About the host

Property purchased in 1997 with updated architectural design and 100% new construction competed in 2000. It has been a full-time summer family residence since, and only now just available for outside lease rental.
Why they chose this property
We are long term "River Rats". My husband grew up in Thousand Island Park in a family cottage that is still in the family today. As a child, he always dreamed of owning a unique property on one of the islands he spent so much time exploring. We both grew up boating and with a love of fresh water. As a child, one of the family dogs was adopted from Grindstone Island at Potter's Beach on a Boating trip exploring the island. Fast Forward forty years and here we are. We have meticulously and lovingly cared for the property and the home in every way. From the blooming gardens that are freshly planted each season, to the groomed lawn, and the newly widened access road to explore all that Grindstone Island has to offer. We love going to the little church on Grindstone on Sundays. There is a wonderful, welcoming community of people here that we call our friends and you are sure to call friends after a week here too! The community activities on Grindstone is what drew us here and also what keeps us here. While you are on an island, there is more to do than just be on the water. Every Saturday night, there is a square dance at the Community Center across from the church in the center of the island. Lots of people from other islands venture over to Grindstone for the event. It is always a good time.
What makes this property unique
The location of this property is one of the finest on the River! We have incredible privacy with true island living, but we also have a short, easy boat ride to Clayton for Breakfast or lunch at Bella's, some afternoon shopping and a latte a the Lyric cafe. We hope you will love it as we do and enjoy the property. This is especially unique and this property has never been available as a vacation rental before!
