Pearl Perfect

Absolutely perfect location in the Pearl. We could grab the streetcar to Good Sam. We could walk to so many restaurants that we still didn't do them all even after a month. Great entertainment just watching all the people on the street walking their dogs. We loved it. Ok we loved it so much that we got an apartment 2 blocks away for our expected future trips. We will recommend that our friends stay here.

One Month of Paradise

I spent the month of August in Portland to escape the Tucson heat. While natives thought the cool, overcast days were a disappointment, I loved every day. Condo in the Pearl District was perfectly located (averaged walking 4.5 miles a day. Condo was immaculate with a well equipped kitchen to prepare meals. May return next year if plans for Europe fall through. John Marus

In the thick of it, car-free!

An amazing property that’s well kept and up to date, Owner is amazingly responsive to in- house worries, even about little things. Truly in the “heart of the Pearl,” you don’t need a car. Tram stop is about a spit away (and quiet) and it’s a fast and cheap way to get all over town by connecting to buses and larger trains (airport, Beaverton, etc.) But if you must, or have visitors, this place provides a locked covered garage! I have this on my short list of places to stay for a month. Did I mention 20 plus restaurants within two blocks, a Safeway right Round the corner and shoot... now this cool place will never be open! Have fun!

Pearl in the Pearl District

We almost hesitate to write this review because when we return to Portland we'd love for it to be available. For those who have never been to this city, the Pearl District is the place to stay. Fine restaurants, coffee shops with a European feel - bistro sets outside where you can feel in the mix. This apartment is in the middle of it all yet with little noise and when the windows are closed hardly a trace can be heard. Chairs that swivel where you can be entertained for hours watching passerbys. If you're a cook and appreciate a quality set up kitchen you will feel right at home. The Dunn's have thought of it all. a true pearl in The Pearl!

I had the pleasure of staying here for five months, Jan - May. Throughout the changing seasons I found myself waking up each morning so thankfully I was in such s charming "home away from home." Location & layout of this well stocked & well appointed unit were ideal. My favorite feature was the gas fireplace in the living area which has a peaceful & airy (and surprisingly quiet) view over the street. The unit faces the modern glass entrance to the building across the street which visually has the effect of making the unit seem even larger. Highly, highly recommended (ps: in building parking easy & convenient as well!)

Lovely condo with excellent host

My husband and I stayed here while emergency work was being done in our own Portland condo. The owners were very accommodating and understanding of our needs and the unique situation. The condo is wonderfully situated in the Pearl with easy access to groceries, restaurants, parks, and more. We walked everywhere, although we did also use the parking spot (as other reviews have noted it is small and a little tough to get into. But fine for a small car with a careful driver). We chose this place for the location, comfort, and kitchen, and it did not disappoint. There is some street noise (as would be true for an urban condo on street level) but it was never an issue. Dark curtains provided privacy and made sleeping in truly delicious. We'd recommend this place to any individuals or couples looking for a nice central location and a place to stay that feels a lot more like home than a hotel.

Rental Review

My husband and I stayed at this property more than once. We cannot say enough great things about it. It was just the perfect accommodations for us. Everything was included; all we had to do was show up. All of our favorite spots in Portland were within walking distance. The area was just fantastic. Some people who lived in other building across from us told us they just love the area. It was minutes away from the light rail and it would drop us off right in front of the condo when we returned. Great restaurants with Food Happy Hour beginning around 3 p.m. daily. Great breakfast spots nearby. We took full advantage of the Farmers' Market on Saturdays at the University Mall area, and took in two wonderful plays that month. Too many great things to say about, and I don't have enough space to write. We plan to return.

Clean, modern, comfortable. Perfect for our vacation needs!

My spouse and I recently stayed at this condo and loved it. The condo was clean, modern, and comfortable. The host anticipated and provided for all of our needs. The washer and dryer was helpful, so we didn't have to pack as many clothes. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the furniture was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and allowed multiple people to spaciously get ready for the day at the same time. The bed firmness was adjustable. The location of the condo was also great. It was in a generally quiet neighborhood (although occasionally a little noisy with the doors open because it's on the street level), but it was also within walking distance of many great locations that we wanted to visit. The transit system was also very close to the condo, which helped us get around during our stay. The host also gave us a list of some places to check out in the area, which we appreciated and utilized. There are books/magazines in the condo with other suggestions of places to eat and things to do in Portland. We loved our trip, largely due to the accommodations and location of the condo. We hope to explore many other vacation places in the US, but we may have to come back to this one!

