Located in Pinkham Notch at the base of Mt Washing and Tuckerman Ravine, Joe Dodge Lodge is operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club, the country’s oldest recreation and conservation organization. Staying at Joe Dodge will provide opportunities to hike, ski, and climb out your front door. Your stay supports the AMC’s ongoing conservation efforts.
This 4-person private room holds a king sized bed, a bunkbed, a bench and a bureau. A shared bathroom with showers is located down the hall. Bedding and towels are provided. The Lodge has a living room with a propane stove insert, comfortable sitting areas and well as tables. The library in the lodge is similarly accommodated with a variety of books and magazines to read while visiting. Cell service is poor but there is internet available on campus.
Your stay includes a breakfast buffet in the Trading Post a short walk from the Lodge. Dinner can be purchased ahead of time and lunches can be purchased ahead of time or upon your arrival. Lunches are bagged and provided immediately after breakfast to be taken on your hike, ski or other adventure for the day. Alcohol is not sold on site and a responsible byob policy is allowed.
Your stay also includes access to our free gear library. This includes items such as snowshoes, hiking poles and backpacks. You may take these on your adventures during your stay with us and return them when you depart. You can inquire about using these items upon check-in
A number of trails of varying degrees of difficulty depart from Joe Dodge Lodge such as the Tuckerman Ravine Trail, Old Jackson Road, Lost Pond Trail and Square Ledge. In the winter these trails are tracked out and can be travelled with snowshoes. Additionally, the John Sherburn Ski Trail ends it run at Joe Dodge Lodge and is accessed by the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. Various other ski touring trails run through the notch around Joe Dodge Lodge. Wildcat Ski Area and Great Glen Trails offer excellent alpine and Nordic skiing respectively only a five minute drive from Joe Dodge. Joe Dodge also puts you between the excellent mountain biking trails of Coos Trails in Gorham and MWV Trails in North Conway.
Our staff is knowledgeable about local recreation opportunities and point you in the right direction for hiking trips, fishing spots, ski tours and great locations to spot local flora and fauna on land and on the water. Natural history presentations are often offered on site as well.
There is a meeting space available to rent if you have a larger group that would like to have a space set aside.
