The resort retreat of a lifetime awaits at this 3-bedroom, 2-bath Rothbury vacation rental! Your rustic cabin is nestled in the heart of the Double JJ Resort, where action and adventure are just around the corner. When you aren’t exploring the indoor waterpark, tubing hill, or rodeo, head out to beaches and sand dunes in the area! The cabin invites 10 guests to cozy up on the front porch, beside the fireplace, or in the jacuzzi tub, before gearing up for another exciting day on the ranch! Heads up, we are a privately owned cabin within the resort running on a community well, so there is an odor. Have no fear! We upkeep and treat with water softener, but it is something that we aren’t able to completely eradicate.

Weekend at the waterpark

Nice place to stay for the weekend with two families of four. As noted, the water has a strong sulfur smell, which was ok for us. But, it would have been nice to have a Brita pitcher or some other filter for drinking water. We brought bottled water, which worked, but not as eco-friendly. Waterpark is a 5 min drive from the cabin- not a walk. It is 2.5 miles one way. Cabin is situated in a campground, but off to one side where are are other cabins. Couple of notes: Cabin sits next to a tennis/basketball court that has a bright light that shines in the back windows all night. Black out curtains in the bedrooms would certainly help. Second bedroom with a double bed is ok/ but pretty rough mattress and bed springs. The kitchen is well stocked, with the exception of only having one pan for frying that was large enough/not rusted. Plenty of dishes, glassware, silverware and cooking utensils.

Great stay

A great place to stay, close to a lot of fun activities to do with a young family. The water was our only issue, however we knew that before going, we appreciate that. We would stay again.

Short stay

Overall we enjoyed our stay, well water smells horrible, but it works. My mom wanted a fly swatter but none was found and the clicker to TV need replaced, but all in all I'm perfectly happy with the booking.

Family getaway

This cabin was perfect for our family’s getaway. It was clean, spacious and close to the pool and playground. The amenities were perfect and our children loved the loft area! We will definitely be staying here in the future!

Perfect size for what we needed. The community setup was not what we expected but worked out. The cable/satellite was non existent. Plenty of activities to keep the kids busy. We would go back.

The stay was amazing. Owner really nice. The only issue with check in was I did not get last msg because I was in route and had no connection/internet. The loft upstairs is amazing. Please run the water first. It is well water.

It was okay.

We came in right after the ssnow storm. So there was snow on the ground. There was no path way leading up to the property which was a little frustrating. Be sure to check messages about check in information VRBO information is different that owner information which thus made it a slight issue. Once we got In it looks fine. Upon closer look it appears it's not upkept as nice as it seemed. Several bulbs were blown out. Dusty and had cobwebs. Extremely hard water. 3 nights with 6 people and we didn't have nearly enough bathroom linens. Kitchen had all the basics expect a washcloth or sponge to do dishes Had access to a Broom but no dust pan. Internet connection is very poor to point of unable. Would not have been able to enjoy TV had we not had our hotspot Smoke decectors needed batteries changed and some were missing. We did enjoy the accept to the back forty Zipline and play ground. We enjoyed having snow on the ground since we don't get nearly enough were we came from. Loved having access to double jj resort being just up the road. Would have been amazing had it not been for the minor inconveniences.

Cute cabin terrible water

While the cabin was quaint and cozy I would not stay here again. The space was very nice. Plenty of room for the 6 adults that stayed. However, my two knocks on the property are that the water smelled like sulfur to the point of gagging while brushing my teeth and you could hear every little movement in the entire cabin. I’m so glad we left the kids with Grandma or no one would have been able to sleep in the cabin. I hope the water smell of the water was just from not running the water as much in the “off” season. It was very off putting. Had we known we would have packed extra water but there was nothing written about this anywhere. Even just a heads up that “we’re on a well that has an odor” would have been better. All in all it was a successful trip but we will stay else where in the future.

Great fall getaway

We had a beautiful weekend at the cabin. It was a perfect fit for our group. Kids all slept in the loft and loved hanging out up there! The property was beautiful and quiet. The cabin is a great location for walking to the playground area as well. I would only say to update the listing that the bed in second room is not a queen, definitely just a double.