Diamond in the Pearl

If you're looking for a comfortable stylish apartment in the Pearl look no further. Its an easy walk to the whole of the Pearl or the downtown area and if you're driving there is quick and easy access to the main routes around the city. Well equipped, comfortable and stylishly appointed, and with excellent communication with the owners you simply can't go wrong with this superb apartment.

Clean, beautiful condo.

This very large studio was very nicely laid out and clean. All we needed was there. A large screen separates the bed and living areas. The owner was very nice and quick to answer a couple questions we had. The condo is located on the north side of the pearl district. Close to coffee shops, restaurants and shopping. The condo building was very quiet and in a quiet neighborhood. Would definitely recommend.

Better than hotel

The location was in the far north of the Pearl. This made it quiet, as promised by the owner. We prefer the condo over a hotel as it feels more like home with conveniences such as laundry, secure parking, and of course a kitchen! The owner was very responsive both before and during our week long stay. The only caveat would be that if you are sensitive to light, bring a sleep mask! Because the unit is almost street level, the street lights, the lights from the lobby across the street and a few Christmas lights were very obtrusive. Blackout curtains would have helped.

Warm and cozy.

This condo was better than what we expected. The comfortable furnishings and warm fireplace made it the perfect place to spend Thanksgiving. I was able to walk one block to a grocery store and prepare for the holiday meal in the fully equipped kitchen. The washer and dryer were a nice surprise. Tracy's recommendations for places to eat and things to do were a real gift. Andina, The Daily, and Piazza Italiana were excellent restaurants. Salt and Straw for ice cream and Cargo for shopping were places we would never have found without the guide provided by Tracy. She was easy to contact with questions and helpful in solving our problems. We visit Portland often and will return to this condo.

Immaculate!

Communication was amazing w/ friendly, helpful owners. Tracy was wonderful and even gave directions on the perfect cup of french press coffee (plus, super yummy coffee beans!!)...both MUCH appreciated when dealing w/ jetlag! Her recommendations for local restaurants and directions to grocery stores, etc. were also spot-on and well used. Directions to condo were easy to follow (even at night w/out a GPS). Condo was immaculately clean, perfectly appointed for our purpose (in town w/ my 5 year old for a family wedding), comfortable, and in a great location (out of the hustle and bustle of the Pearl, but still in walking distance to cafes, shops, park). Washer and dryer helped us save packing space and well-appointed kitchen allowed us to enjoy more from the farmer's market. One tip: parking space is a bit strange...let passenger side out before you pull into space! We loved it so much there that we've decided to forgo the house buying and have started looking at condos in the area for the inevitable move back to Portland. In the meantime, I only hope the condo is available for our next visit!

Wonderful location, beautiful condo

We couldn't have been happier with our recent stay at this condo in the Pearl District. Everything was close by - good coffee, great food and supermarkets. The condo itself was spotless and laid out extremely well. Being on the 2nd floor meant we could open the windows and feel close to the street outside, but without people walking right by the window. As a family of four, with two young children, the pull-out sofa bed made for an excellent 2nd bed for the kids. We had lived in Portland for 5 years and spent a lot of time thinking about where we wanted to stay for this vacation and we could not have picked a better place.

Great condo in an excellent location

This unit was well equipped and located in a terrific spot in The Pearl District. The owners were very generous, allowing us to use whatever supplies were available in the gourmet kitchen and bath. We like to cook so having a well stock kitchen is very important to us. Although this unit was on the first floor, it was remarkably quiet. The building is well maintained and generally quiet. I would have rated this property as 'excellent' but had problems with the quality of the mattress and pillows.

Heart of the Pearl, and Heart of the Action!

