Great Stay
Perfect setting for a couple to relax and explore Eleuthera from. Cottage had everything we needed and we spent a lot of time enjoying the deck and water below the cliff. Very private setting but convenient to Gregory town which has most of the basics you need. Would come back!

Would come back to Eleuthera just to stay at this property one more time! Probably one of the best rental properties we ever stayed at! Thank you, Daniel and Philip!

Loved it!
We just departed from our week at the Sea Cliff cottage. If you like an amazing view in a very private setting, this place is for you. Photos look amazing but you really need to be there to appreciate the beauty of the entire setting. We had a nice breeze the entire time we were there. We would wake up early, turn the A/C off, open all the doors and windows. Even though it was in the upper 80’s we never needed to turn the A/C on during the day because how open the cottage is to the sea breeze. The caretaker, Phillip, is a super nice gentleman that we appreciated getting to know. He was available for anything we needed. We also loved the location of Gregorytown. It’s the perfect spot between Harbour Island and Spanish wells to the North and Governor’s Harbour to the south. Gregorytown was especially nice having two of the beaches we enjoyed the most right there, Lovers beach and Surfers beach. We were the only people on both beaches while we were there. If you’ve never visited any of the Bahamas out islands be sure to rent a car, preferably a 4x4. This allows you to get to some of the most remote beaches with no problem. Plus, you’ll be able to take in the overall beauty of the entire island. I highly encourage you to consider staying at the Sea Cliff cottage. We’re already looking at our calendar to see when we can go back.

Secluded Gem!
Sea Cliff Cottage was a fabulous place to stay for some peace and quiet and it had an incredible view! It was the prefect spot to come back to after exploring the island. There are so many breathtakingly beautiful beaches to see! Dan was an excellent host and Philip, the caretaker was so kind and very helpful. If you are looking for adventure and a break from the crowds, this is your place!

Met my every expectation and then some. I love the simplicity and the natural beauty of this island, and the Sea Cliff Cottage was an amazing home base. The cottage is well appointed and the views are truly awesome. The island people are incredibly friendly. There are many interesting day trips, breathtaking beaches, and wonderful restaurants. If you are looking for glitz and glamour, look elsewhere, but if you are a naturalist at heart, you will not be disappointed!

Amazing!
I had an absolutely amazing time here! We stayed for our honeymoon and couldn't have been any happier. The view is gorgeous! We would recommend to anyone who wants to get away from your daily life to come here. The place is pretty secluded which is exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed jumping of the cliff and snorkeling around that area. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful.

Privacy with Great Views!
This small cottage was perfect for the two of us. My husband and I enjoyed waking up to the crashing waves on the bluff below, having our morning coffee on the deck as we watched for sea turtles, and exploring the many pink sand beaches in the area. This is a true gem!

A Gem
This property is absolutely stunning and picturesque. It was clean and homey, with a comfortable bed (albeit a bit low to the ground). The Wi-Fi worked very well, as did all the appliances. Communication with the property owner Daniel was excellent. The caretaker Philip was exceptionally kind as well, going out of his way to help us out.

Spectacular retreat!!
I stayed for 4 nights with my 2 kids and it was absolutely fantastic!! The house is small but works great for a couple or in our case dad and 2 kids. The deck overlooking the cliff and ocean below is magical. At all times of day we could spot sea turtles below and the kids absolutely loved jumping off the platform into the sea 20’ below :). The owner is great and very communicative… oh and is a great artist too!

Stunning
We had such a wonderful experience at this cottage for our anniversary week. The owner was fantastic in his communication. The snorkeling off the back down the ladder was fun as saw many sea turtles in the mornings. Recommendation, rent a small SUV. We used Wilton and he was wonderful wwtcarrental@hotmail.com. We had so many adventures and absolutely loved Eleuthera.

