Completely furnished with everything except food. Three Bedrooms, Living Room, Kitchen/Dining room, Laundry Room, Full Bath, additional shower in Master Bedroom, Large Screened-in Porch.
Beds include one Queen, one Double and one Bunk bed.

New in 2023 : New bedroom furniture and fresh paint.

Gem on Lake Erie

The Skiff Cottage is a cozy place with great atmosphere and excellent access to Lake Erie. Paul and Tris are hosts with the most! They respond quickly to any messages, are helpful and accommodating. We found everything we needed to make a 4 day getaway relaxing and memorable. We will definitely be back 💙

Great location!

Stayed at this location for a fishing trip. Perfect location and the cottage was perfect for our fishing group. Plenty of space for truck/boat parking.

Cottage with Amazing View!

Our first visit to the area. Amazing view of Lake Erie, which is a short walk from the cottage. Enjoyed a fire while sitting on the benches and watching the sunset. The cottage was well equipped with everything (kitchenware, soaps, laundry detergent, etc.). Cooked on the gas grill every day. Paul was very responsive to all our questions. Suggested several restaurants in the area - Wild Burrito was awesome! We visited the vineyards/breweries in the area and had a fantastic time! Don't hesitate - book this property if you have the chance. Till next time :)

What a gem

Comfy cottage with sunset views and lake access!

First time staying at this property-we felt at home immediately! Very comfortable cottage, lots of room for our family to enjoy! Private lot with beach just across a small street, easy access to launch our kayaks and swim! Great sunset views from the terraced lakefront lot with chairs, benches and picnic table too!

Beachless lakeview

Very disappointing.Planned on booking a condo but after seeing picture of a nice private beach and they stated private beach chose this house.It was only boulders in the houses assigned beach area.Ruined our trip.My plan was laying on bea h most of my trip.Do not know how they could show or sytate this.

Beautiful!

Very clean and beautiful view. The only thing that we were disappointed in was the fact that the house is not on the property that is lake front. It's hard to see that from the pictures. There is an open property with the lake view directly across a very small road from the house. Very nice seating on patio.

Homey and comfortable property

Nice place to stay for a chill vacay. Shower had great water pressure, place was very clean and there was a sharp knife in the kitchen for all our food prep. Owner super responsive and offered suggestions of what to do in area as well.

Bliss on the lake

Paul is a great host and the property is exactly as described. My daughters and I stayed four days, to get away from work and enjoy some girl time...it was just what we expected and more! Everything we needed was at our fingertips, we will definitely return and maybe bring the rest of the family ;)

Ranch Cottage

The cottage is so warm and cozy. Also, the area is private but there are great places outdoors. Nice restaurants and people. I lived on Lake Road as a teen. It has retained the charm and fun I remembered.

Couldn't have asked for a better stay

Paul was an amazing host -- thank you for having us! As you can tell from the photos, the home is on the south side of the street, while directly across the street is the beautiful lot on the lake with two nice benches and a firepit, along with a picnic table overlooking the lake. It's unbelievable. The home was exactly what we wanted. It had a Keurig, but also a regular coffee brewer, gas stove, gas fireplace, natural gas grill outside so you never have to worry about running out of propane if the last guests grilled a ton. There were blankets and sheets on all of the beds and a closet full of extra quilts and comforters in case you wanted more. Super easy check in. Everything was spelled out and Paul was great with communication at all times. I didn't need anything during the trip, but anytime I reached out for any reason before or after, I got a text back within minutes. I can't wait to come visit again next year.

Great little place!

We enjoyed our stay at this sweet little cottage. It was a very hot week & we were grateful for the air conditioners. We could've used another window unit in the second bedroom though. The place is equipped with everything you could need for a nice vacation.

Skiff Cottage Getaway

The skiff cottage was a great spot for our annual vacation. The owner was incredibly responsive before and throughout our stay. The cottage was fully stocked with linens, towels, kitchen items, board games and even the fire wood for outdoor marshmallows roasting! There is no central A/C but two A/C Units are provided as well as box fans. The lake access is just across the road. The road wasn’t too heavily traveled, but some vehicles were traveling pretty fast, so if you have little ones, keep an eye on it. There appeared to be some road construction nearby, so it was a bit noisier than we would’ve liked, but that definitely wasn’t something anyone had control over so not a big deal. We were able to swim and launch our kayaks right at the lake access. Unfortunately due to rising lake levels, there’s not much of a “beach” with sand, etc but it was not an issue for us. There’s even a community beach within walking distance that we utilized as well. The cottage property was clean and well kept. The landscaping added a nice nautical feel! The owner took great care to ensure we had what we needed.