We stayed in this lovely condo for 4 nights a few weeks ago. Normally, we stay at the Benson Hotel downtown, but decided to try a condo this time. We were not disappointed! Everything was clean and comfortable. The living room is very pleasant and comfortable especially with the sliding doors open. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need right at your fingertips. We cooked breakfast every morning, and made coffee in that wonderful French coffee press. There is a washer and dryer in the unit which came in very handy, and a spacious clean bathroom. Is it very quiet but at the same time lively!! Everything you need is right in the Pearl; restaurants, brew pubs, grocery shopping, and wonderful, unique shops. Step outside and board the streetcar for any destination you wish for. We took the streetcar up to 23rd for a delicious dinner, and strolled all the lovely stores. Great shopping; Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and little boutique style shops. The Pearl district is lively and fun. We had a great time, and can't wait to return to this condo. Tracy was so helpful, and sweet during the whole rental process, and easily accessible for any questions. There is also a parking space in the garage, although you don't need a car. It was nice not having to tip a doorman and bellhop every time we turned around, and having a beautiful, comfortable space to relax in. We love the Pearl!!

Large and beautiful studio in the Pearl district...

Portland has become one of our favorite cities to hang out in, and the Pearl district is one of Portland's most vibrant neighborhoods. The condo is is a large studio in a newer building, that is perfectly situated for nice walks, or catching the streetcar. We found the studio to be exactly as advertised, very clean, beautifully furnished, and full of thoughtful touches by the owners, like nice soaps, a new brand new tube of toothpaste, fresh ice in the freezer (as opposed to ice maker ice that has sat there for months), and even a midnight snack in the refrigerator because we arrived so late. Tracy, the owner, was extremely responsive, sometimes answering my emailed questions within minutes, and flexible when it came to adding a day on to our reservation when our plans changed. We have rented a half dozen places in Portland over the past few years, in different neighborhoods, and this was absolutely one of the best. Sure hope it's available next time we come to Portland!

Great Car-Free Getaway

This is a great spot for a car-free getaway. We rode the train to Portland, and it's an easy walk from the charming old station to this beautiful apartment. The tall windows and high ceiling make for a bright and spacious feel, and everything is clean and brand new. Our weekend was packed with activity: a visit to a great local brewpub, dinner with friends at a wonderful Asian restaurant, morning coffee from a bakery just around the corner, Sunday brunch at a popular local restaurant, a stroll along the river to the Saturday Market--and all on foot. If you want to eat in, it's also an easy walk to a Whole Foods market, where it's fun to sample deli items and browse the large selection of local wines. Being so close to so much action, I was afraid I'd have trouble sleeping because I'm not used to city noise. But the apartment is in a very quiet residential block, and even with the huge windows (perfect for people-watching) the sound insulation is so good that the unit is quieter than our semi-rural home! Beautiful, comfortable, and convenient--We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

A Perfect Stay in the Heart of Portland

We couldn't have asked for more. Everything was just as described in the listing. The condo. itself was very comfortable, spotless, and well-appointed. Everything worked as described, including the wireless internet. The owners kindly got us started with a few basics, like some good coffee beans, so our first morning including a nice cup of coffee even though we hadn't made it to the grocery store yet. Our kids slept on the sofa bed, which worked great. The location was ideal, within walking distance to many great restaurants, bars, bakeries, and Powell's Books! We had great weather, so we enjoyed dinner on the sidewalk at the nearby Brix Tavern one night, and breakfast at the Lovejoy Bakery. There's even a little cafe at the street level of the condo building itself, which meant evening, spur-of-the-moment gelato that the kids loved. There was a very cool independent video store a block or two away, Video Rama - you know it's for film buffs if it has a section organized by director. The nearby Tanner Springs Park and Jamison Square were also nice places to just sit, relax, and people watch. We had no problem finding free street parking on Overton St. The streetcar runs right by the other side of the building, so you can easily get across town for cheap. We've usually used Hotwire or Priceline to find a hotel in Portland, usually on the other side of town. Staying in the Pearl District was a much better way to go, being closer to the best dining options, and with a quieter, more neighborly feel. The owners were quick and easy to communicate with, and they provided a nice email guide to the condo. and the area that was very clear and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

We raised our children in a rural area of the Pacific Northwest, and now that they're mostly off to college, we decided to buy this condo in Portland's Pearl District for an urban getaway. We are bicyclists and avid foodies, so the vibrant Pearl is an ideal place for us. We try to visit the unit ourselves once a month, and we thought we'd share it through VRBO renters during times when we're not there.

Why they chose this property

Tucked away on the quiet, residential side of the Pearl District, but just steps away from all the excitement. Restaurants. Sunshine. Bicycles. Bridges. Farmers Markets. Food trucks. Streetcars. Brewpubs. Happy hours. Jogging paths. Did we mention the Restaurants?