Great for two
The wife and I spent 4 nights in early May. The location was great with easy access to services and all on North Eleuthera’s beaches and attractions. The cottage is great, perfect for two. We really liked the deck and outside shower. It’s really private and view is amazing complete with regular sea turtle sightings. Access to the water is not for everyone but that’s ok. Overall it was a great experience and we would stay again.

Peaceful and Great View
My wife and I have stayed on Eleuthera two times prior to this visit in VRBO homes. We have had great VRBO experiences and love the island and people of Eleuthera. We often joke about not giving positive reviews about the island because one of the many things we love is that it is a bit off the grid and unknown to people. It is not for everyone, if you are looking to be pampered and have people serve you Eleuthera is not your type of place, but if you are looking to visit beautiful beaches where you will not see another person and met "real people and relax it might be a good fit. Over the years, we have debated on staying at Sea Cliff Cottage and have stayed in other parts of Eleuthera. We have loved our past visits, and Sea Cliff Cottage was as wonderful as any place we have stayed. It is what I would call a "well appointed rustic cottage". The open air and full view of the ocean from within the cottage when the periwinkle doors are open is breathtaking/relaxing. We sat for hours on couch looking at the ocean and relaxing on the deck reading books. Waking up in the morning with a cup of coffee or enjoying a cocktail in the evening, opening the doors and enjoying the ocean breeze and warm sun is an unbelievable way to start/finish your day. Dan the owner was great answering questions leading up to our visit, helping us with the car rental and also responding to questions during our visit. The picture of the house do not captivate the experience you will have.

We stayed at Sea Cliff Cottage for our first trip to Eleuthera Island. Daniel's cottage is wonderful. The view is incredible! The cottage is perfect, everything is provided for a comfortable stay. It was such fun being able to access the water right there off the cliff at the cottage!

Cute little cottage in a postcard perfect location
Communication with owner was great, communication with Phillip was quite difficult. We didn’t switch our phones to international and he never replied to any messages in WhatsApp. Views are amazing, saw the sea turtles every day. Some of the best snorkeling is right there along the cliffs. Bed is comfortable but a larger night table would be great and brighter lights for reading would be even better since no TV. Kitchen is well stocked but a microwave would be awesome to make reheating food easier. Love the outdoor shower and the chaise lounges. Would definitely stay again.

Magical
This was my 2nd time to stay at this property. I love how private it is…yet Gregory Town is a 5 minute drive away. I love the outdoor shower and the doors that open up onto the deck that provide the most amazing view you can imagine. Not only is the ocean view spectacular but the spectrum of colors reflecting off of the water and the cliffs as the day passes and the jaw dropping sunsets are not to be missed. And then, the starlit sky…indescribable. The house itself is very cozy and decorated with the owner’s amazing artwork…very much an amped up beach cottage vibe. I love this place. I will return. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. It’s magical…truly.

Paradise
My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary at Daniel’s perfect cliff side gem. Previous reviews are correct in that photos do not do it justice. The views are spectacular and the unique colors of the water change by the minute. The cottage is very well equipped and we rarely had to use the ac because of the steady breeze off the water. Exploring the island is an adventure and even the most unassuming, unmarked road often leads to yet another breathtaking beach or natural vista. We met many wonderful islanders, all very welcoming, helpful and kind and we thank them for making our vacation such a memorable one. And thanks to Daniel for letting us share your remarkable place.

Fantastic!
We loved our stay at Sea Cliff Cottage. The property exceeded our expectations. We were delighted with how clean and uncluttered the property was. The interior space was so well done for such a simple cottage. And the fresh cut flowers spread around the space on our check-in day added such a special touch. Just perfect! Of course the highlight of the property is the view and access to the water for swimming. We saw turtles every day. We just loved it!

Can't get closer to the water
We loved this cottage on the cliff. We originally thought our stay would be just my husband and I, but due to a snafu it turned into five (5!) of us. Daniel was wonderfully accommodating and a gracious host. The view is breathtaking. Every moment we could, we stood at the railing and watched the activity in the water below. The sunsets were amazing. Thanks for the memories.

