Nestled in the beautiful Jordan River Valley, this cozy cabin is a writer's dream. Located seven miles from Mancelona, this woodsy retreat provides easy access to hiking, fishing, canoeing, and skiing. Shorts Brewery, and their famous craft beer, is a fifteen minute drive to downtown Bellaire. Traverse City and Petoskey are just forty-five minutes away. Wander the gardens that are part of the small turn-of-the-century farm, or just enjoy the quiet of the north woods. The Jordan River Valley is part of the Mackinaw State Forest and is truly one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in northern Michigan. Its river was the very first to be designated as a wild and scenic river by the Federal government. The Jordan River Pathway provides 18 miles of trails and is part of the North Country National Scenic Trail. Winter note, the fireplace shown in the photo is not operational at this time. There are plans in the works but the heater for the cabin sets in the fireplace space as of now.

This was our second time to Mary's cabin and it was once again perfect in every way. The charm of this property is off the charts. Rustic and beautiful. Peaceful doesn't begin to describe the silence that surrounds you at this perfect up north location.
This cabin was perfect for our stay. It's clean, cozy, and in a good location for enjoying Bellaire, Charlevoix, and Petoskey. The host had a firepit all ready for use, but we didn't have time to enjoy that. We would stay here again!
Mary is an awesome host, the cabin was idyllic for our needs and the property is very beautiful and peaceful. Great location close to nature and nice small towns around. Would love to be back again soon!
We so loved our stay in Mary’s cabin.
It is very peaceful place with beautiful gardens and surroundings. The cabin has everything we needed and more, and she was such a gem to spend a bit of our time with. A new favorite place for us…we’ll be back!!
This cozy little cabin was perfect for us. We wished we had more time to walk the property. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to unplug in a peaceful setting.
Mary is an absolute wonderful host. Her cabin is a quaint and beautiful place to be secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Cabin is conveniently located close enough for day trips to Charlevoix, Boyne City, Petosky, Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, etc. We highly recommend Mary’s cabin.
For us, this was a perfect blend of modern conveniences and old fashioned rustic pioneer life. It was like going back in time to a much simpler, slower time and way of life. Yet it has running water, shower, toilet, stove, oven, and gas logs. We had a wonderful time, and would love to stay there again.
A great place to have alone time without the hustle and grind of the city. No TV means talk with your loved one or read a book. Area isn’t great for walking around in but little towns near the place are.
Nice old cabin near a farm house and barn out in the country. The gardens and woods offer a nice walk, the cabin stayed cool inside even when it was 89F outside. All the equipment worked great, nice and comfortable. A+

Beautiful, peaceful, friendly proprietor.
What perfect way to spend a cozy winter weekend! We fell in love with this little cabin the moment we stepped inside. It was everything we were looking for and much more! Mary is the best, so welcoming and friendly. The cabin was warm and inviting and kept us toasty warm even when the outside temperature dipped down to -22 degrees. We just left this morning and I'm already planning our next visit.
The cabin is exactly as pictured, super charming. It was just the two of us, my son and myself so it wasn't too small. The sofa has a pull out bed, which is what my son used and said it was very comfortable. All the kitchen utensils and supplies that we needed were there, as well as plenty of towels and blankets. There's no AC but the cabin stayed cool. The location is ideal if you are interested in doing all the up north things. We did Mackinac Island, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City and Charlevoix. There's also a great nature reserve for hiking right up the road. Mary was a great host, very communicative and nice. This place is a great value.
Our stay was amazing! Mary is such a natural at hosting and was enjoyable to visit with her for a bit.
The cabin was really clean and no signs are vermin at all - which is amazing for a structure of that age. The kitchen is vry well stocked which was so nice since we planned to eat all of our meals in.
We did quite a bit if hiking around the river valley, but mostly wanted to just hang out at the cabin and chill together celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. Being we had nothing scheduled, we love that there was no clock staring at us. Would definitely recommend this great little spot.
We rented the cabin for our 38 wedding anniversary. Enjoyed the peace and quiet of this quaint cabin. Mary does a wonderful job with thus little getaway retreat.
Love the rustic nature of the property. Felt like home, I am originally from the UP. Certainly enjoyed no cell service & the solitude. Mary is a great host & her property is beautiful. Thank you for a great 3 days.
There were no surprises with this property, as the owner accurately described everything. It was charming, rural, rustic, yet had everything we needed. We stayed when it was very cold yet the heat system kept up with no problems. There are many things to do and see in the small towns around the cabin, so we went antiquing because even with proper gear, it was too cold to snowshoe. This was a perfect place for my boyfriend and I to spend our pre-valentine weekend. We hope to return again and again.
