Great for families, needs air vent cleaned

Family Vacation review

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to sandpiper cove for 20 years. It’s the best place to stay in Destin! We originally booked our stay for 7 nights but had to add one more night because we were having so much fun. This is the first time my family stayed in the #0018 house. We loved the size and location of the house but it did need some updates. It would have been nice to have a baby gate in the house to keep our kids safe from falling down the stairs. Also, the clothes washer smelled of mildew. A painting in our bathroom had a rip in it and there were stains in the carpet and on the couch. These things aren’t a huge deal breaker for my family but I thought it would be nice for the owners to know! We would rent here again! We loved how close the big pool was to our house and how we could see the harbor and the pond from our decks. Beautiful views!!!

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our condo was very sub-par cleaned and not stocked with anything as far as paper towels, toilet paper, or anything if that sort. The plumbing was terrible and sinks kept clogging. The first two hours trying to figure out what to do with my boat and trailer was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. Luckily a condo owner across the street was willing to help where Sandpiper wasn’t. I don’t know that I’ll be back here. But the size and location was pretty decent unfortunately that’s about it.

Great location

I got Unit 18 which is the corner lot, next to a restaurant & tennis courts. The house is just the right size for my family. The AC temperature was good. It’s only 5’ walk to the beach. Food store is also close by. We really enjoyed our stay in Destin. I am just waiting for my deposit. Otherwise, it was a great home to stay. We definitely will come back and book with this agency.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location is nice and I like the security at entrance. We did not get correct instructions at late check in and front desk called for a visit to the office prior to 10 am at 9:45 am and we were off site. Office seemed a bit grumpy. Bathrooms are very small.Everything is a bit worn and in need of a refresh...lamps broken, small Tv's, worn carpet and broken dishes. Unit did have new windows and sliding door.We had a plumbing issue that eliminated one shower - maintenance wanted to do the repair durning our stay. This involved cutting drywall out of ceiling at the step to upstairs bedroom. We elected to leave early. The office could not send the check out email with the new departure date. I actually received it after being home for a day. No financial compensation was offered.

Perfect location! Great condo for families!

The two bedrooms with full baths downstairs worked perfectly for my parents in one side of the condo and my husband & myself on the other side. My 19 year old son enjoyed having his own space & bathroom upstairs. We have stayed at many of the condos at Sandpiper Cove over the years. This was one of the nicest & cleanest. The only problem we had was that the tvs would not work when we arrived, but maintenance fixed the problem within the first hour of us reporting it. The beach was a very short walk from the condo. We enjoyed many of the nearby restaurants while there. I’d definitely stay in this condo again & recommend to others.

Gilliland’s 2022 annual Family GetAway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our first time staying in #18 Lake Villa. We thoroughly enjoyed layout of the house , the location. We were pleasantly surprised to see the owner has adequate furniture on the Lg. deck below & the two decks above. Especially the hammock & porch swing. We have stayed at another Villa in past two years that was in dire need of it. When we discovered on our 2nd day that drying wasn’t heating, maintenance responded quickly & guest services were helpful to give us another alternative while we were without & compensate us for any expense & inconvenience. As homeowners, We realize these things happen, but felt we were treated fairly. I do have a couple of suggestions....One thing that was very inconvenient for us was the kitchen had no cooking pans at ALL other than a muffin pan. It made it difficult when cooking. Also, the kitchen A/C Return air grate along the wall was REALLY dirty.. also the small deck table on bedroom deck on main floor is rusted & leaning & two of chairs on deck off kitchen has some sharp edges along the front of the seat. One last thing, the bedroom on main floor with the deck & tub bathroom needs a repositioning of the tv cabinet. It is to the side of the bed where you really can’t lay in bed & watch a movie or anything as it’s awkward. These issues can be easily corrected & surely would NOT deter us from renting this Villa again! I only stated these things because I believe it helps for the owners & mgt. to know for future guests. We look forward to our return.

Awful

Have been staying at Sandpiper Cove since 1978. We have stayed at many different units through the years, and this unit was by FAR the worst. I have nothing good to say about this property other than it is close to beautiful beach. Unit has some serious structural issues. The bathroom floor in loft area is sloped downwards and my children felt like they were falling backwards when sitting on toilet. There were other safety issues as well. Sliding glass door difficult to lock and I sliced my finger on sharp edge of the locking mechanism. Kitchen has next to no utensils. We had to go to Target to get a cookie pan just to cook a frozen pizza.

Lake villa

And for $600 per night you would think it would be pest free. Not the case we had roaches in the laundry room , master bath and kitchen. And they want me to wait 2 weeks before they return my deposit.They inspect the property the day you check out but want to hold your deposit as long as they can.I want be staying there again. There are many more much nicer places to stay in destin for the same cost.

Just ok

The condo was just ok..CONS needs major updates..running toilet..leaking shower..couldn't lock the front door..from the outside. The carpet was very dirty. Dead bugs. PROS great location..good comfortable beds. Nice pools. Good washer and dryer. Beach chairs in the storage area. Not sure I would rent this unit again.

Great location but the property does need updating

The location was great, very quick walk to the beach. The premises overall was clean and neat appearance. Inside of our property was not as appealing. We found a cockroach in bed. Could use fresh paint. Sliding door off the bedroom was broken. AC didn't work however, admin was very responsive and helpful.

The unit had several bed and my family for my family. The only issue we had was that the unit was not very clean. There were hair in the bathroom, in the door and in the tubs. Lastly, were roaches inside the unit, they were located in the kitchen area.

Disappointment for the first time

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Waited 2 hours past check-in for a supervisor to inspect the condo to assure it was ready for us to occupy. Nobody ever showed up to the actual condo (we were on the porch because we live in Oklahoma and had no where else to go). Amazingly, when I called for the 3rd time, it had "just been inspected" and they were texting me the codes. I paid 2600.00 for 90 hours.....and did not get those 90 hours. Mold in the vents, moldy shower curtains, trash stuck to the rugs. We have always used Sandpiper Cove- reconsidering that decision for next time. Was even told by the girl when I called the 3rd time to find out when we would be given access that she considered putting my call straight to hold but she decided to answer to apologize and let me know my text was coming, but she was super busy with a customer and needed to hang up or put me on hold........REALYY?!?!?!?

Oldie but goodie!

This property was built in the 70s; considering that, it was obviously a well built product. In spite of a few maintenance issues (shower & sink) on main floor, our overall experience was terrific. We enjoyed our visit & would definitely recommend for other families.

Great location

The property is an older one but the inside was well maintained. There was enough beds and space for a large family. When we arrived, due to the nature of the current pandemic, I sprayed Lysol everywhere and wiped down the bathrooms. The upstairs bathroom counter had hair all over the counter and there was some dry cereal on the floor. Also on our last night there was a cockroach in the bedroom that did not have access to am outside door. Those two issues surprised me because everything else looked good. Also, the kids LOVED the board games, which was weird because most kids are geared towards electronics. We would consider again but I will ensure I am prepared with extra cleaning supplies if we do.

Very nice place that my family in the other condo wished they stayed in. I would definitely recommend #18

Weekend Get-A-Way

We love this place for it's convenience to bring our boat. We can have our boat in and out of the water in minutes. Awesome dining is within a walk away, as well is the nite life just a short drive. We all have such a great time we have started a trend and will continue to come every year.
