Lovely cozy log cabin style home. My family celebrated Thanksgiving here and it was perfect for our needs. The beds were very comfortable. We brought our dogs and the 2 acre yard was wonderful for them to run around. Minutes from the beach and lots of good restaurants nearby. Will stay here again.
We had a great stay over Christmas and look forward to returning in the future. Thanks!

Hidden gem!
We had such a great time on our vacation. The home is nestled off the road and in the woods, with the reserve in the backdrop. Given it is N. FL and there are lots of trees, so bring some tick spray. There are neighbors to the sides, but one house is closer to the front of the property and the neighbors to the other side seemed nice.
Laura was very helpful and responsive and we hope to stay again one day!
We had a Wonderful time and loved meeting everyone. We met so many friendly dog owners on our walks. We stayed 45 nights and had good weather. We had timely information about our damage deposit. We love the cabin. Thank you to our host Laura. We certainly had a great long vacation. We Enjoyed the cabin and ample yard Thanks to Vrbo and hosts.while there. Hope we can return. We certainly enjoyed the area also. There were so many places to explore. The cabin cleanliness was superb. We had plenty of room for our small dog too.

The home is comfortable, we all felt at home and were able to relax and enjoy our holiday.
The bed in the master bedroom is very high and probably needs steps at the bedside. I'm a tall woman and had difficulty getting into the bed.
The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combo and is shared between the three bedrooms. There are NO safety grab bars or even ledges to hold onto. The downstairs bathroom has nice a walk-in-shower.
The kitchen is well equipped with an abundance of pots, pans, and even a few casserole dishes. We were able to cook a traditional family Christmas dinner without problem.
Laura, our host was a pleasure to work with. She was very responsive to questions before our arrival. We found the property just as she promised. .
The property is in poor condition and should not be rented.
We found the following:
Mold/mildew smell in the entire home
Mold in washing machine
Back deck in disrepair
Front deck covered in debris
Missing railing on inside stairway
No ventilation in the kitchen over the range
At least a 20 minute walk to the beach not 7 minutes as stated
Cabinets and closets full of owners cloths and personal items
No toilet paper
No paper towels
No hand soap

Lovely Stay in Great Location!
My husband and I stayed at Laura’s wonderful log home with our dog for seven nights. “Old Florida,” “peaceful retreat” and “unique” all accurately describe the property because guests may quietly enjoy R&R under the home’s canopy of mature oaks hearing the songbirds or within minutes access a wide variety of activities. Numerous local parks, a clean, spacious YMCA with 25-yard outdoor pool (we found no long course public pool in the area), a very nice beach with off-street parking that allows leashed dogs, the Guana River Wildlife Management Area for biking and hiking, a national estuarine research reserve, i.e. the “GTM,” with its educational visitor center and programs for the public (walks, lectures, kayak tours), and LOADS of stores and restaurants are literally minutes away. Jacksonville and St. Augustine are less than 30 miles from the home and within an hour’s drive are two national monuments, Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas. Fort Mose Historic State Park, also a designated National Historic Landmark, is not to be missed for it’s history and natural beauty although closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laura’s retreat.

Best of both worlds! The sun and the shade!
What could be better after a day at the beach or on the golf course than to return to the solitude of this unique beach haven, nestled among palm trees and giant oaks over 2 acres of natural beauty.....drinks on the deck every night while barbecuing and listening to the sounds of the Iguana Reserve! The house is setback several hundred yards from Neck Road along a lengthy drive which is a treasure in itself. It is beautifully furnished and if you are a pianist you will be in second heaven playing on the baby grand piano. We are planning to visit in the cooler seasons also and enjoy a roaring log fire in the large stone fireplace! The kitchen is well equipped with black granite countertops and great appliances and the bedrooms are beautifully decorated with very comfortable mattresses. It's a beautiful walk to what is Ponte Vedra's only beach with parking, a bathroom and outdoor shower! As much as we enjoyed the beautiful beach in all truth we couldn't wait to get back to our charming log cabin each day and swing on the porch! It's a regular occurrence to see a group of wild turkeys strut by and a deer or two....certainly not your typical noisy 3 bedroom concrete condo. And if you are unfamiliar with Ponte Vedra proper, it is very upscale with wonderful restaurants and shopping. This was our second visit and it won't be our last. If we could work from home, we'd stay a month!

