truly an amazing property! The back porch is directly on the mountain stream. It is such a relaxing place to sit and listen to the roar of the water. This is one of the best rentals we have ever stayed in on vacation. We had previously stayed in Cherry Bluff, one of their other cabins and it was just as great. These properties are very clean and have everything you need. We will be return guests for years to come! Thanks so much for sharing your homes!

Smoke-Filled Valley forced us to forfeit 4 days
We are repeat tenants of this property because we love it. This time, controlled forest burns filled the valley with smoke. My wife has smoke-triggered asthma. This forced us to have to vacate the property for our remaining stay. We only stayed one out of five nights booked. Unfortunately for us, we lost all of our money because of this and your cancellation policy.

Inclement Weather
It's no one's fault that a major cold front came through. But it was so cold, the heaters did not do enough to keep the cabin warm. A small fire in the fire place barely kept the living room heated, however, as soon as the winds picked up again, smoke was being blown back through and into the cabin. The smoke alarm went off, we had to introduce more cold air to air out the cabin, I was in the bedroom under blankets while my friend was in the shower unaware smoke was coming in. The front porch froze over from water dripping off the roof and my friend slipped and fell before we received a message from the owner letting us know the front porch can be a hazard. Then a pipe froze and burst, so the was no water. We could not stay another night. We packed up and left early that morning after a frozen night with one more day of our stay left. The place was not in a state of living. I have no complaint other than the customer service was horrible. Again, it was no one's fault about the weather, but I will never be back. If there was, after, informing the owner of all the issues, a refund for the night we could not stay, absolutely! If there was some sort of communication with an oh no! That's terrible! We'd like to do something to help ensure you'll come back. Sure. I would if there was some sort of communication with an apology, I'd at least consider returning, but there was nothing. And this was not all inclement weather. It's the fact these cabins are not designed for freezing weather. So be prepared. Only go during warm weather. Also, do t plan on having a conversation on the back porch without yelling at each other. It may seem enticing to sit that close to running water, but the river is so loud it's bordering on no longer peaceful but obnoxious.

Chinkapin Gap cabin was welcoming and just as described. We loved sitting on the porches and enjoying the rushing waters of Betty's Creek. There is plenty of activities in the area to keep you busy or if you so choose relax and recharge. Turnstone Cabins are owned and operated by the Parrish Family. We are from south Georgia (Statesboro) and love the cooler climate up here in the mountains. We now spend almost all of our time on the property! We enjoy hiking and antique shopping.

Why they chose this property

We were looking for a property that was along a creek and that our guests could access without 4 wheel drive vehicles at any time of the year. We found it right here on Betty Creek in the mountains of western North Carolina ... just 4 minutes from US Highway 441. We developed the property and built our 4 log cabins so that we could share this unique place with others.

What makes this property unique

The sound of rushing water over a large rocky creek and the cool breezes that are always blowing gently makes sitting on the porches real relaxing moments.
