Cozy Lake Leelanau Cottage

Located on beautiful South Lake Leelanau, our cozy cottage offers an outstanding family location only steps away from the water. Our cottage has two bedrooms (one queen and one double/twin bunk), one full bathroom, full kitchen and living/dining area. The cottage was fully updated in 2017. We are situated on the beautiful eastern shore of South Lake Leelanau inside West Wind Resort, a wonderful resort on 3.5 acres of secluded property with over 400 feet of waterfront. Each cottage is individually owned and operated and rental options may vary. It's the perfect get-a-way for that dream fishing trip, honeymoon escape or family summer vacation. Our cottage #3 offers 500 square feet of very comfortable living space with fully furnished bedrooms, updated bathroom and shower, living area and a fully functional kitchen. Step outside on to your own patio equipped with seating, picnic table and gas grill. A gazebo awaits you just steps from your patio as well as use of several fire pits on the property. The cottage offers it's own boat dock (allowing up to 22' boat, including motor and platform), two car parking, parking for your boat trailer, private beach for the resort and a playground for the kids.

Spend the day boating, swimming and visiting all of the sites the greater Traverse City and Leelanau County has to offer. Then sit back and enjoy breathtaking sunset views in the evening, followed by a family gathering around the fire, enjoying smores, star gazing and friendly conversation.

A fisherman's paradise, Lake Leelanau offers some of the best fishing in northern Michigan, including Northern Pike, Walleyes, Bass, Perch, Bluegill and even Brown Trout. Then prepare those filets at the fish cleaning shed located within the resort.

Relaxed Girls Time

Thanks Steve We enjoyed our time overlooking the lake in the evening and cooling down in the Lake with a glass of wine after a long day exploring the area. Beautiful setting, sunsets and walking to morning fog misting over the trees and lake!! Your home was clean easy and cozy. Just would ask that you put info on your site regarding our own bedding and towels to be brought. I returned from a biz trip the night before to gather bedding and towels for this vaca trip out the next morning. Had I known I would have had things prepared prior. Other than that a wonderful time and place to relax Thank you much. Lynn

Steve's and Sue's cottage #3 was very clean and cozy. We enjoyed our week at the cottage and would definetly stay there again. The Beach and the surrounding property was very well maintained.

Great place for family fun and R&R

Great location on the lake. Beautiful sunset view! Nice little beach, fire pits and seating areas. Close to wineries and not a far drive to TC.

Clean, well maintained, friendly, helpful neighbors. We would of like to have a little more information on the boat docks but easy enough to pull the boat at night. Especially when I wasn’t the one doing it. LOL. Recommendation clothes line, little bit bigger grill, strainer for the sink to make sure no food goes down the drain. We will/ would definitely stay again .

To Much Community

• Clean but bathroom had earwigs every day • Has a dock for boats, however, needs to be dredged!!!! Our 18ft boat got stuck along with jet skis in the mud and sand a couple of times. • This cottage sat in front of the beach and a lot of foot traffic through our rental property from other renters (Community) • Only 4 fire pits for 9 cabins to share (Community) • Other owners of cabins were there somewhere friendly some were not • Beach was nice but had lots of shells and everyone got swimmers itch due to the amount of ducks around the property. If you like sharing your property with “community” this is great. If you prefer a little bit more privacy I would suggest another location! Just felt like you were always being watched be others. Very cute cabin just wish it was on its own property, also a lot of amenities in the cabin.

Great Experience!

Overall experience was awesome! The communication by the owners was superb and the cottage was very clean as well. We enjoyed our time fishing, swimming, sitting out by the lake, and gathering around the fire pit. West Winds is a great destination for family vacations! West Winds is a large property with room to fellowship, play yard games, and enjoy the lake with family and friends. Great place to vacation!

Great little place on the lake

Close enough to traverse city but also nice and quiet. Boat friendly with a launch nearby. I've got a 19 foot deep v powerboat and decided the marina/dock was not a great fit but the launch being close by was still very convenient.

Perfect Stay on the Lake

We absolutely loved staying in Steve & Sue's cottage at West Winds. The beach and outdoor space were great for the kids, and the home itself was cozy, clean and exactly as listed. I especially appreciated all the hooks, cubbies, and surfaces available for us to stash our stuff. Check-in was easy, and communication with the host was a breeze - they sent clear check-in instructions prior to our stay and even a last-minute email to let us know the wifi password had changed. We'll be back, for sure!

Lakefront Relaxing

Property was very clean and nicely decorated. Cottage was right on the water with a beautiful lake view. Little harbor and boat dock were perfect for our 17 foot boat. It even had shore power. Steve and Sue were very friendly and great hosts. Loved our stay.

The cottage was beautiful and very well maintained - exactly as described! The setting is peaceful which made our vacation relaxing and enjoyable. We saw some beautiful sunsets! Steve and Sue were very easy to work with and made our arrival and departure as easy as possible. I highly recommend renting from them.

Lake Cottage

Very cute, very clean and very close to the water! Perfect space for the 2 of us (and our pontoon boat). One rather large problem tho - the week went by entirely too fast! We will return.

Relaxing Week and super clean!

This property was exactly as described! It has to be the cleanest rental we’ve stayed in ever and has almost everything you need! A spatula for the kitchen would be a nice addition. The area surrounding the cottage is well maintained. My kids (boys ages 6 and 7) really enjoyed the basketball hoop and playground structure despite it being on the older side. The people at the other properties were respectful and friendly. The water was very refreshing and the beach area was clean, but I’d highly suggest water shoes, it’s quite rocky. It’s also a great location if you like to venture out. It’s about 10 minutes from Sutton’s bay, 20 from Leland, and another 15-20 from Traverse City. There is also Cherry picking close by as well as several wineries close by. We had a fabulous time and we would highly recommend this property! We hope to be back!

Updated and peaceful

I have stayed at West Wind Resort before and this cottage is the nicest (out of 9 cottages) as far as new and clean interior. There was plenty of storage for the four of us, beds were super comfortable and the view was spectacular. Our weather was great, which helped as the cottages here are tiny. I enjoyed everything, but would recommend a collapsing drying rack for outside, or some sort of laundry line to dry towels. I will stay here again.

Adorable Cottage!

Thank you Steve and Sue for making our week long stay in your cottage so cozy! The cottage is very clean and well equipped with everything we needed! The location is perfect especially parking our boat in the little marina right out front. I liked being close to the trailhead for biking. Traverse City, Sutton’s Bay, Glen Arbor, Mission Point, Leland, and Northport all close and great restaurants! The gas grill a bonus! What a relaxing vacation! One small thing ... since Lake Leelanau sits down low the phone service is not very good... Wifi would be awesome. See you next year! J & J

Quaint and Clean!

Cottage was spotlessly clean! Kitchen had all we needed to make all our meals there. Great night’s sleep on mattress/pillows. Bunk room had just enough room for our pack n play as well. View is wonderful! Close to everything.

Early Summer Weekend

We loved the cottage. It's perfect if you are planning to spend time out on the water, as the boat launch and dock are so close. A beautiful view, particularly at night, this is a really relaxing place to spend any time at all. We are already planning to come back next year.

Charming, clean property. Great for small groups.

This was a nicely updated little cottage! It’s very clean and offers a nice setting and view. The beds were comfortable, and really everything about it was pleasant. Overall I would recommend it! The only downsides would be the lack of wi-fi and no linen service-which is OK for a night or two, but perhaps an inconvenience if you stay longer. Perfect size for 2-3 people.