Cool Cabin
We enjoyed a week there in late March.
Property - The cabin itself is nice but more quaint than anything. The condition seemed to be maintained but in a more rustic way (examples - some florescent lights, 70's feeling bathrooms and even electrical outlet covers missing in spots on baseboards). We had to dig around some to find spare toilet paper and paper towels and there was only 1 or 2 dishwasher pods. And we got a BYO ice message. The lot may be 2 acres but it is a narrow and long 2 acres with a large pond/ swamp - so don't assume a wide and spacious lot. I think there is smaller out-parcel cabin in the very back the owner's son lives but he was respectful and we only saw him once when he wanted to water plants and he texted in advance.
Area - It is about a 1 mile walk to the public beach at Mickler Rd. There are sidewalks but you must cross a very busy road at A1A .. I didn't really understand that looking at the map. It backs up to a nature area you can see on the map but most of the property along Neck Rd was private homes so you can not really see the nature area without feeling like you are trespassing on someone's property. We used the public beach down the road in the Guana Nature Preserve it was much less crowded but with a $3 parking fee.
Laura's log cabin, tucked in the beautiful old Florida oaks dripping with Spanish moss, was a pleasant surprise. An older home, it has so much character and charm! It was a very relaxing stay and quite convenient to local restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping. Coffee in the mornings just off the kitchen was especially nice with a view of the trees and pond out back. We were visited twice in our short 4-day stay by wild turkey. The home sits back off the road on a quiet dead-end street, so traffic noise was a minimum. The lot is long and narrow, and there are homes on each side. However, we never saw or heard anyone in either home, so we felt as if we were quite secluded. The piano was a wonderful treat, and our daughter loved playing it each evening. My only "wish" (because we have no complaints!) would be to have had cleaner windows. I realize that seems like a petty item, but they were quite dirty and it just made everything seem a little "tired." Also, the owners have a LOT of their personal items in the home, so I sometimes felt like I was intruding. Maybe fewer small knick knacks might be better?? Lastly, the "1 mile walk to the beach" includes the need to cross a major highway (FL A1A) and the traffic was quite heavy through the intersection. If we had been traveling with small children, this would have been a concern.
All in all, Laura was an excellent host, easily reached by email and/or text for any questions. If you are looking for a quaint spot near Mickler's Beach in Ponte Vedra, then I'd happily recommend you check this place out.
*Beware* of this host!
We had a multi-month booking, and what a horrible experience it was. Host grilled us from the beginning claiming their property is special and needs extra attention. Come to find out, it is just old and outdated and prone to breaking. Host required us “after booking already” to sign an additional agreement, which VRBO didn’t even acknowledge once we had to file a claim against the host. House had a toilet leak into the kitchen to which they didn’t get fixed for almost 3 weeks so we lost use of one of the bathrooms, then their fridge breaks down and we lose all of our food and then their snoopy neighbor that doubles as their cleaner kept harassing us the entire time. The neighbor will smoke on the hosts property and leave cigarette butts, so be careful!!! because the host used that to cancel our reservation claiming we smoked on her property. What a nightmare experience from beginning to end, and the host essentially stole half of our booking rate, to which we are still working to get back. They claim we were not being clean, but the host left a huge pot of food in the kitchen and the whole house was covered in bugs upon our arrival. I wish I could give negative stars for this entire experience.
We had an amazing time staying in this artistic, magical & peaceful cottage. The natural beauty of Florida surrounding the house was amazing. We saw deer, listened to the birds and swam at the beach everyday.
Every inch of the house has artistic flare and is so cozy. We cannot wait to plan our next visit!!!
Thank you for sharing this special place with us.
I sleep much better here than my own home and feel like I am at home every time I stay. I’ve been here at least three times and plan on going more times and just love the surroundings. Whether it’s getting up in the morning and watching the deer that quietly walk by or the wild turkeys or seeing the sun sat in the backyard in the evenings, this log cabin is like no other place I have ever found. Highly recommend.
Property is charming - old oaks with air plants swaying from branches, lush greenery everywhere, mesmerizing view to the back yard. Great location - near beautiful Mickler's Beach, close to Guana Preserve, short drive to St. Augustine or Jacksonville, plenty of dining nearby, great fishing, kayaking, biking.
House is cozy, country cottage like. It was clean, had a well equipped kitchen, plenty of sitting areas, comfortable beds, plenty of towels, etc.
Laura was great at communicating and very helpful with all of our needs for various recommendations.
We had a very nice and relaxing family vacation, thank you!
If you don’t like funky this place might not be for you. But if you value authenticity and a real old Florida experience coupled with convenience, do yourself a favor and book this place. Host is super responsive. And I loved it. Fun and original. Beds super comfortable. Backyard is great for being quiet and listening to wildlife. But close to PVB restaurants and all other local attractions. Recommended.
This property has great location, very close to Ponte Vedra beach at Mickler's Landing. Big backyard with bunch of turkeys! Great place to get away from it all!
From the first correspondence with Laura you can tell that she leads with her heart and that love is apparent in her lovely cabin. The cabin is well-appointed with a great layout, warm colors, and and fun fabrics. There is a gorgeous sun room where you will spend most of you time looking at the the beautiful trees and Spanish moss. Inside is cozy with lots of interior lights to make it feel bright. The cabin is set far back from the street so it is very private; cell service can be a bit spotty, but if you just move to another room it is not a problem and you are able to work from home. The internet works great and there was a beautiful desk space and enough spots where two people could set up and work comfortably. The location is great for nature lovers (we saw deer, tree frogs, skinks, turkeys, raccoons, hawks, and a hummingbird) and you can easily run or walk to the beach or through the trails at Guana. Our golden retriever loved the big back yard and chasing all the wild life. This area generally Is great for golfers (with TPC and world of golf not far) and beach lovers too (Mickler’s beach is dog friendly). If you plan to rent a boat, the cabin is near doctor’s lake, black creek, and other cool spots to pull up. The cabin is close to the supermarket and restaurants too. It’s the best of both worlds because you feel secluded but you’re in the middle of everything. Neighborhood is very safe and everyone we encountered was friendly and kind. The only thing I would point out is that there is not a pool on the property or as part of the neighborhood association (just to clarify there is a community pool in the town) and because you are near the woods pack your bug spray. I would stay here again/recommend it to a friend who was looking for a unique stay in Florida. Loved it! Thank you, Laura!

