Secluded beach cottage.Clean, with every thing we needed.Very nice property.Loved the trees and the view from the back deck could not be beat.We would like to get back out next fall. The inside shower could use a new shower head assembly is the only item that could be improved on.Alligator Point is a peaceful beach community.
This was our second time at Somewhere in the sun . We love the house and the beach. I would give our stay a 5 star but we arrived on Sunday and a mandatory evacuation came out Monday because of Helene . We left Wednesday morning. Luckily the house came through well. We'll be back next year ,,
We just loved our little house! Probably the most laid back vacation we’ve had in a long time! Having to contend with the weather was not fun but we ate good and relaxed a lot. The dogs loved their beach time, which was a plus! We will be back!
This property was perfect for my husband and me. It offers a quiet beach right outside your back door, The sunsets and dolphin watching from the upper deck were amazing to see. The cottage was perfect for us. We hope to return soon.
It is a comfy cozy, vintage beach house.
It has everything you could possibly need. It is a quite relaxing pet friendly beach. Great for young children, or older folks. Outdoor shower is nice, hot tub super clean, new washer and dryer. If you take pets PLEASE clean up after them whether on the beach or around the out side of the house, if it comes out of your pet, pick it up.
This is our 5th stay and hate to share our secret hideaway with too many since we always want our week! We come with just us and our puppies and have the most relaxing weeks. It’s a cute little Florida cottage and just perfect in every way!
The location of this house is perfect. Right on the beach and the home was clean. The interior and exterior need some TLC. I realize that rental beach houses take a beating. Obviously the pictures on VRBO were taken long ago. The owner, Hugh, was very responsive to our needs.
We did enjoy the hot tub.
This beach house is perfect in every way, I could not have asked for a better place to spend 2 weeks with my dogs. It has everything that you need for a perfect beach vacation. Everything was amazing, the deck, outdoor shower, location, the host, everything. I would go back there next time I want to stay at a beach house.
House is as described. It is one bedroom one bath with a sleeper sofa. We enjoyed our stay and loved the upper deck for sunsets when we weren't on the beach . Love seeing the dolphins 😍
"Somewhere in the Sun" is a miniature nature sanctuary, with songbirds and seabirds, rare white squirrels, and dolphins feeding off the beach every day. The house is set in a patch of native forest, and that plus the tranquility of Alligator Point make this a magical place, perfect for a peaceful getaway. The house is very comfortable for 1-3 people and fully equipped. Just bring your own beach toys and chairs. The owners' love for the house and its setting really shows. If you like quiet and Old Florida natural beauty, you won't be disappointed.
We love this cottage! It is always clean, the kitchen is well stocked and the bed is oh so comfy! The outdoor space is amazing and the location is so serene.
This is a rarity! Being able to find a small house on the beach was such an amazing opportunity and we had a great time. Especially with a young child and a dog it was so great to just be able to pop outside to the beach.
The house is very cute! And the location is excellent. Even though alligator point is rural, you’re very close to the tiki bar and ~15 mins from Angelo’s which is a wonderful seafood restaurant.
A couple of notes if bringing a baby: there is no bath, but we just used the kitchen sink, and the bedroom doesn’t close fully from the rest of the house so just bring a white noise machine (we used the ax in the bedroom) or plan to spend the evening out on the porch or in the hot tub :)
Would fully recommend this place - we had such an amazing stay!!
My wife and I stayed over the 4th of July week and it was an amazing experience. Probably the quietest 4th I've ever had, there were a few fireworks but nothing crazy and nothing noticed very late into the evening. Weather was great house was clean and had everything we needed. The grill and hot tub were a very nice bonus and we absolutely loved the raised deck. We only left the property once for a grocery trip and enjoyed our stay very much. If i had to criticize one thing is the couches are nearing the end of there usefulness and could be replaced. But thats the only thing I could really fault. The house is older and some things aren't brand new but everything works and I would be happy to stay here again.
We loved our stay at Somewhere in the Sun and are already talking about booking again for next summer. Hugh was great. Answered all questions promptly through email and text. Directions to the cottage and instructions pertaining to cottage upon check in were simple and easy to follow. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and cozy perfect for myself, my husband and our little senior dog. We loved the privacy and wonderful ocean views. We spent a lot time on the deck, coffee in the am, cocktails in the pm enjoying the ocean, dolphins, and sea gulls. It’s a pet friendly beach and everyone we encountered seemed friendly. We went to Carrabelle to buy some fresh seafood (wonderful) and loved that little town! We found the kitchen to be adequately stocked for our needs and we enjoyed eating fresh seafood for our entire stay. We had planned to take an outing to Apalachicola but honestly couldn’t give up the beach time. So we’ll save that for next time! Thank you again Hugh for sharing your Somewhere in the Sun.
I stayed at the property April 29-May 6 and the weather was absolutely unbeatable. The selling point of this house for me is the outdoor areas. The porch, raised lookout, hot tub, and outdoor shower were all incredible and everything we could have asked for. I booked this trip for myself, but my dad ended up tagging along and we made it into somewhat of a fishing trip. We paddled the Wakulla River, (highly recommend) fished with Captain Seth Oaks of North Florida Fishing Charters (also recommended), and fished from the shore right in front of the house. From the beach in front of the house I caught a massive Jack Cravelle! Amazing experience! The dolphins were feeding most mornings and were just feet away from us at the shore line. I love coming to Alligator Point specifically for the wildlife. With that being said, I’d encourage anyone to visit St. Mark’s while you’re there. We went twice during our stay - it’s never a regretted outing! My dad slept on the pull out bed in the living room and gave it a good review. While the house is dated and not quite as clean as others that have professional cleaners come in between renters, we had no major complaints - we are there to be outside, not in! I was ready to come back before we were even out of the driveway!
When pulling up in the driveway you could see through the front door all the way to the beach. The house was cozy & the views were gorgeous! If you don't want to get sandy, you could go on the deck & see for miles. We will definitely be back!
Great area as its more of a private stay compared to other parts of Flordia. It was nice being directly on the beach and we loved the raised platform to lounge on. We visited multiple nearby towns that had plenty of places to eat all around a 30 minute scenic drive.
