Beyond the White Breakers is the perfect backdrop for memories to be made all while being at one of the most sought after vacation destinations in the country. Just shy of the Virginia/NC border, this spacious six bedroom home makes for the perfect escape from life and the setting for an amazingly unique experience for the entire family. The unmistakable "untouched" feeling of Carova's sandy beaches is reinforced by the sheer remoteness and dark nights lit by nothing other than the stars. No roads, no streetlights, no horns or sirens - just miles of pristine, rolling coastline.

Upon arriving at Beyond the White Breakers, you will find fresh linens provided and your beds made in preparation for your stay. This well appointed, large 6 bedroom home sports 4 spacious master bedrooms. Since Beyond the White Breakers is pet friendly, we have taken the worry away about where to board man's best friend during your family's week in paradise. One of the most unique qualities of this home is the private boardwalk to the beach and dune-top deck that offers the perfect backdrop for your morning coffee or evening star gazing. (Unfortunately, at this time, the walkway ends in a drop-off due to storm surge; therefore, the closest access to the beach is either Bluefish Lane or Pompany Lane until the stairs can be rebuilt. Guests can still enjoy the dune-top deck!) The large private pool with ample furniture & tiki bar, hot tub on the top deck overlooking the ocean and rec room with ping-pong table and wet-bar are the perfect wind down after a day at the beach.

Equipped with Stainless appliances, this modern, well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare the perfect meal for your family. And if outdoor cooking is preferred, a gas grill is provided for your convenience. Whether you chose to dine in the indoor dining area or perhaps the screened porch, the crystal clear ocean views are unparalleled. Though you are "away from it all" you can still connect with the rest of the world with wifi or by watching one of many flat screen TVs throughout the home. Movies, games and books are also available for your entertainment on rainy days.

When you decide to go search for the Corolla Wild Horses or site seeing on the mainland for the day, you wont want to miss dinner at Agave Roja or perhaps you may prefer a more formal dining experience at North Banks - either is sure to please.

Guest Review: "We thought the rental was wonderful!!! It was VERY clean had all the necessary appliances and is located in the perfect spot. We even had 3 wild horses enjoy the carport for a bit, leave a “souvenir”.

Disappointing for the $$

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed for two weeks and while overall, the house was fine, there is no walkway to the beach as advertised, and that I was really looking forward to. Instead there is a walkway to a crow's nest but the bushes were very overgrown. You cannot walk from the house to the beach. Additionally, the Wifi went out mid way through our first week and there was nothing done to address it, we had to burn our cell data plans up. And - both the dishwasher and the dryer broke during our second week. Small annoyances to be sure but you can probably find better deals elsewhere in the 4x4.

Wonderful location - the house needs a good scrub

Carova beach is a unique and one of a kind experience. The home is large and a quick walk to the beach. Unfortunately the walkway to the beach is covered with overgrown bushes that need a good trim. The pool area is great. We came after tropical storm Ophelia and there was more sand than normal in the pool. We were told they would send cleaners and while a company did come to check the pool and hot tub, the sand was not cleaned out. They just touched up on the chemicals. The people before us left some items of clothing and a cooler bag just laying out in the yard. Some garbage was left behind laying around as well. We know the cleaners were in a rush from the storm but taking the extra 30 seconds to throw them all in the trash would’ve given a better first impression as we were welcomed with trash and stranger’s underwear. The house is big, big enough for our family of 16. The air conditioning was not working properly. The lower two floors felt like a sauna at night.The kitchen area is fine. Big enough to accommodate everyone. The floors were filthy. My daughter spilled her drink and when I wiped it up the towels were immediately black. Dog hair was found on floors as well along with on a couple of blankets. The hot tub was a hit with the kids. Unfortunately, lots of sand was in there too and not cleaned out when the chemicals were checked. The internet comes and goes. Not reliable if anyone is thinking they can work while on vacation.Seeing the horses everyday was wonderful. We saw dolphins and even a small shark while walking to Virginia (which is just a ten minute walk from the home).Overall our stay was OK but the home definitely needs some attention.

Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful experience! Booking during the off season allowed us to park on the beach without a permit, but this was the easiest beach access. The boardwalk to the beach is destroyed and needs to be reconstructed, but driving to the beach was perfect for us. We would stay here again! Very clean,privacy, kitchen supplies were plentiful, the views were splended from the hot tub.

Best house on Carova!

This place is amazing! It’s in the perfect spot! The house is stocked with everything! Furniture is comfy, tons of room to spread out, but also great places to gather as a family. Loved all the decks , screened porch, and the lookout deck! The sunrise, sunsets, and stars are amazing! The horses 🐎 were right in the yard twice. We also loved walking and riding around looking at the beautiful scenery and horses. Views from house are just incredible! Our family ranged from 18-50, 8 of us , everyone loved it! We will definitely be back and would stay in the same home! Loved everything about it!

Reviewer Comments: while the access to the beach was very enjoyable, there were a few things that brought it down. The home was cute but floors were dirty and air didn’t work the best. The filters to the air conditioner were extremely dirty and looked as if they hadn’t been changed in years. The pool was awesome but then again we couldn’t get the light to work in the pool for night time swimming. I feel that the owners should visit the property every now again to see what’s been happening in their home.

