About this property
Riverclay Studio, a home base to enjoy Mount Vernon and Skagit Valley and More!
Riverclay Studio was once the home of the Riverclay Studio Pottery and Gallery. We now share our little out-of-the-way spot with guests.
It is reached by the back stairs to a landing, on an alley which is used by many businesses. The building is part of historic Mount Vernon, dating back to 1900. the 450 sq ft space is all old brick and rough-cut lumber rafters, redesigned in industrial chic. It has one window that looks out at the alley and is brightly lighted inside. There is a fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) and bath with a walk-in shower.
The kitchen counter has two chairs for dining. There are also two TV trays.
The Living space has sofa, two chairs, ottoman and TV with internet access that can connect to your streaming services. There is a full set of drawers, a closet, and a workspace for computer or study. The queen bed is comfortable with extra blankets and pillows.
Note that the Studio is appointed for two, we have had a parent and minor come and stay for participation in soccer tournaments every year. However, the space is not safe due to stairs and lack of childproofing, for small children.
Designated Riverclay Studio parking is below the stairs. The space is adequate for most cars but not trucks or larger vehicles. There is street parking, limited for 3 hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO KNOW
There is a business downstairs that is a wine shop and eatery. We have tried in many ways to no avail to soundproof the floor. Therefore, during business hours voices can be heard from below. Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. there is a popular Wine Tasting event that attracts many locals and visitors. Business hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. THE PROPRIETOR OFFERS A 10% DISCOUNT TO RIVERCLAY STUDIO GUESTS!
Guests have described Riverclay Studio as a wonderful home base to explore.
Historic Downtown Mount Vernon is a great place to just hang out as well. We have many varied dining options, including Tacos and Tequila, Thai, traditional Italian, Detroit-style pizza, Indian, Korean BBQ, several Breweries and bakeries, coffee & espresso, and a cocktail bar'
One of the jewels of the Downtown is the Skagit Valley Co-op, and also the new Skagit Valley Larder, both are spots that are popular with the locals, and charm visitors to our town.
Art is also a focus of the Downtown, with studios and hands on opportunities. Gifts and antiques are not the limits of this exciting area.
The Annual Tulip Festival, Skagit Highland Games, Brewfest, Summer Concert Series in the Park, Farmers' Market and the Historic Lincoln Theater are just a few of Riverclay Studio's local attractions.
Outside of Mount Vernon Skagit Valley is the gateway to many adventures including the annual Festival of Family Farms (all of Skagit Valley and up river), La Conner, Anacortes, the San Juan Islands (via Washington State Ferries), Deceptions Pass Bridge, Whidbey Island and Whidbey Naval Air Station, Chuckanut Drive and Bellingham's Fairhaven District, and all the communities up the Skagit River, and the North Cascades National Park.
Downtown Mount Vernon is a wonderful community. It was fun to live there back in the day, and now we can share that fun with you!
