The Treetops Cottage was as the owners described: perfect location a few minutes from Frankfort for those last-minute groceries, Kilwin's Chocolates, great brewery, wonderful bakery and deli, as well as the public beach at Frankfort. Further up the road is Point Betsie lighthouse, with great viewing for sunsets. A few more miles, and you are at the Platte River, where you can tube, canoe, or kayak to Lk Michigan and then swim where the river meets the lake. In the other direction is the little town of Beulah, fruit farms, an old-fashioned drive-in, and, if you want the city, Traverse City ( we didn't). The road is a bit inclined from the cottage down to Crystal Lake, but we walked it many times with no problem, and explored a tiny bit of the 40 acres of wood mentioned, which were beautiful. The cottage itself is laid out beautifully, with the kitchen open to the living area and very spacious with comfortable furniture. The master bedroom bed is heavenly, and you sleep listening to the wind in the trees ( in a very large bedroom with lots of closet space). The lower level bedroom is great for more guests or family, and downstairs has additional living space! The two bathrooms (our family insists on two!) look recently remodeled and very nice, not like rustic cabins we're used to, with plenty of storage. My only regret is that I never slept in that cute little loft, which I think adults as well as children would love. There were lots of towels and everything we needed. Andi and Jerry were very welcoming and allow a dog, which made our daughter happy. Oh, and go see the alpaca farm on the River Rd.