Best vacation we ever had!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was about a 30 minute drive up the beach to get to his home but it was worth every minute. It had pretty much everything we needed. Having our own walkway to the beach was awesome!! The house is very comfortable and you can see the ocean and almost every room. We were blessed to see the sunrise in the morning from the deck and the full moon at night. Four of the horses came to visit us and we’re under our house and in the yard for quite a long time. It was a magical time.

House was large enough, came fully equipped, and close enough to the end of the line to feel like we had our own private beach. Had one issue with the water pump going out- mgmt company had a plumber out within 20 minutes and issue corrected in under 3 hours from the time we reported it! House is a little older, but in good repair. Overall a great, quiet and relaxing stay!

Family get away

Beach was right there and the house supplied the chairs and boogie boards. There was plenty of beach / pool toys to enjoy. The house was clean and well equipped for everything. Location was great! Driving up the surf was fun but definitely need 4X4! Saw wild horses and they actually came right up to front steps. We did not really drive into town the entire week, maybe because we just had all we needed. Great place to relax. Even during the rainy day we had fun. Plenty of games etc. The pool and hot tub were a welcomed amenity.

Best Vacation Ever!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My Mom, who is 90 always wanted to see live horses running wild. Well, it could not have been more perfect. The Mustangs were in the front yard for 3 days in a row! We were able to see them run down to the beach and immediately gallop back over the dunes and run down the yards next to us, then across our back yard, then saw them go up into the hills. It was absolutely wonderful. We could not have asked for a more beautiful location. The weather was perfect and the house was fantastic. I would recommend anyone who loves horses and the beach to stay at this location.

Wish there were more towels or at least bath sheet size towels for all guests. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances and extra refrigerator allowed us to have entire weeks worth of food without having to go back out to store during our stay. We were expecting a "welcome pack" upon arrival. Other than a book with useful information, there was no "welcome package". Stay advertised as including 1 hr photography session, we never were contacted or received this either. Ended up taking pictures with our cell phones on beach - they did turn out great. We would come back to this location again.although pool was closed, we enjoyed the hot tub. House had minor damaged items (hardware on door to screened in area would fall out each time door was opened). Many light bulbs were not working...especially outside. Overall great experience.

Great Summer Retreat!

While not luxurious, it was clean, well equipped and the rental agency was very responsive. The beach was amazing and the pool area was delightful. The hot tub and tiki bar appeared to be brand new. Although we would have enjoyed it regardless, it was the perfect getaway for our family during the pandemic. An elevator would be a great addition, as the living space is on the third floor and carrying groceries and other items up two flights was quite a chore.

This home was located at the far end of the 4x4 beach, which was nice because the beach was not as busy. So easy to check in with the keyless entry. The home was very clean and we loved how many bathrooms it had! The kitchen was very spacious and had all the utensils you could think of to cook proper meals. No Keurig though, so make sure you bring coffee and filters. The pool and hot tub were very clean and we even had someone come check on the chemicals while we were there. Really liked the boardwalk out to the beach and the crow's nest where you could sit and watch the beach/ocean activity. The decks were great and we loved the safety gates at the top of each of the steps! All of the outdoor furniture was in great condition and the grill was easy to work as well! We had horses come right up to the house almost every day! We really enjoyed our stay and plan on making this an annual trip! Well worth the drive to get out to the house with a 4x4!

The kitchen was very well equipped. Loved the gift bag with a couple of very necessary items in case we had forgotten them. Also enjoyed the bottle of wine! The house was clean, very functional and well set up. Unlike many vacation rentals, there was plenty of seating at dining tables and on couches in the living room for all to gather. Even the back deck had lots of seats for relaxing. Wild horses came to graze in the yard while we were there. We enjoyed stargazing from the viewing platform near the beach. Great place for quiet walks on the beach, as its only a half mile from the state line, at which point there are no motorized vehicles, so its a quick walk to quiet, secluded beach, or park with hiking trails. I really couldn't imagine what could be improved upon. If we get back to the outer banks, we will definitely stay at 'Beyond the White Breakers' again. It's one of those places that is so nice you almost don't want to write a great review, as you want to keep it a personal secret. But in fairness to the terrific owners, I can't say enough in praise of this house. It's even pet friendly, and our golden very much enjoyed his stay with us. The gate on the top deck came in handy to give him sunshine without risk of him running off. Lovely stay for all of us.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I would love to give this property a bad review, so no one would rent it and it would always be available for my family. But that would not be fair to the property owner, the rental company or the next family. This is a fantastic property.It is located 10 miles off of the hard top. It will take you 30 to 40 minutes to get there, depending on beach driving conditions and beach traffic. A four wheel drive vehicle, with high ground clearance is needed to get through the deep dry sand on the dune side of the beach as well as on Sandfiddler road. If your family wants to visit the shops and restaurants of Duck, Corolla and the rest of the outer banks daily, this is not the property for you.If , however you go to the beach for the beach, this is a great property. Easy, private beach access, surf fishing, beach combing, and wild horse watching.The property was clean, well maintained and equipped better than many beach properties I have rented.There are a lot of stairs at this property. If you are mobility challenged this may be an issue. Packing your supplies for the week in and out will take it's toll on your legs and back. You will feel it days after you have left. A vacation souvenir we were not expecting.I would definitely rent this property again and recommend it to friends and family.