Very nice cabin. I would definitely go back,The only thing is the bed sheets were not clean

There was a few issues that I addressed with the owner that needed looking into & she's taking care of. The bed sheets was not clean. I had to go get detergent & hand wash them. We didn't like the thought of only 1 fitepit to share because the other families used it so my family never had a change to make smores or sit by the fire. It could have used a curtain or shade on the front door for privacy but we're used a towel over the door. 😂 All being said it was a very nice cabin & I would recommend it. Our grandkids loved it & close to alot.

Very relaxing cabin experience

This property was exactly what we needed and were hoping for, for our trip. It was clean and the location was amazing. Two things could’ve been useful however, a fly swatter and a broom! 😊 Other than that, no complaints!

The resort at 1 time I am sure was amazing...not so much any more. 1 store in the back 40 was open,the putt putt was only 1/2 air conditioned,the outdoor water park was closed and the indoor water park was not discounted. If all you want to do is hike then go for it.

Family Wedding Weekend!

Everyone enjoyed their stay at the cabin. Area was great and location was very close to venue. Would stay there again. Owner should inform guests about the sulfur smell of the water.

Overall it was a good stay. It was nice having a/c and two bathrooms.

We had plenty of room, however, the beds in the loft were not very comfortable for tall/large adults. The jet tub was a bonus. The dishwasher did not work and some of the pans were dirty. We had seven people and only six chairs. It would have been nice to have a couple folding chairs. The most unpleasant thing about our stay was the smell of the water. I realize there is not much you can do about it. I would come back. Thanks for a nice stay.

Nice cabin

I had a great time here with friends. The property owner was flexible and great when I had a situation come up and they let me change my reservation dates. The water does smell but I grew up with well water and as long as you go there knowing that is an issue then you are fine. There is a ton to do around here :)

I'd like to say thanks to a great host! Your property is well maintained and was clean on arrival. We are very particular about cleanliness of our accommodations -especially the bed linens, towels, kitchen and bath areas. Our rental did not disappoint. We are first time VRBO users and the overall experience was excellent. The directions to the site were spot on and this property - in our opinion has the BEST location. There are no campers or neighbors behind you or across the road so it's quiet with little traffic. It's closest to the frontier town, pool and sports court. It seems the common area shared by all the adjacent cottages is larger than some of the other groups of cottages. Kudos for location! We didn't prepare any meals except simple breakfast but the cottage seemed well equipped with dishes, utensils and appliances. They even had paper filters for the coffee maker , ice in the freezer, a small charboal BBQ and a lighter as well as spare batteries for the TV remotes. We didn't use any of the above items but we did have a camp fire on 2 nights. A few tips: We bought a Mainstays brand (Keurig) single cup coffee maker at Wal-Mart for $20. It was a perfect alternative since there are only a few coffee drinkers in the family and less waste. We could not find a kettle in the kitchen so we boiled water on the stove. Worked perfectly. For a single cup of tea or single serve oatmeal, our Keurig brewer worked well for that. The only disappointment was the water quality. Unless you've experienced poor well water, you may not be prepared for how pungent the odor is when running water in the shower or kitchen sink. A quick shower is all we could handle. The host provided spray deodorizer in the bathrooms which did help with the smell after a shower. Even though other reviewers made similar comments, I guess we didn't know quite what to expect. NOTE: This is NOT a negative on this specific property. In asking about others, I was told the entire Back Lot camp ground area is on the same or similar well water so please don't knock this rental. It's common in that area. The hotel on the other section of the resort does not have this water issue. If you are looking for a recommendation on a local restaurant, we were floored by how good and inexpensive the San Marco's Mexican Restaurant in Whitehall (about 12 min away) was. Wow - great dinner - so many leftovers -under $20 a person. Great spot to use as base camp to explore Silver Lake & area!

Not as advertised

I had no issues with the owner, it was condition of the property. Owner completely refunded our money. Although it ruined our vacation that was planned for over 6 months. Grandkids were terribly disappointed. We drove 4 hours and had to return home. Hard to locate a new home to accommodate us. Hope the owner corrects the problems. Have photos of anyone is interested
