About this property

Cotttage Core on Keuka

About this space
Architectural gems from a by-gone era, modern day fixtures and amenities combine in an elegant board and batten cottage with screened in porch on a hillside overlooking Keuka Lake in the gorgeous Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. The space
There are 5 stone steps up to the gravel pathway that leads up to the cottage. There are another 7 steps up to the screen door that accesses the screened in porch. The sliding door on the screened in porch allows access into the main room of the cottage. Directly ahead, through French doors is the main bedroom with a king bed and windows overlooking the lake. To the left is the kitchen with windows on all sides that overlook the lake. To the right is a pocket door leading to a small hallway, off which are 3 doors, one to the second bedroom with a double bed, another to the bathroom with subway-tiled walk-in shower, and the third to the storage room with second refrigerator, stacked washer and dryer, and fold-up cot for extra guests. The cottage sits up above the East Lake Road and has beautiful views of the lake. Access to the deck and dock and 46 feet of lake frontage is via a set of 17 steps across the road from the cottage.
Guest access
The entire cottage with 2 bedrooms, a full bath, and storage space, the screened in porch, the brick patio to the rear of the screened in porch where the Webber grill is located, and lake frontage is available for guest use.

I grew up outside of Mansfield PA, but spent most Sundays at one or the other set of grandparents — who both lived not far from the lake. My mom spent summers at the lake with her cousin. She brought my brothers and me to the lake. And I brought my children here for summer vacations. We shared the lake with family and friends. Having our own cottage is a truly a dream come true.

Why they chose this property

The view of the lake from the porch never gets old.

What makes this property unique

We had to tear down the original cottage and it broke my heart. I had always wanted an old Keuka cottage. I was determined to build a new cottage with just as much character as the old. We salvaged the old knotty pine from the original cottage and traveled as far as north of Lake George in the Adirondacks to source more old knotty pine. The walls in the main room, small hallway and main bedroom are knotty pine. I found a French door that had been taken out of a house built in the 30’s. So much vintage charm — with lots of modern amenities — as demonstrated by all the photos — especially those of the kitchen and bath.
