Troutman Family Vacation

We had a wonderful week on Hancock Pond. Weather didn't cooperate as well as we hoped, but there was plenty of room for all the card and games. Thankfully, I took my big electric griddle, and paper plates. Would have hated using the china and glasses. Bought plastic cups, left them there for others.šŸ˜œ Loved the view, the easy water access, and the beautiful campfire ring. Smores were enjoyed by all. Camp wood for purchase is easy to find. The only thing we missed was a washer and dryer, to dry towels and because we had our two year old grandson along. Thank you Taryn for sharing your piece of heaven.

Family Gathering

We stayed at this property to attend a family gathering. The location was perfect and access to the water was great. Plenty of room for a larger group (5 in my group) to spread out. The only complaint I had was most glasses needed to be cleaned before use.

Nice Spot A Few Things Need Attention

The Good: Overall, a very nice spot. We wanted quiet and waterfront and the cove provided both. Very relaxing. The pool room was a nice spot for hanging out. Needs Attention: The King is 2 Twins pushed together which is fine but the mattresses are pure torture. We needed to to buy memory foam mattress toppers in order to sleep since we were there for a week. Cleanliness: I would call it surface clean. It was extremely dusty. We needed to dust. We couldnā€™t turn on the ceiling fans because theyā€™re loaded with dust. If you have allergies or asthma this would be a consideration. The bath mat on first floor had mildew so itā€™s clear it hadnā€™t been washed recently. Perhaps we were the first to rent it in a while or it just needs more attention as a rental. I would recommend adding a railing to the front stairs for safety.

Peaceful

We had a wonderful stay here. The house is clean and well equipped. The pool table came in very handy because we had a few rain days! The dock and entrance to the pond are clean and well kept. The pond is shallow where the house is, so it's great for little kids, or people like me who aspire to Olympic gold in *floating*, but it gets deeper. Bridgton is about 20 minutes away with plenty of restaurants, bars, etc. Lots of wildlife to be seen (fox, turkey, loons, kingfishers etc) and don't forget to fill the hummingbird feeder. They put on quite a show! The pictures on the listing don't do justice to how nice it really is, and I've *never* experienced that before.

Wonderful home and location

The property was great. More than enough room for everyone in our group. The loft was great for the kids to all sleep and then the pool/bar room was perfect for the adults to relax once the day was winding down. The pond and scenery were a great view on a snowy weekend. Will definitely look to head back here in the warmer weather to enjoy the water and home again.

Pictures donā€™t do it justice!

We had such a fantastic time at this property! Honestly the pictures do not do it justice! This was a great space for 10 adults, no problem fitting us all. The rec room space was where we spent so much of our time, and was so fun for music and games together! Comfortable sleeping spaces and a great kitchen. We were here in the winter, it was so serene! On a nice little cove that felt private, perfect for ice fishing. We canā€™t wait to come back here again someday!

Just an AWESOME place!!

After years searching and renting all over Cape Cod, Vermont and NJ shore, we finally nailed it!šŸ˜ŠI am not big on writing reviews, but this house deserves it - clean, neat, adorable house, plenty of space for everyone, no neighbors in site, clear refreshing water in the lake, hummingbirds and that wooden moose in a yard, biking on dirt roads (no traffic!!), kayaking and canoeing under stars at night, the list goes on and on....but most importantly - this silence at night, total silence, just what we all needed, after 5 months of being ā€œfront line essential employeesā€ in NYC madness. And donā€™t forget those Rattlesnake Falls and Cape Elizabeth nearby, true gems! Loved this place, looking forward to summer 2021!šŸ˜Ž

ƀ la cart

First the positives. The home was beautiful and spacious. The neighborhood was quiet and tranquil. All in all a good time was had by all Now the negatives. I have been renting through VRBO for the past five years and this is the first time I have ever encountered the washer and dryer in a locked hallway closet with absolutely no access. With four teenagers you can only imagine the accumulation of laundry by mid week. I got to spend the better part of one of my vacation days in a laundromat in a town 10 miles away. Then there was the ridiculous rental fee for the canoe and kayak that was already on the property. Once again another first. The screen on the front door was missing and for a place that sleeps 10 it was a little strange to find only four coffee cups, just an observation. Firewood was also Ć  la cart. With a little work this home could be one of VRBOā€˜s rock stars but until such time it is a pretty adequate place to stay.

Amazing family trip, small imperfections

My family and i just returned for an amazingly relaxing trip. The location is AMAZING! Itā€™s quiet, the pond is beautiful, the deck is amazing, itā€™s everything you would want to disconnect from the world. The property does need a few small fixes, thereā€™s light switches without covers, an electrical outlet in the king bedroom thatā€™s completely out of the wall, under the bath mat in the bathroom has some kind of residue or something just stuck there and the ceiling in the loft is falling (a big piece actually fell when we were leaving). With that being said we still had an amazing time and The seclusion of the property made all those things seem trivial.

Great camp for winter trip

Great place to stay for a winter trip. We were very successful ice fishing right in front of the camp. Caught several large brown trout and we fed the yellow perch to the eagles. The bonus room upstairs with a pool table is a great addition to the camp.

Best family vacation

We stayed for a week at Our Last Nickel and had the best time with our family! The house is clean, well-appointed and had everything we needed. We have two children (aged 6 & 8) so the lake was perfect for swimming, floating, and kayaking. The layout and rooms worked out quite well and it was nice for the adults to have the pool room/bar upstairs to go hang out at night after the kids went to bed. It is in close proximity to Naples and Bridgton. We are already talking about when we can come back! Thank you, Taryn for being so responsive during our stay!

Family vacation 2019

The house was perfect and plenty of room, the deck was amazing to enjoy morning coffee and there was shade on the deck for most of the day. The water was perfect except for not being informed that itā€™s only 3 ft deep for the swimming area and that the house was in a cove. There was no view of that beautiful lake due to being in a cove but that did make it very quiet. My family loved it and would rent the house again.

Lovely and peaceful. Kids had a great time

Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. We had a We had a pontoon boat with us and the dock and cove we were on were perfect for our needs. We had 3 children with us and I had bought them inflatable kayaks. Every morning my two daughters in their kayaks would take the kids in their inflatable boats for a paddle. We swam, boated and relaxed. The little town of Bridgton only seven miles away had everything we needed. Portland was only an hour away, and Sebago lake was about 15, 20 min from our location. All in all great time, great location , great place.

Relaxing and Peaceful Vacation

We enjoyed our stay at "our last nickel" and the accommodations were comfortable and perfect for our family. I loved the size deck overlooking the property and it is where we enjoyed our coffee in the morning and our meals throughout our stay. The beach and gradual entry into the water was great for our grandchildren. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation this is where it's at.

Spacious home, quiet and private location

Very spacious and comfortable home with great outdoor spaces as well. We loved the big upstairs room with pool table, wet bar with fridge, TV, lots of seating, lots of windows and sliders, and a great deck. It is at the opposite end of the house where the bedrooms are, so night owls won't bother anyone trying to sleep. Nice BBQ grill hooked up to the house tank so you don't have to worry about running out of gas. Nice dock and firepit at the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet, anyone you do see is friendly and waves hello or stops to chat. Great dirt roads for walking or running. Owners were very accommodating and so easy to deal with. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
