We had an amazing stay surrounded by incredible art created by the owner, Phillip. Everything we needed for a stay to remember was already there. We will be back!
We really enjoyed staying at Phillip's house. Watching the sunrise over the mountains was amazing and we used some of his fresh rosemary in his yard to cook. Unfortunately the sign for his street was taken down so initially had a hard time finding the house but Phillip was kind enough to wait up for us and guide us to his house.
We love staying at Holiday House! It’s beautiful, cozy and accommodating, The pool is perfect the kitchen is fab and the views are incredible! Phillip and Scotty are so welcoming and love the pets. A place we love to return to!
Our second stay at Phillip and Scotty’s and it was perfect. We really felt at home and welcomed. It’s beautiful and peaceful and we hope to continue to visit. Xo our dogs love it the most!
We loved Phillip's home and really felt welcome there. It was nice to spend time in the desert in a space that was full of fabulous art, and also had a great kitchen and a pool! The home was pet friendly, very clean and full equipped! We would love to stay again!
This house is so unique and lovely to stay at. The hosts were very gracious and flexible with our check-in. HIGHLY recommend staying here. We will be coming back in the future.
The house is clean, well-kept, comfortable and has a well-appointed kitchen. We loved the outdoor seating areas all around the house to enjoy the desert. We loved being able to see the ever-changing views from almost anywhere inside the house.
Phillip is a thoughtful, considerate, friendly, and responsive host. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.
If quirky serenity appeals this place is for you. The property feels like a much-loved home with countless personal touches made available to guests. We went for a star-gazing weekend but were thwarted by rare cloud cover. But, that disappointment turned to joy with the skyscapes thrown off during vivid lightening storms providing celestial compensation to dazzle the eye and live long in the mind.
The hosts are attentive, kind and responsive without being intrusive. The house has a well-equipped and stocked kitchen and felt spacious for our party, two adults and lively Chessie.
Accessibility may be an issue for some travelers as the property can only be reached via dirt and sandy roads. You don't need an SUV or 4-wheel drive but those of a nervous disposition might prefer one.
Highly recommended and looking forward to making a return trip.
I loved the house, Phillip was very accommodating and friendly.
The house is remote but also relatively close to local mart, gas station, Giant Rock and other local attractions.
House is very clean and modern, 1 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, new kitchen and a large living room, surrounded by fence and fun sculptures.
I wish I could have stayed there longer!
Had really wonderful time here at Philip and Scott’s artistic home, great quiet neighborhood, spectacular views and plenty of outdoor seating areas. Can’t wait to come back.
A fabulous desert compound in a fantastic location for hiking Joshua Tree Natl Park.
We started every day with breakfast, including excellent coffee, in the well appointed kitchen - the desert view and the equally scenic artwork in the house and yard can’t be beat. Phillip was the consummate host, welcomed us with a bright flashlight, had advice on the local art scene, and was available and responsive to our questions about the house. Only sorry we didn’t have a chance to try out the firepit!
Private, eclectic, and relaxation are the three words I'd use to describe this unique property. Perfect for star gazing, relaxation outdoors, or appreciation of the unique indoor and outdoor art amidst a stunning desert setting. Highly recommended.
This home was quite wonderful, an oasis hidden away in the country side full of creative visual surprises. Peaceful quiet, comfortable, stars you could almost reach out & touch, fantastic kitchen, the perfect relaxing getaway.
My sister and I visited Philip and Scott's home for a birthday weekend in the desert and it was everything I could have imagine. They are wonderful artists and the home is filled with creativity, love and excitement. Philip was kind and patient with our delayed arrival because of LA traffic and answered all questions I had throughout the weekend. A great time.
This property is wonderfully maintained, Phillip was very friendly and accessible, and my wife and I absolutely enjoyed our time there. As others have said, the pictures don't do it justice. Amazing experience.
Phillip was an amazing host from even before our trip until the very end of our trip. He was always there to answer any questions and he doesn’t live too far away if you did need him. This is a beautiful home full of art everywhere you turn. We cozied up in the living room our first night to enjoy a movie on the projector screen. The yard is large and very dog friendly. And the home is great for drinking some wine outside and stargazing with your loved one. The kitchen is equipped with all your cooking needs. I could go on but you’ll just need to experience this place yourself.
This home was perfect for me and my husband. We appreciated the remote location and beautiful artwork throughout the home and property. The yard is completely fenced so our two little dogs were completely safe. We would love to stay here again one day.

Artists living and working in Landers. My partner and I built our house in 2007. We moved from New York state after living there for over 25 years. Tired of the brutal winters & high humidity in summer, we find the High-Desert a welcome change.
Why they chose this property
As the sign states when you enter Landers ' Land of Endless Vistas '. that's what brought us here.
What makes this property unique