Unexpected gem in the middle of Ponte Vedra!
We absolutely LOVED this property. It was such an unexpected find that was perfect for our Spring Break get away. All of the furniture including the beds was super comfortable and the decor makes you feel right at home. The yard was great for our dogs and there is lots of shade for enjoying the front porch and deck. The kitchen is well equipped with quality cookware and the washer/dryer is a plus. Laura was very responsive and a perfect host. The beach is super close and the house is convenient to Jacksonville and St. Augustine. Overall, the property is just so comfortable and makes you feel like you are visiting someone’s home rather than a rental property.

We fell in love with this log cabin the moment we drove up to see it!
My review is a little different. You see, we booked this beautiful cabin many months ago and were so looking forward to getting away from Maryland's harsh winter for 6 glorious weeks of Florida sunshine. Unfortunately, my husband injured his leg (severely) right before we were to leave so we had to cancel. However, the gracious owner let us visit when we were in FL this past August and we absolutely knew we had made the right choice. It is so lovely, secluded, yet close to golf courses, the beach and fine dining. You are "in the woods' yet a short drive to everything. You have to see this lovely, charming cabin yourself - you won't be disappointed, I promise!

About the host
Hosted by Laura
As an avid traveler myself, I have often used VRBO and had wonderful adventures that far exceed the typical hotel experience. You get far more for your money! I have equipped my home to make a get-away as convenient and stress free as possible with a fully equipped kitchen, hair dryers, plenty of towels , beach chairs, charcoal grill on deck, Different from the run-of-the-mill overcrowded, high rise,,condo after condo...this community is tranquil with the tallest building a 2 story lodge and is predominantly private homes, golf courses and tennis haven. I chose it for the 2 acre private setting...rare at any beach town. I plan to hand this down to generations through my four grown children and keep this gem in the family.
Why they chose this property
When looking for a house near the ocean, my neighbor, a Florida cracker born and raised here said to me..'you, my dear, are getting the last little piece of heaven in Ponte Vedra Beach!' When I want rest and relaxation, I don't want fast food restaurants on every corner and congested traffic. I chose this due to the tranquil setting, the feeling of a retreat home rather than just a house, the gorgeous giant Oaks and location that feels a million miles from anything but is in reality minutes from everything I could possibly need....good nutritious food, fun local coffee house, local hardware store, exercise and spas and the finest restaurants on par with Charleston, NYC and New Orleans!
What makes this property unique
Sit on the front screened porch swing and bird watch, the rafter of wild turkeys that strut through daily, all types of birds and if lucky....you will hear but may see the white barn owl who claims ownership to this land. I enjoyed completely renovating this 1960's log house updating with all new appliances, a real tin roof to hear the pitter patter of rain, a gorgeous stone fireplace for a romantic evening or reading by the fire ,a visit to the bike shop just a jaunt down the street to rent a bike and ride along the beach homes of Ponte Vedra (15 mph!) or down along the Guana Preserve. Walk for miles on the beach and it is quite possible you will have the beach to yourself most of the walk!
