About this property

The Cottage is located on a private road that leads directly to the seawall and a 3 mile beach. It is seven cottages away from the seawall and the beach. Built in 1924, it is an original, "Legacy Cottage" complete with original wood beams, panelling and hard wood flooring. Cozy, and charming, it has 4 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath plus outside, private shower and huge side lot. Sleeps 7 : King size bed, two full size beds and one single bed. Located in Marshfield MA, the seaside town is 25 miles south of Boston, and 12 miles north of historic Plymouth, MA. Great outside shower and thissummer cottage is steps away, a five minute walk up the private road to beautiful Fieldston Beach. The cottage features original 1924 woodwork, including wood paneling and beams and two original iron bed frames! Original oak hardwood floors glisten! A lovely fireplace beckons! Reading nooks, private back deck and lovely front summer porch are perfect spots to relax. It also features a huge, enclosed side yard. The cottage has a washer, dryer, gas stove and outdoor grill. Play in the huge yard, entertain on the private back deck and just sit on lovely front porch and catch the summer breezes. This is the third season of having guests this beloved legacy cottage. Come to our 1924 cottage by the sea and forget all of your troubles and just enjoy life the way it should be!

Great location; charming host!

The host, Karen, was so helpful and communicative with us. The information she gave us was accurate and came in very handy - - from heating the cottage to the best local restaurants! The location is great for walking along the shore at low tide, as well as exploring the New England coast below and above Boston. Short trip to Boston, should you want to take in the sights. Plymouth is very close and a "must see". If you like historic, cozy, quirky places you'll love Karen's cottage! Might not be best for some elderly folks or those with physical limitations, as the stairs are steep. Thanks, Karen! We hope to be there again.

Our Stay at the Cottage

Our stay at the 1924 antique cottage at the ocean was fantastic. The house was a quint cottage with rustic wood paneling and a great fireplace. The house had all the amenities that we needed and close to many restaurants. I will miss the sound of the waves crashing at night while I fell asleep.

The Sound of the Ocean

The cottage was very picturesque with a lot of antiques as furnishings in the home. The beds were comfortable and the water was hot for showers. We had the company of a little mouse one morning. The house needs some love and care. Karen was a joy to talk too and was very helpful with the wifi and giving us hints about the area. A lovely lady.

quiet cottage near the ocean

Location was great -- on a quiet street with just a couple minutes walk to the "private" beach. Owner was very good about communicating. The cottage is quaint and cozy and about 100 years old. Many things preserved from the past, which is wonderful. It does, however, need additional upkeep such as replacing paneling in upstairs bedrooms and leaky porch roof.

Atlantic Sunrise

Vintage cabin was exactly as described. My wife, son and I enjoyed a great Thanksgiving week getaway. Prepared a Thanksgiving meal without a problem in the cozy kitchen. Sunrise on the Atlantic coast made for a spectacular walk on the beach.

Wonderful warm family time

My trip entailed staying with my sister, sister in law and aunt. The property was perfect for all our different needs. We had nice home time and the location was perfect for all our needs. The owner was wonderful, helpful and always quick to respond. She gave us great information on all the local places to go, from getting supplies , eating out and sightseeing. The beach, there are no words to describe the peacefulness of walking on the beach. The night my sister and I got there was a full moon rising over the ocean, and it was spectacular. The sun rise was stunning. You will not be disappointed with a stay at this lovely cottage.

7 houses from a gorgeous beach

House is charming. Built in 1924 it has all the little quirks you might imagine. Best features are proximity to the beach, screened in porch.back deck and outside shower. The neighbors were friendly and many great restaurants are a short ride. The owner was very kind and accommodating.

This is our second year renting this house . It’s a perfect location end if street is the beach just walk there and enjoy!! The owner Kay is Awesome !! Great cottage!

Have rented it 3 times now and will definitely rent it again. Really cozy and comfortable. Very short walk to a great stretch of beach. Large private back yard is a big plus. We love hanging out on the back deck. And the owner is super helpful and friendly.

Rustic Charm, Close to Beach

This was just perfect to host 3 adult couples for a weekend. The cottage is full of quirks accumulated over the last 90 years, but still accommodated us well. A table to share meals around, a porch to read on, and a living room to gather in. Note that there's one indoor and one outdoor shower. Walks on the very near beach were the highlight of the stay. Mattresses are a bit old and lumpy, be warned. Also, clarify access and departure procedure with owner prior to arrival. Overall we were very happy.

Simple et calme

Maison près de la mer, dans une rue tranquille. Très belle plage de sable doux parsemée de roches à ramasser. Grande cour gazonnée avec belle douche extérieure, absolument parfaite pour les enfants! Beau patio à l'arrière, belle véranda à l'avant pour relaxer. L'intérieur de la maison est bien, avec le charme d'un chalet d'une autre époque. Points négatifs : la cuisine est petite, rangement mal exploité. Un des deux lits double est plus petit qu'un lit double standard, deux adultes s'y sentent à l'étroit (mais deux enfants y dormiraient bien). Aussi, deux des lits n'ont pas de sommiers, ce qui rend les matelas un peu inconfortables (trop mous). Sinon, les chambre sont jolies et le chalet est accueillant. Karen est sympathique, répond aux questions, s'assure que nous sommes biens. Nous avons passé une belle semaine entre amis avec nos enfants!

Hidden Gem

Quaint and Cozy is what you will find with this Oceanside cottage. This was our home away from home while we discovered the Boston and Cape Cod areas….. And home it was, during the evening and nights after each day of exploring. Karen was so helpful in providing us with restaurants, tour options and “right there” every time we had a question. I am the third generation owner of this family cottage. I grew up here summers and built lasting friendships and memories. Eight years ago, I ran into my childhood best friend who played in this very yard and we eloped. It is a cherished family summer home, built in 1924, and retains much of the old woodwork, panelling, beams. I am renting it for the second summer as my husband and I are planning a few wonderful trips. The beach is just beautiful, the neighborhood wonderful with friendly neighbors.

Why they chose this property

This property is unique to the area and has not been rented to the public until last year. It is a much admired summer cottage as it retains much of the old world charm of yesteryear but with modern amenities. There are two original iron bed frames, copies of which now go for over $3000 each. The cottage has a warm glow when the fireplace is going. The beach is a wonderful ocean beach that stretches for miles. The level, grassy yard is enclosed and is the only large yard in the entire area. The back deck is private and inviting. If you like to read, there is a wonderful reading nook, a bedroom with a reading corner and lots of books. We are only 23 miles south of Boston with its myriad of things to do and 10 miles north of historic Plymouth which features a waterfront downtown, Plymouth Harbor and historic Plimouth Plantation. The town has a number of excellent restaurants. We all smile as people drive past our exit and drive another 30 minutes south to Cape Cod and its crowds. Our beach rivals, usually beats those beaches without the crowds. Locals all love this South Shore town and for years this gem of a beach and town was a well kept secret. Come and enjoy a New England summer cottage and an unspoiled area that is charming. Whether you are a family, or a couple looking for a romantic getaway with long walks on the beach, this is your place.

What makes this property unique

You have the best beach on the South Shore and you do not have all the tourists of Cape Cod, nor do you have Cape traffic. There are only 15 houses on our private road that is perpendicular to the beach. Our house is the first house on left as you enter the street, 7 houses from seawall and beach. We have the only large, flat grassy lot in area and it is all grass and great for privacy and relaxing. If you like vintage, you will love this cottage. It is open from spring through the fall and then is closed down for the winter.
