About this property

Isolated Log Cabin with Panoramic Views of Cherry Pond and White Mountains

Fantastic place to escape into the woods, with panoramic views, closest house is a 1/2 mile away.

Almost new Log Cabin, just finished in 2017 on 34 acres with 1200 ft driveway provides privacy and fantastic views of Cherry Pond and from Mt Waumbek to Vermont. The Property abuts the White Mountain National Forest and you can hike out the top of the property to Owls Head and Mt Martha which is about 3.0 miles one way and 1600 ft of elevation change. Owls Head offers fantastic views of the entire presidential range.

The 1st floor bedroom has a queen bed, and the living area has a full size sleeper sofa. All mattresses are new memory foam mattresses. There is a storage loft that is accessed by a ladder, not stairs, so it is not appropriate for children under 5 or people unable to climb a ladder. The Cabin is off the electric grid with solar panels and batteries. One full bathroom with shower and an outdoor shower. My cleaner is phenomenal and the cabin is sanitized every time after each guest.

Fantastic covered screened in porch to enjoy the views and there is a Pavilion covering the fire pit area with picnic table that also has fantastic views. Cell phone reception is very good with Verizon and there is 4G and LTE service. The cabin does not have WIFI or a TV, dishwasher, or laundry. It is meant as a getaway and to get unplugged. During the day, the view is incredible and at night the stars are amazing with almost no light pollution.

Restaurants and towns are at least 15 minutes away on some of the most scenic roads in New England. Lancaster is 15 minutes, Bretton Woods is 15 min, Bethlehem is 20 min, Gorham is 21 min, and Littleton is 27 minutes. The journey is half the fun with many view points and activities outside of towns.

In the winter season, it is recommended to have AWD or 4WD vehicles as the driveway is about 1200 ft long uphill with a 10% slope.

Since I like to use the cabin a lot myself throughout the year, no monthly or seasonal rental is possible.

Solo Retreat
Wonderful place to take a four day solo retreat.Comfortable with beautiful views, day and night, sunny or storming (rain, snow & freezing rain) - I experienced it all and enjoyed every minute of the "long long (but too short) weekend.""... And rising very early in the morning (Jesus) departed and went to an ISOLATED place, and there He prayed." Gospel of Mark 1: 35

Great location and spectacular view
This cabin was in a great location and the front deck area had a great view. The cabin was very clean and had ample heat, hot water, and oven/ stovetop and refrigerator functioning well. After I had reached the host by email he was quick to reply by text. I had to email him the day before rental to get the key code number and then he did say he would email me directions/info which I never received. The VRBO directions told us to look for Hazen road and there was no Hazen Road dign, it was Airport Rd., and I had to reach out to him the day before stay for key code.Alhe was very quick to respond.

Perfect White Mountains Getaway
My daughter and I had an amazing time at Ben's cabin. It was our first time in the White Mountains and we were not disappointed! The cabin is so clean and cozy and close enough to what we wanted to see and do. The views of the mountains and Cherry pond from the front porch were breathtakingly beautiful! It was wonderful to enjoy the sunrise, sunset and actually see the stars without any light pollution from the comfort of the front porch. I have to admit, the thought of being off the grid and up on the side of a mountain away from everything and everyone was a little scary at first, but once we settled in, we realized why we chose this cabin and weren't missing out on anything! It was the perfect place to relax and rewind and get away from the every day grind. Ben was very attentive and provided all the information we needed to enjoy our stay. I enjoyed looking at his "My Side of the Mountain" picture book chronicling his building of the cabin from start to finish. You can see the pride he and his family put into every little detail and truly appreciate him opening up his cabin for all to enjoy. We wished we could have stayed longer but hope to come back again soon!!

Great Hiking Home Base
I took my son and nephews hiking in the wonderful White Mountains. This great mountain cabin was just what we needed. It was just the type of cabin we were looking for; rustic feeling, but still comfortable; centrally located to all our hikes, towns, and restaurants, but remote and off the grid. We enjoyed the fire pit, laughed a lot, and made some fantastic memories. This cabin was part of those memories and I'm very grateful. Thank you Ben!

Perfect White Mountain Getaway
The cabin was just as described. Beautiful views from the porch and the perfect place to disconnect. We had plenty of cell service if we needed to use our phones which worked out well for booking tours and getting directions. One thing to keep in mind is that the property does have some high grass areas so make sure to check for ticks when you come in from outside. The location is perfect for exploring the presidential range. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Ben is a fantastic host and we’d definitely stay here in the future.

Sharing NH with the family
I used to live in New Hampshire and have been back several times with my spouse. We typically camp in the area. This was the first trip with my step-children. I chose this cabin because of the location and the views and it did not disappoint. Our kids are not nature lovers however they hung out on the porch with us every morning and evening. They now understand my love of the White Mountains. I also saw a momma moose and her baby walking up the driveway! Such a great spot for a NH getaway.

About the host

Avid Hiker, which is what brought me to this property after hiking in the White Mountains for 25 years. Purchased the 17 acres of land six years ago and built the cabin in 2017 on weekends while camping on site. I like to refer to the property as My Side of the Mountain, because of the young adult book by the same name.

Why they chose this property

You are out in the middle of nature abutting the White Mountain National Forest with no neighbors within view and the closet one is about 0.4 miles.

This newly built cabin is 1200 feet up a gravel driveway and is off grid with a solar electric system with batteries. We have 12 volt LED lighting and AC power for the fridge, hot water heater and outlets. There are also USB charging stations for your phones and tablets. Cell phone reception is very good with Verizon and there is 4G and LTE service. The cabin does not have WIFI or a TV. It is meant as a getaway and to get unplugged. The cabin does have two propane direct vent heaters and a propane stove in the kitchen. The Kitchen does have an undercounter fridge, stove, and large sink, but does not have a dishwasher, microwave or coffee maker. We do have a teapot and french press. We also do not provide a hair dryer.

What makes this property unique

There are two mountain bikes, hiking poles, and snow shoes at the cabin. We also have the AMC guidebook and trail maps for the white mountains to borrow and return please. The 20 mile long Presidential Rail Trail bike path is about 1.5 miles from the cabin. There are binoculars, telescope, books, games, and lincoln logs for old and young to enjoy.
