About this property

Roma. Perfect place to explore the city. 2 br & private roof terrace! Location!

THE APARTMENT
This Art Deco duplex is 1,100 ft2 and has two bedrooms with double beds, one sofa bed in the living room, one bathroom and an office that opens onto a private roof garden with deck chairs, a hammock and lots of sun (our guests typically cite the terrace is the main reason they picked our place !!). Most of our furniture is restored original mid 20th century. The apartment's high ceilings and wide spaces make it fresh in the summertime, and its multiple windows let in the sunshine during winter. The kitchen is nicely equipped with everything you need to cook. Lots of space and style in the best location!

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Colonia Roma was developed as one of the most elegant places in the city at the beginning of last century. Later on, after the 1910 revolution, the elite moved and colonia Roma became a neighborhood of artists and intellectuals, and has been reevaluated recently because of its location, architecture and flavor. The restaurants, cafés and galleries that have opened during the last few years make of it a must for visitors: this new era of la Roma is very promising! You will be provided with a list of our favorite restaurants in the area so you can make the best use of your time (and hunger), and our recommendations of places to visit in Mexico City.

TRANSPORT
Colonia Roma is strategically located between Polanco, Condesa and downtown, and is not far from the airport (8 miles, the taxi costs about $15 dollars), or from San Angel and Coyoacán. Our duplex is three blocks away from the metrobús at Alvaro Obregón station, 0.2 miles (we will lend you a metrobús card with some money charged). Metrobús will take you in ten minutes to Insurgentes metro station (0.74 miles) which is another 10 minutes from downtown on the pink line; Zócalo is 4 miles from our place. Parque México in Condesa, the perfect place for a morning workout, is five blocks away, or half a mile. Turibús Cibeles station, a double-decker tours company, is half a mile as well. There is a “sitio de taxis” two blocks away and you can also call an Uber.
We have a list of our very special suggestions of places to visit in the city to make your trip unforgetable

2 bedrooms, 2 double beds, 1 couch, 1 bathroom, 1 pack & play crib, towels & linens provided, hair dryer, stove, oven, blender, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, terrace, hammock, many cacti at the roorgarden!

Beautiful home in excellent location
We loved our stay at Las Palomas and didn't want to leave! It is a lovely, spacious home with more than everything we needed - fully equipped kitchen, really comfortable beds, and a roof terrace (our favorite). There are also several delicious cafes and restaurants in walking distance. In addition, Lisi and Luis Manuel provided very helpful recommendations regarding restaurants to visit, things to do in Mexico City, and how to get around. My friends and I would love to stay here again. Thanks so much Lisi and Luis Manuel!

We always wanted to share our passion for colonia Roma and Mexico City, which we keep discovering. Renting our property to foreigners has given us the opportunity to help our guests live as locals and discover what our neighborhood and city have to offer. I am a publicist and have spent the last 18 years in audiovisual production. Luis Manuel works in consulting & real estate, has lived in Spain, France and the United States, and has an MA in international relations from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.

Why they chose this property

I bought this property in the early nineties when the area was really run down and surrounded by warehouses and cheap eateries, and years away from gentrification. The building is from the 1930's but the apartment was not attractive at all, it was just several dark rooms united by a corridor; it had a photomural of the French alps (back then photomurals were not attractive at all).

A friend of mine, who is an architect and became quite famous in the US, build a model in wood and sowed it to me. He suggested to tear down several walls to open up the space and cover a wall with wood, which I did, and the result was beautiful. I lived there for several years, in my late twenties, and loved the place. I got older, married and moved, but the area became pretty fashionable and perfect for a HomeAway property. Sometimes we would like to go back, at least for a weekend ...

What makes this property unique

The roof terrace is such a nice space, with wooden chairs, a hammock, and many cacti we have been collecting from around the country. It is the perfect place to start your day with a cup of coffee or to end it after visiting the city with a drink. Not many other properties will offer this kind of space!
