About this property

Secluded and Charming Country House

Charming and spacious cedar country house on 5 very private acres with glorious flower gardens, fruit trees, meadows, and woods. Near the house is a pristine and serene reservoir for kayaking, rafting or fishing.

There is a long driveway leading to the house so you can enjoy peace and quiet without seeing any other houses or neighbors all week.

The rental would be perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, birdwatchers, or anyone that just wants to enjoy country life for a while.

The area is famous for its white water rafting on the Delaware River 10 minutes from the house. There are also nearby hiking trails, lakes, rivers, wine tasting, local brewery, outdoor concerts, and antique stores.

The house is also near the Kadampa Buddhist meditation center, the Forestburgh Playhouse, and the Bethel Woods concert series and 60's museum.

Watch the wildlife, bunnies, wild turkeys and bluebirds.

We have WIFI throughout the house and deck. We don't have network TV but have a large smart flatscreen TV that you could hook up your device to with wi-fi. We also have a bunch of DVD movies that you can watch in our DVD player.

It is accessible by train and bus from NY city but you will need a car to buy provisions and sightsee.

The house stays very cool in the summer. This is not the city!

Idyllic Existence. Ultimate Charm. Everything we needed and more!

We stayed in this gem of a country house to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and the experience was nothing short of amazing! We also needed a break from city life and this lovely home checked all the the boxes, and superseded all of our expectations. The house is located in a secluded area, on a lovely piece of property with fruit trees, beautiful flower gardens, lots of birds, woods in the back, etc. It was quite a treat hearing the sounds of birds chirping, and seeing especially the hummingbirds floating around. The only sounds that you will hear are the sounds of nature. We never saw anyone for miles, and it felt as though we were in our own little world - which we were. We enjoyed taking walks on the property, and we especially loved the romantic trail that was created. You can tell that special thought was put into every part of this property, to provide the ultimate seclusion, relaxation, and experience. Even sharing this house with other people is easy, as the grounds are large enough to be out of each other’s way when needed. We also loved the cozy benches for 2! The home itself is aesthetically pleasing and warm and inviting. We stayed for 5 days, and it rained for about a day and a half, and even the rain added a nice touch to the experience. It added to the cozy vibe that we were so desperately in need of. It was fun cozying up on the couch watching a move while hearing and watching the raindrops. The property Manager Lisa was very accommodating and helpful, and was always available to answer any questions we had; a very gracious host! This will go down as one of our most memorable experiences and we are honored and that Lisa shared her home with us. We will be back!

Cozy and Classy

I stayed here for a week around my wedding at a nearby location, and it was a lovely and charming place to have as a home base for all of those activities. The house is renovated with tasteful and artistic decor, all of the handcrafted wood furniture is very rich and cozy...I really appreciated all the beautiful details. The yard is gorgeous and so peaceful - it is truly private and very quiet. The gardens attract so many butterflies and hummingbirds, you can sit and watch them for hours! This is a great value for a great landing place for all of the great area activities. I really appreciate Lisa opening her beautiful home to us during this special time!

A great house in a very peaceful place!

Our family with 2 adults and 3 children really enjoyed the week in this house. The house is settled on very big property in the woods away from the road and away from the noise. There is only nature sounds like the singing of birds, the rustle of trees... The house is big, bright, full of light and very cozy. Also the owner is very nice and responses quickly to all your questions. Will recommend to all my friends.

Much needed break from City life!

Our family of four had a wonderful time at this lovely country house. The grounds were just perfect and exactly what we needed to recharge. The kitchen had ample space and we enjoyed cooking every meal (very different from our tiny apartment kitchen). Even the days it rained it was a pleasure, watching the greenery, hummingbirds, and butterflies. We highly recommend!

Private and Serene

My mom and my three young children really enjoyed our stay for the week. We loved being in nature and my son and I took daily walks into the woods behind the house. The deer, humming birds and wonderful natural setting really made the vacation special.

A Perfect Getaway for 2

Autumn came and having failed to make it out of town during the moist disgust of an NYC August my wife and I were deep in dread, trapped and anxious to get away from the city for a week of R&R&R (rest, relaxation, reboot). We determined that mountain country nature was the remedy so we inventoried the kinds of things we hoped and wished our escape might be like and when we searched the web for Catskills vacation rental and this house popped up. We immediately knew it was the one for us, and it was. We stayed for a week and didn't want to leave. I mean that, no kidding. The house is wonderfully inviting and it sits on a big stake of land surrounded by trees, and it's down and back enough from the main road so there is ample privacy and calm. The town of Point Jervis is close by so stocking up on provisions was no chore. It's a neat little town. There's a cool throw back bowling alley, and yes, we bowled. We both like to kayak and hike and there is plenty of that going on. And now I like bird watching and that's because as you sit and have your morning coffee and look out these big windows in the kitchen dining area birds of all stripes are fluttering up and around the house. Such variety I've never seen before. The leaves were peaking so the hikes we took were fantastic. There are a ton of spots to explore. We took a leisurely kayak run on the Delaware River and it was perfect and all lit up with the changing foliage. Just thrilling. It was so beautiful and relaxing on that water we took a detour for one more kayak run before we departed. At night both of us would sit on the deck, drink wine, chit and chat about future schemes, and listen to all that nature happening around us. Very romantic. Our trip was a perfect escape from the big city.

Beautiful and relaxing vacation rental

My husband, another couple & I rented this house last summer. We loved the big kitchen and cooked a lot. It also has large windows so it was great to watch the birds in the morning--especially the humming birds. The yard and gardens were spacious and also really pretty. I loved all the blooming flowers. My husband spent a lot of time fishing (and we all spent a lot of time grilling the fish!)—the river was awesome and a short walk from the house. We also hiked a couple of nearby trails along the river. It rained one day so we spent it antiquing and wine tasting. The beds were really comfortable and there were 2 lovely bathrooms, so we didn't have to share. We liked it so much that we are considering renting again this summer.