Skiff Cottage was wonderful!

We had a wonderful week at the lake! The cottage and location were perfect for us! We loved having a view of the water and access to a small private beach, the cottage was well equipped and roomy and comfortable. The property owner was great about communicating and accessible for any needs or questions we had. Our week just went too fast! We sure hope to visit again!

This property was amazing! Everything was perfect and the host was fantastic. I couldn't say enough good things about this place. This property does not have AC but uses 2 AC units. We usually keep our place very cool so we were worried that it would be to hot. It was not we stayed in July it was very hot the place stayed perfectly cool for us. The wind from the lake helps. The lake was beautiful. Everything was clean! They give you plenty of dishes, towels, and blankets for your use. I would recommend this place for sure! 10 out of 10 We will definitely stay again if we are back in the area.

Excellent host!

From beginning to end, Paul was a great communicator! He responded to all of my messages in a timely manner and while we were on vacation, he responded quickly, answering all of our questions and addressing any issues we had. Skiff Cottage was clean, the property was beautifully landscaped, the beds were comfortable, linens and towels smelled clean. If you're interested in suggestions about where to visit/eat, we highly recommend taking a trip to Headland Beach to see the lighthouse. M Cellars was our favorite winery. The food at Laurentia Winery was amazing (Monterrey Shrimp was a-ma-zing!!!) though, in my opinion, the wine was just meh and the staff was also just meh. Madison-on-the-Lake is not like Geneva-on-the-Lake, but if you prefer a quieter beach experience, it's a great spot and just a quick drive to GOTL. Although the Skiff Cottage beach is private, it's across the street and the beach is covered with large rocks, making it not the best beach for kids, but if you don't mind sitting on a grassy hill, it's perfectly fine. There is a fire pit, and as long as you don't imagine yourself on a sandy beach around a fire, it's also fine. We managed to see a number of beautiful sunsets from our bench at the top of hill.

Location was perfect!! It's far enough away from the crazyness of Geneva on the Lake but close if you like that kinda of thing. House was clean and the owners are very nice. We'll be staying again for sure ! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oasis on Lake Erie

Paul was a great communicator during the days leading up to our trip and the duration of our stay! The property is very gorgeous with a stunning view of Lake Erie. The kiddos loved searching for all the pretty rocks along the beach. There was also a public beach about two minutes away. The neighborhood was quiet and well kept. There were some sweet journals that past visitors have written in and it was fun to read some entries. This oasis on Lake Erie was perfect for our family and friends. We would definitely stay at Skiffs Cottage again.

Skiff Cottage

Girls trip over Memorial Day weekend for our friend's 50th Bday. We all were very happy with the cabin. Clean and had everything available except for the food. Paul, the manager, was easily accessible and helpful. Had such a great time, we stayed an extra day. Thank you!!

Great stay

The cottage was very clean and supplied with all of our needs. I didn’t read the listing well enough before booking to realize the beach was across the road but it still worked out nicely. Only complaint is the neighbor was a little loud with their music all day but I’m a country folk who may just not be used to a lot of noises. Overall great place to stay!

Hello.. We are Tris and Paul and we welcome you to our home. We have been renting out our summer home since 2000 and we have really enjoyed meeting so many families who have stayed at our place over the years (&the friends who return each year). It is great meeting people from all over who are excited to get together with family & friends and enjoy some time at our beach.
I have lived in Madison most of my life and Tris is from Indonesia. We got married in 2009. We both work together managing the cottage and we thoroughly enjoy it each summer.

Why they chose this property

Growing up in the quaint small town of Madison, I have always been drawn to the lake. So, when I had the opportunity to buy this place in 1999 I jumped on it. Our dream is to eventually build a summer home on the lot where we have our beach and to continue to share it with renters. The past 12 years have been filed with many happy memories shared with so many renters. We take a lot of pride in what we provide and we just love to share the blessings we have.

What makes this property unique

So many renters first show up to our home with a long list of plans of what they want to do during their stay...and most of them are just so content to stay at the beach, watching sunsets, swimming, boating having campfires and cookouts and really do not want to leave. Most renters like the quietness of the private beach.