Cabin by the sea with an unbelievable view
This place was one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed. The views are unbelievable. We watched turtles everyday from the deck swimming in the water. We saw dolphins swim pass. We spent most of our time out on the deck relaxing and watching the sea life. The house it self had everything we needed. We enjoy cooking so we made many meals in the kitchen. It’s a great place to decompress. Its secluded which is a huge plus. Its a great place for 2 people. Your place is amazing, thank you

Sea Cliff Cottage Review
We stayed 34 nights at Sea Cliff from Jan. 14 to Feb. 17, 2022. Sea Cliff Cottage is exactly that..., it is a cottage, which means it lacks some of the comforts that come with renting a home. It has a large deck overlooking the Sound (Caribbean side) with beautiful & ever changing sunsets and sea turtles & rays swimming by daily. There is a platform for an invigorating leap into the sea. The cottage itself has a cool & funky open air design that reflects Daniel’s artistic talents. Floor to almost ceiling shutters open to create a one with nature concept. High Seas is also conveniently close to Gregory Town for supplies. Cool shutters during the day immediately become an issue at dusk as they must to closed to keep the bugs out, thus creating a “shut-in” feeling at night. The beds mattress is throughly worn out and the bedding was a worn out combination of mismatched over & undersized sheets and blankets. In Summary, High Seas Cottage satisfies those seeking a unique ocean front “cottage type stay”, but lacks some of the comforts and amenities that more “home type properties” so may be more conducive so shorter stays!

Nothing more was needed at Sea Cliff
Sea Cliff is all that the photos suggest - and the reality is even better. A unique and amazing place with a lot of attention to visual detail. The architecture frames the landscape while conveying a sense of always being outdoors, with wonderful views from the deck and from lower down the cliff as well. We enjoyed swimming and snorkeling off the ladder with visits by birds, tiny lizards, turtles, and fish. Two weeks of incredible weather and we only scratched the surface of the island. The 180 degree view of the horizon and the vast dome of the night sky…we had front row seats for the conjunction of Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and the crescent Moon in the early evening and later a few Geminid meteors. Daniel provided great info and suggestions for our stay. There was nothing more we needed - except more time. We look forward to returning.

Amazing Location and Views
We absolutely loved our stay at Seacliff Cottage. It was a very secluded/private location with the most amazing views. It's in a great location to explore the island both North and South. We made day trips to both Harbour Island and Spanish Wells and thoroughly enjoyed both. The cottage pretty much had everything you would need for a great stay. A few things that we would have appreciated as guests would be drawers in the bedroom vs living out of our suitcases for 9 days, a lightweight blanket or bedspread vs the single sheet on the bed which was not warm enough. It rained most nights and was a bit cool. We did not use the AC the entire time we were there. Lastly would be lamps that you could read by. The entire place did not have any lighting you could read by. With the sun setting so early and most nights it was raining, we were forced to come indoors very early. While the amber colored Edison bulbs in the lamps put off a nice glow they were not enough to read by so we were forced to stare at our phones all night :( All in all a great place with great host!

Host profile image
I am Daniel Caldwell an artist paintings in oils. The Bahamas has been a wonderful muse for my work for over 25 years now. I have built this home as part of the inspiration for my work. I also paint there and share time with my wife Liz our 3 kids William,Lizzie, and Chris . We all and love Eleuthera, the island life and to surf, sail ,dive ,and fish.

Why they chose this property

Eleuthera is rich in art history.... American Master Winslow Homer painted here 100 years ago and many wonderful artist have followed suit. The island ,offers pristine natural beauty ,laid back and friendly Bahamian culture as well as a new twist ...the surfer / artist culture which evolved in Gregory Town over the last 50 years. This culture keeps great vibe going for those who get it. I will admit it's not for everyone....I've grown to love it and pinch myself to be part of this season in the islands history.

What makes this property unique

Remote quite , minimal simpler way of life , pristine beauty, fun surf on occasion. Plenty of social life or not.
