UD mini-reunion

Teresa is a great host! She and her daughter greeted us and made us feel very welcome. She is very attentive and quick to respond with any questions. Her home is beautiful and well appointed. The location is perfect, close enough to beaches and restaurants, but quiet and secluded for your visit.

Perfect place to gather!

We stayed at the Sunset House to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. We had 7 adults and two teenagers and the house accommodated us all comfortably. The location is lovely and the sunset views were gorgeous! We especially appreciated how communicative our host was and how incredibly well stocked the house was, especially the kitchen. With several great cooks in our group it was really nice to find the kitchen had everything we could possibly need. Thank you for a great stay! We hope to be back soon!

Great location

The house is in a quiet, safe neighborhood- all of Folly is safe. We most enjoyed the river views. The dock was nice for fishing, seeing sunsets and dolphins.The house is nice, decent. Needs some updating all around, but overall accommodations were good.

Christmas Getaway

The house was so charming and provided plenty of space for our family of 6. It was well stocked and exceeded our needs. The owner reached out to ensure we were able to access the house upon our arrival. Upon entering, the home was beautifully decorated for the holiday and Christmas music was playing...this was a wonderful setting to start off our vacation. At the end of our 10 day stay, we found it hard to leave! We felt so at home! I would book this home again and highly recommend it.

Fall Break 2024

First off, the place is amazing! You are alone with a view that takes your breathe away. The sense of calm and nature are serene. Miss Teresa was very helpful and checked in on us as well. Got to meet Mayor Tim walking his dog - it’s definitely where the locals live.

Beautiful, private Folly vacation home

Our family had an amazing time over Labor Day weekend at the Sunset House. The sunsets over the water were truly breathtaking, and we spent every evening (and much of the day) enjoying the dock and the water, including paddleboarding (so easy to rent them at Charleston SUP Safaris and just paddle down to the house!) We had everything we could need for the weekend, and the house was very comfortable. So many beautiful spaces to relax in, both inside and out. The location is exceptional - close to downtown and the beach but so quiet, peaceful and private, even on a very busy weekend. We definitely hope to return!

Folly Beach Vacation

Communication with our host was easy. She worked to make our stay all that we hoped it would be. Even though it was Father’s Day, our host was quick to find a repairman when the air condition unit stopped working. The view from the sun porch is so peaceful and relaxing. Very quiet neighborhood. Our family has rented this house before and we hope to return again.

Folly Beach

The house was great. We loved the magnificent views. The location is wonderful. It has the feeling of being secluded but actually is very close to the beach, restaurants and bars. Teresa was very kind and helpful. We rented a boat. The dock was perfect. A golf cart made getting around the island easy and fun.

Bachelorette party

We had the most AMAZING time at the sunset house. First of all, Teresa is wonderful. She made us feel right at home and made sure we were having a great trip. The house has many spots to hang out and relax and the beds were very comfortable. I was there for my bachelorette party with 9 girls and everyone fit comfortably. The home is cozy and just a short walk into town. I would absolutely stay here again!

Absolutely perfect.

This house has it all! Plenty of space, places to sit and relax, plus a lot of entertainment options. The golden hour was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. We enjoyed crabbing on the dock, watching sunsets, sitting on the deck(s), having bonfires, and hanging out in the sunroom. We also liked taking a quick walk to town to have lunch, shop, and check out the pier. Our family is thankful for the time we were able to spend at the Sunset House. Enjoyed And Coming Back

Enjoyed our stay and family is planning on coming back. Location is all walking distance to the tourist center and the beach. Best of all is we had the dock all to ourselves. Fishing and crabbing anytime family was back from having an outside meal. The host was very accommodating and made sure our stay was as relaxing and enjoyable the best that she can provide.

We loved both the location and the house. Unfortunately for us, the weather was uncooperative, so we were unable to use the outside chairs and firepit. Overall, it was a great home.

Outstanding Waterside Property

Amazing time. Theresa was perfect to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. The property was walking distance to downtown Folly Beach and the house itself was absolutely amazing. Access to the dock, plenty of outdoor space to hang out, and a sun room with great views. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Beautiful Sunset Views

Our entire family loved the view and access to the river. The marsh was beautiful all hours of the day, no matter whether the tide was high or low. Our son-in-law really enjoyed having his canoe on the dock where he could take it out on the river every day, and the grandkids loved paddle boarding on the quiet river. We saw dolphins frequently as well as plenty of other wildlife. The sunsets were spectacular! The pier needs a little attention close to the dock, where it is sagging. The house is spacious, interesting, and well stocked - a few things were little quirky, but overall, it was very comfortable. We would definitely consider staying there again.

A great place to stay..

Hostess was very helpful with activities and local attractions. The property was ideal location being close enough to walk to beaches and all local shops but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet evenings with fabulous sunsets and star gazing. Dock has plenty of water at low tide and convenient to public launch. No regrets, hope to stay there again!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Sunset house and would not change anything. The house is set back on a beautiful lot, so very private, yet we were able to easily walk to Center Street/the beach. The house was very clean, with lots of space for our group of 9 adults to eat, inside and out. Would book this again for sure.

My husband and I built this home in 1991 after moving to the Low Country from Columbia, S. C. After many years of looking for the right property, we found paradise. Our desire was to raise our 2 daughters in a safe place while enjoying the beach and all of the fun things "Folly" has offer. Living on the water and being outdoors allowed our girls to grow up learning how to crab, fish, shrimp, adore nature, and learn an all-around appreciation for the water with all of the beauty this Island has to offer. They're grown and out of the house, now, so I'm in that ''sizing down" mode and it's time to let others enjoy this home located in such a beautiful place.

I've had many rental properties for 40 years, so I decided to incorporate this property in with my other rentals, rather than selling this unique, one of a kind home. I realized an important thing, it cannot be replaced or duplicated.

As a matter of fact, I've always had a bit of an ecliptic decorating style and like to be a little different. I guess I am a citizen of "Folly". I spent some time and was a homeowner in the Carribean, St. Thomas, actually, and loved their style of decor with rich warm colors with bright ones carefully incorporated. So, I brought a little of the style home with me and sprinkled it in the "Sunset" House and just love it. It's unique and I hope that others will enjoy it, too.

So, there ya go, I hope you'll allow me to host you by visiting my home and enjoying our Special piece of Heaven.

You can sunbath on the private dock while enjoying all of he river activities, views and outrageous sunsets. You'll have to decide...beach today or hanging on the river. Sometimes, I find that a very tough decision and feel so fortunate to have it!
There's several seating areas (inside and out) to relax and enjoy your time off while enjoying your privacy.
The "Sunset" House is just a great place to escape the crowds, keep busy, if you want, or just do nothing.
